Indira Gandhi Agricultural University (IGAU) is a public university located in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India established on January 20th, 1987.  The University is recognized by UGC and has 15 affiliated colleges and 16 constituent colleges and offers a range of education in professional and academic courses in in three faculties i.e. Agriculture, Horticulture and Agricultural Engineering. The University offers admission to following research program for the year 2017:

Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy)

Candidates with the relevant PG qualification can register for the above-mentioned program. The university provides reservation of seats/ relaxation of marks for SC/ST/OBC etc. as per the rules of the Government and norms of the university.

Candidates can register for admission by filling the online/offline application form and submitting the required processing fee, on or before Sep 6th, 2017. Admission to PG programs is done on the basis of merit of the candidate in entrance test (CET) conducted by the university followed by counseling.

Candidate should have obtained minimum OGPA of 3.00/4.00, 6.50/10.00 or 65% or equivalent grade in the relevant/concerned subject at M.Sc. level from a recognized university.
Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnologycandidate should have obtained minimum OGPA of 3.00/4.00, 6.50/10.00 or 65% marks or equivalent grade in M.Sc. Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from a recognized university.
ForestryCandidate should have obtained minimum OGPA of 3.00/4.00, 6.50/10.00 or 65% marks or equivalent grade in M.Sc. Forestry from a recognized university.

Candidate should have obtained minimum OGPA of 3.00/4.00, 6.50/10.00 or 65% marks in the master’s program of Agriculture/Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Farm Machinery and Power/relevant subject at M.Tech/M.E. level from a recognized university.

 

Note: 5% relaxation will be given in minimum admission requirement to the reserved category (SC/ST).


How To Apply

Ph.D. (Agronomy) , Ph.D. (Genetics & Plant Breeding) & Ph.D. (Soil Science and Agriculture Chemistry)

The candidates can apply for admissions by filling and submitting the complete application form along with the required amount of processing fee and important documents before Sep 6th, 2017.  Candidate can obtain the application from the office of the registrar or can log on to the university website in and follow the subsequent steps:

  • Ensure the eligibility criteria and possession of an active mail-ID
  • Fill up all correct details in Application Form
  • Upload the required documents
  • Pay the application fees either through online mode by using their debit/credit card or net banking option. Fees can also be paid offline via challan/in shape of crossed Demand Draft in favor of "Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur (C.G.)" payable in Raipur
  • Submit the application form
  • Application form duly completed in all respect along with self-addressed envelope (23"x10") affixed with postal stamps of Rs. 20/-. should reach the Registrar, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Krishak Nagar, Raipur (Chhattisgarh) 492-006
  • Candidate must keep the hard copy of application form for future reference.

Candidates are directed to submit the soft copies of the following documents along with application form:

  • Domicile Certificate
  • Caste Certificate, wherever applicable
  • Certificate showing date of birth
  • Mark sheet/Certificate of the qualifying examination
  • Other relevant documents

NOTE:

  • The application fee for OBC of Chhattisgarh and Unreserved category: Rs. 400/-
  • The application fee for SC/ST of Chhattisgarh: Rs. 100/- 
  • The application fee is non-refundable
  • The candidates appearing in the entrance test have to bring their admit card and identity proof at the entrance examination center.
  • The list of qualified candidates will be declared on the website.


Admission Process

Ph.D. (Agronomy) , Ph.D. (Genetics & Plant Breeding) & Ph.D. (Soil Science and Agriculture Chemistry)

Admission to above courses shall be based on the merit to be determined by the entrance examination (CET), provided the candidates fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria.

The entrance test for the above course shall be based on the syllabus of the qualifying degree.

Counselling:

The candidates who are selected in the entrance examination/merit list are required to participate in the interview/counseling process. Candidates are directed to bring the application form, photocopies and the originals of the following documents for the purpose of verification at the time of counseling:

  • State domicile certificate for candidates of Chhattisgarh state
  • Last semester report card and/or provisional degree certificate 
  • Permanent caste certificate (For SC/ST and OBC candidates) 
  • No objection certificate by in-service candidates of Chhattisgarh Agriculture Department 
  • PH (physically handicapped) certificate issued by Napier Town, Jabalpur for PH candidates if claiming for PH quota

Note: Submission of online counseling form is compulsory.
