Allahabad University LLB Admissions 2018

Established in September 1887, University of Allahabad (UOA) is a public central university and the fourth oldest in India located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The University provides admission to various professional and non-professional courses, research and training programs.

UOA has a dynamic Law Department which offers Undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) as well as doctoral courses to students every year. It offers BA.LLB, LL.B, LL.M, D.Phil. and LL.D degree under the department of Law.

Students seeking admission to the Bachelor of Law (LL.B) programme must possess a graduation degree in any discipline. Admission of candidates to LL.B programme is done on the basis of their performance in LAT 2017 to be held on August 14, 2017 (tentative). Candidates can register for admission by filling and submitting the online application form, starting from the first week of April to the first week of May every year.

Eligibility Criteria

LLB

  • Candidate should have bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 45% aggregate in marks. For OBC and SC/ST category candidates, the minimum required aggregate is 42% and 40%, respectively
  • Candidate must be resident of India and must qualify LAT 2017 Examination

Note: Foreign National /Non-Resident Indian (i.e., a citizen of India domiciled abroad) and who has graduated from a foreign University, are exempted from appearing in the Admission Test and shall be considered for admission on the basis of qualifying degree merit.


How To Apply

LLB

Candidates can apply for admission by filling in and submitting completed online applications before May 10, 2017 (tentative). Candidates must log on to the university website and follow the given steps:

  1. Candidates should fill the application form online with all the relevant information
  2. Next, student should submit the application fee through the available online payment modes (e-banking/credit card/debit card).
  3. Candidate must save the generated registration number and keep the Xerox/copy of the completed applications for subsequent use
  4. The registered candidates can appear in LAT 2017 only after downloading the admit card

Note: The foreign/ NRI candidates/ candidates exempted from appearing in the Law Admission Test should fill the application form through a separate procedure which will be notified later on by faculty of Law

Online Application Fee

  • For General and OBC candidates – Rs. 600/-
  • For SC, ST and PH candidates – Rs. 300/-


Admission Process

LLB

Admission to LL.B courses is done on the basis of Entrance examination viz. LAT 2017, conducted by the respective department of the University of Allahabad. The candidates shortlisted in LAT will be intimated for the counselling process where they will be submitting the required supporting documents along with the required fee.

Documents required for LAT Counselling 2017 

  • Print out of the Score card of LAT 2017 or results’
  • Copy of LAT 2017 Admit Card
  • Xerox Copy of the submitted Application Form of LAT 2017
  • Mark sheets of the Qualifying Degree Examination
  • Birth Certificate/Class 10th Passing Certificate (DOB proof)
  • Documents for claiming reserved seats of NCC, PH Sports, and other quota
  • Caste certificates for SC/ST/OBC categories

Exam pattern

Here are some of the key points regarding Law Admission Test (LAT 2017) conducted by the University of Allahabad:

  • LAT 2017 consist of 3 papers - Papers 1 and 2 shall consist of 100 questions whereas Paper 3 shall comprise of 50 questions only. The Question Paper shall carry maximum marks of 300.
  • The questions will be both objective as well as subjective. The exam will be conducted by UOA in offline mode only and the candidate will be given maximum of 2 hours and 30 minutes i.e. 150 minutes to complete the test.


Reservation Criteria

The University offers 493 seats for LLB programme. Allahabad University follows the rules and regulations as per the Government of India, UGC and BCI for the reservation of seats. The seats reserved for different categories are shown:
