NIFTEM Sonepat M.Tech Admission 2017-18

NIFTEM, Sonepat (National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management) is a public Institute located in Sonepat. It offers admission to M.Tech program in different specializations. The Admission in M.Tech courses is done through written test and interview round. Eligible candidates can apply online on the official website of the university i.e. www.niftem.ac.in.

NIFTEM, Sonepat university offers admission in various streams of M.Tech program namely- M.Tech. in Food Supply Chain Management, M.Tech. Food Safety and Quality Management, M.Tech. Food Process Engineering and Management, M.Tech. Food Technology and Management, and M.Tech. Food Plant Operations Management.

  • The university invites application for admission to M.Tech program.
  • Student must have graduation degree in relevant field with at least 60% marks from a recognized university or institute.
  • The registration window will be closed on June 30, 2017.
  • Candidates have to pay application fee of INR 1000 at the time of registration process. For SC/ ST the application fee is INR 500.

  • The written test consists of 70 MCQs, each question carries 1 mark. Negative marking is also applicable.

To seek admission in M.Tech program candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria. The complete eligibility criteria for admission to M.Tech program in NIFTEM Sonepat are mentioned below:

Candidate must have 4 year bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in relevant disciplines with at least 60% marks.

M.Tech (FTM)

B.E./B.Tech. in Food Science/ Food Science and Technology/ Food Technology and Management/ Food Technology/ Food Process Engineering/ Food Engineering/ Dairy Engineering/ Dairy Technology/ Agricultural and Food Engineering/ Dairy and Food Engineering OR M.Sc. Degree in Food Technology/ Food Science and Technology/ Food Science/ Dairy Technology/ Foods and Nutrition from a recognized University/ Institute. Deficiency courses would be offered to the applicants with above prescriber non-food degrees.

M.Tech (FPEM)

B.E./B.Tech. in Food Science/ Food Science and Technology/ Food Technology and Management/ Food Technology/ Food Process Engineering/ Food Engineering/ Dairy Engineering/ Dairy Technology/ Agricultural Process Engineering/ Agricultural and Food Engineering/ Agricultural Engineering/ Bio Chemical Engineering/ Chemical Engineering OR in related allied field from a recognized University/ Institute. Deficiency courses would be offered to the applicants with above prescribed non-food degrees.

M.Tech (FPOM)

B.E./B.Tech. degree in Food Sciences/ Food Science and Technology/Food Technology and Management/Food Technology/Food Process Engineering/ Food Engineering/Dairy Engineering/ Dairy Technology/ Agricultural Process Engineering/ Agricultural and Food Engineering/ Agricultural Erigineenng/ Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University/Institute. Deficiency courses would be offered to the applicants with above prescribed non-food degrees.

M.Tech (FSQM)

B.E/B.Tech degree in Food Science/Food Science and Technology/Food Technology and Management/Food Technology/Dairy Technology/ Dairy and Food Technology/Agricultural and Food Engineering/Bio-Chemical Engineering/Chemical Engineering OR M.Sc. degree in Food Technology / Food Science and Technology / Food Microbiology from a recognized University/ Institute. Applicants with M.Sc. Degree may be asked to register for deficiency course(s) as per the curriculum.

M.Tech (FSCM)

B.E./B.Tech. degree in Food Science / Food Science and Technology/ Food Technology and Management / Food Technology/ Dairy and Food Technology/Dairy and Food Engineering/ Agricultural and Food Engineering,' Four years Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree in Agriculture with Agronomy/Horticulture/ Vegetable Sciences OR M.Sc. Food Science/Food Technology/ Food Science 22 and Technology from a recognized University/Institute. Non agriculture/Non Food candidate would be asked to register for relevant deficiency courses.



NIFTEM Sonepat M.Tech Admission 2017 Application Form

ME/M.Tech

Candidates who wish to apply can submit the application form on the official website of the university. Applicants must create a login ID, click on “Create New Account” button and fill necessary information, an automatically generated mail with username and password will be sent on your register email id. Login for registration for M.Tech program. The last date of online registration is June 30, 2017. Applications received after due date will not be accepted.

It is candidate’s responsibility, all the information which is mentioned on the application form must be correct and exactly same with the information of original documents. Students are required to mention a valid email address or phone number on application form.

Step to Apply Online

  1. Go to the official website of the university i.e. www.niftem.ac.in.
  2. Click on admission link and select your applied course
  3. Register by using your email id and password
  4. Login after the confirmation of email
  5. Enter the details asked in application form
  6. Upload the scanned copy of all the required documents.
  7. Pay application fee
  8. Take the printout for future reference.

Application Fee

After duly filled application form, pay the amount of INR 1000 as application fee, it can be paid either online or offline mode. There is relaxation of INR 500 for reserved category candidates (SC/ ST).

Online Fee Payment: The online payment of application fee can be done through Credit card/ Debit card/ Net Banking. After successful payment will be able to print the acknowledgement receipt on the profile page of applicant’s account.

Offline Fee Payment: To make payment of application fee in offline mode, candidates have to make a Demand Draft of INR 1000 for general and OBC candidates and INR 500 for reserved category candidates. Along with the hard copy of application form send it to the “Head Admission Cell, NIFTEM, Plot No 97, Sector 56, HSIIDC Industrial Estate, Kundli – 131028, District Sonepat, Haryana.



NIFTEM Sonepat M.Tech 2017 Selection Process

ME/M.Tech

The selection process for admission to M.Tech program consists of two stages namely- written test and interview round. Candidates who have qualified GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering) are exempted from written test. On the basis of a valid GATE score, candidates can directly apply for interview round. GATE qualified candidates must score minimum 30 marks in interview round, to seek admission in NIFTEM Sonepat to M.Tech program.

The merit list will be prepared by normalizing GATE score by multiplying it by 0.07 (70% weightage of GATE score) and adding it to marks obtained in the personal interview round. The merit list will be released on the official website of the university.

The cut off list for GATE score will be decide by NIFTEM Sonepat. Students whose GATE score is equal or more than cut off marks, will only be called for interview round.

After the admission of GATE qualified candidates, remaining seats will be filled by non-GATE qualified candidates.  Aspiring non-qualified GATE entrants have to appear written test. After the declaration of written test result shortlisted candidates, on the basis of their performance in the written test will be called for Interview round.

Candidates who will successfully qualify both the stages of selection process will be considered for admission. If all the seats have been filled by GATE qualified candidates, In that case the common entrance test for non-GATE candidates will not be conducted and the claim for refund of application fee shall not be entertained.



NIFTEM Sonepat M.Tech 2017 Exam Pattern

The written test is conducted for non-GATE qualified candidates. The paper will consist of 70 questions, all the questions will be in MCQ format (Multiple Choice Questions).

  • Applicants have to attempt all the questions in the duration of 1 hour.
  • One mark will be awarded for each correct answer and 0.25 mark will be deducted for every incorrect response.
  • The question paper consists of 2 parts.
  • Part 1 will contain 20 questions from Mental Ability, English and General Knowledge.
  • Part 2 will contain 50 questions to test candidate’s knowledge based on their eligibility area.
