Delhi University UG Admissions through Entrance Test 2017

The University of Delhi is a public central collegiate university and is known for its high standards in teaching and research. One of the largest universities in India with 77 affiliated colleges spread out all over Delhi, the university offers various undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and research courses to aspiring students every year.

Admission to the UG programmes is done through qualifying examination merit/ entrance examination merit or both. The university offers the following UG courses through Entrance Test:

  • Bachelor of Management Studies
  • Bachelor of Business Administration - FIA
  • B.A. (Hons) - Business Economics
  • B. Tech. - (IT&M)
  • B.A. (Hons) - Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Bachelors of Elementary Education (B.El. Ed.)
  • B.Sc. in Physical Education, Health Education & Sports
  • B.A. (Hons) – MMMC

Only candidates who have passed higher secondary examination (Class 12) from CBSE or any other board recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible to apply for the above mentioned UG courses.   

Candidates seeking admission to the above mentioned UG courses can apply through the common Web Portal and submit the application form online, along with the registration fee of Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- in case of SC/ST/PwD candidates). Fee must be paid through one of the available online payment modes in order to complete the registration process.

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Business Economics) & Bachelor of Financial and Investment Analysis

The following 3 courses are conducted under the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and Humanities in various colleges of Delhi University.

Bachelor of Management Studies

Course Duration: 3 years                    Total seats available: 413

Bachelor of Business Administration - Financial Investment Analysis [BBA (FIA)]

Course Duration: 3 years                    Total seats available: 90

B.A. (Hons) - Business Economics

Course Duration: 3 years                    Total seats available: 488

Admission to the above mentioned programmes will be done through Joint Admission Test (JAT). Eligibility conditions to appear for the test are as follows:

  • General candidates should have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate at 10+2 level in four subjects including English, Mathematics and other two subjects from the list of elective subjects as approved by the University of Delhi
  • The candidate should have passed separately in each of the four papers which are being considered for computing his/her overall aggregate in 10+2 examination  

BE/B.Tech

B. Tech. Information Technology and Mathematical Innovations (IT&M)

Course Duration: 4 years                    Total seats available: 40   

Candidates will be given admission to the programme through their performance in the MCQ based entrance test, conducted by the university. Eligibility conditions to appear for the test are as follows:                    

  • General candidates should have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate at 10+2 level in four subjects including Mathematics
  • For OBC and PwD/CW candidates, minimum required aggregate is 54% and 57% respectively. In case of SC/ST candidates, a minimum pass is sufficient to appear for the university entrance test

BA

B.A. (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences

Course Duration: 3 years                    Total seats available: 40

Candidates will be given admission to the programme through their performance in the MCQ based entrance test, conducted by the university. Eligibility conditions to appear for the test are as follows:                    

  • General candidates should have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate at 10+2 level in four subjects
  • For OBC and PwD/CW candidates, minimum required aggregate is 54% and 57% respectively. In case of SC/ST candidates, a minimum pass is sufficient to appear for the university entrance test

Bachelor of Elementary Education [B.El.Ed]

Bachelors of Elementary Education (B.El. Ed.)

Course Duration: 4 years                    Total seats available: 400

Candidates should have passed the higher secondary (Class 12) examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or any other Board recognized as equivalent thereto with at least 50 % of marks in aggregate.

B.Sc

Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Health Education & Sports: B.Sc. (P.E.,H.E. & S.)

Course Duration: 3 years                    Total seats available: 400

  • Candidates should have passed the higher secondary (Class XII) examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or any other Board recognized as equivalent thereto with minimum 45% marks. The aggregate of marks will be determined on the basis of one language and three best subjects
  • For OBC and C/WAP candidates, minimum required aggregate is 35% and 40% respectively. In case of SC/ST candidates, a minimum pass in 10+2 examination is sufficient to apply for the course

Note: In B.Sc. (PE, HE &Sports), 5% of the total seats are reserved for students who have obtained more than 60% marks in Physical Education in Senior Secondary Examination (Class 10).

BA

B.A. (Hons) - Multi Media and Mass Communication (MMMC) – Only for Women candidates

Course Duration: 3 years                    Total seats available: 52

The course is offered only at the Indraprastha College for Women.

Candidates seeking admission to B.A. (Hons.) must have obtained a minimum of 75% aggregate at 10+2 level in four subjects with at least 85% marks in English

How to Apply

BA , B.Sc & BBA/BBM

Candidates seeking admission to the above mentioned UG courses can apply through the common Web Portal for centralized registration. A common registration form must be filed by the candidates and submitted along with the non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- in case of SC/ST/PwD candidates). Fee must be paid through one of the available online payment options in order to complete the registration process.

Candidate must follow the given steps to successfully register for admission to the listed UG courses:

Step 1: Candidate must visit the offficial admission portal and click on the “Register Here” link.

Step 2: After entering all the applicant details such as name, mobile number, email ID, password etc. in the “Login details” section, candidate will be sent a confirmation link on the provided email ID.  

Step 3: Once the registration process is completed, the applicant should log on to the admission portal using his registered email ID and password.

Step 4: In this step, candidate will be required to upload the following documents:

  • Scanned Passport size photograph (maximum size: 50kb; Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG)
  • Scanned signature (maximum size: 50kb; Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG)
  • Self-attested copy of Identity Proof (maximum size: 50kb, Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG)
  • Self-attested copy of Class 10th Certificate (maximum size: 100kb, Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG/ PDF)
  • Self-attested copy of Caste Certificate, if applicable (maximum size: 100kb, Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG/ PDF)

Step 5: Once all the above documents are uploaded, the applicant can proceed with “Submit” button and see a preview of Applicant’s personal detail as entered. Any modifications or update in the applicant details should be done at this step.

Step 6: Now, the candidate should start filling the registration form by entering the UG course name for which the applicant seeks to apply and his/her choice of entrance examination centre in one of the listed cities.

Step 7: After providing the details of educational qualification, the applicant shall click the “Save Application” link and proceed to pay the registration fee through any of the payment gateway.

Step 8: Candidate’s application submission process shall be completed only after payment of the online registration fee.

Note: In case a candidate wishes to apply for more than one course, he/she must fill separate registration form and pay separate registration fee for every course. However, same Login details shall be used for all the registration forms filled by the candidate.


Admission Process

Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Business Economics) & Bachelor of Financial and Investment Analysis

Bachelor of Management Studies

Bachelor of Business Administration - Financial Investment Analysis [BBA (FIA)]

B.A. (Hons) - Business Economics

Admission of candidates to the BMS/BBA/BA (Honours) courses is done on the basis of marks scored in the Joint Admission Test (JAT) and Group Discussion/Interview round. Both the rounds will be conducted by Delhi University. 

The weightage of the Entrance Test and GD/PI is as follows:

  • 85% for JAT
  • 15% for the GD/Interview

Note: The candidate must produce the confirmed result and marksheet of the qualifying examination, along with the category certificate (in case of OBC-non creamy layer/SC/ST/PwD/CW candidates), on the day of the Group Discussion and Personal Interview

BE/B.Tech

B. Tech. Information Technology and Mathematical Innovations (IT&M)

Admission of candidates to B.Tech. (IT&M) course is done through their performance in the MCQ based entrance test, conducted by Delhi University. The 2 hour entrance test will comprise of questions based on mathematics, reasoning and analytical abilities at 10+2 levels. 

The marking pattern will be as specified by the university. In case, each course have to decide individually, there will be 100 questions and for each correct answer a student shall score + 4 marks and for each negative response there will be -1 mark. 

Final admission will be done according to the merit list generated by the university on the basis of the marks secured by the candidates in the entrance test.

BA

B.A. (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences

Admission of candidates to B.A. (Hons) course is done through their performance in the MCQ based entrance test, conducted by Delhi University. The 2 hour entrance test will comprise of questions based on General Awareness, Current Affairs, General Knowledge, Communication Skills (English/Hindi), Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability. 

The marking pattern will be as specified by the university. In case, each course have to decide individually, there will be 100 questions and for each correct answer a student shall score + 4 marks and for each negative response there will be -1 mark. 

B.A. (Hons) Multi Media and Mass Communication (MMMC)

Candidates will be shortlisted for admission to B.A. (Hons) in MMMC programme according to the merit list prepared on the basis of the marks secured in the entrance test.

Final admission to the B.A. (Hons) course will be done according to the merit list generated by the university on the basis of the marks secured by the candidates in the entrance test.

B.Sc

Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Health Education & Sports: B.Sc. (P.E.,H.E. & S.)

Admission of candidates to B.Sc. (P.E.,H.E. & S.) course is done on the basis of marks scored in the written examination and other tests, conducted by Delhi University. 

The weightage of the Written Entrance Test and other tests is as follows:

  • 60% for Written Test
  • 10% for Fitness Test
  • 10% for Playing Ability Test
  • 15% for Certificate
  • 5% for Interview

Bachelor of Elementary Education [B.El.Ed]

Bachelors of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)

Candidates will be shortlisted for admission to B.El.Ed. programme on the basis of their performance in the university entrance test.

Notes

Important Instructions:

  • Candidates can download their respective Admit Card for the entrance examination from the UG admission portal after May 31, 2017 (tentative). The candidate must take the print-out of the Admit Card for future use
  • At the time of examination, candidate should carry the printed copy of the Admit Card and one identification proof bearing his/her photograph, for verification purposes.

Note: Identity proof can be any of the following documents - Aadhar Card, Driving License, PAN card, Voter’s identity card, Passport or College identity card 

Registration /Admission of foreign nationals

  • All the categories of foreign students will be considered under the same category of 5% quota for foreign nationals for admissions
  • Foreign nationals shall be exempted from the online registration process of Delhi University or appearing in Admission Entrance Test conducted by the College/Department for admission. 
  • Foreign nationals who are stationed in India and have passed last examination from Board / University in India are also exempted from online registration process of the University and appearing in entrance test
  • The University has designated the Foreign Students’ Advisor to handle any queries or provide any information regarding admission of Foreign Students.
