Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) UG Admissions 2018

Kerela Agricultural University (KAU) offers courses of B.Sc. (Hons.) and B.Tech. in various fields that include Agriculture, Co-operation and Banking, Cooperation, Banking and Management, Forestry, Agricultural Engineering and Food Engineering. One can take admission into the majority programmes through KEAM entrance exam while a few are Merit Based. These courses are carried out for the duration of 4 years. The online registrations for the entrance exams is different and is mentioned below.

Admission to these 4 year integrated courses happen through the KEAM 2018 entrance exams and requires the candidates to have passed their 10+2 with a minimum of 60% in the Science stream. The written test will happen on April 25 & 26 for B.Tech and April 27 & 28 for B.Sc. (Hons.) programmes.

KAU offers this 4 years programme in the following subjects:

  • B.Tech. Food Engineering (30 seats)

B.Sc. (Hons.) programmes are offered by:

  • College of Horticulture, Vellanikkara (59 seats)
  • College of Agriculture, Padannakad (50 seats)
  • College of Forestry, Vellanikkara (30 seats)

B.Tech is offered by Faculty of Agricultural Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria

B.Sc (Agriculture) & B.Sc

You should have qualified your 10+2 exam with a minimum percentage of 50 (for the general category) with the subject background in Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) and a minimum of 50% in Biology. The students should have received their education either under C.B.S.E or an equivalent board. There is a relaxation of 10% marks for students of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes, i.e. 50% marks.

BE/B.Tech

You should have qualified your 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

The candidates applying for this programme should ensure the completion of their qualifying examinations before the last date of the submission of the online application to the course.   

Age Limit: You should have completed 17 years of age before the last date for the submission of the online application.

The admission to these programmes completely depends on the student’s performance in the entrance examination.


How to apply

B.Sc (Agriculture) , BE/B.Tech & B.Sc

You should apply for KEAM online and send a printout filled application form to the CEE before January 30, 2018 (tentative)There are seven steps for online submission application. You should complete all steps and send a printout filled application form with necessary documents to CEE, Kerala on or before last date of form submission.

Visit the official website of KEAM and find the link “KEAM 2018 Online Application”.

Step 1 Candidate Registration: This is a one time process. You should fill all required details and click on submit button and after submission, an application number will be generated by system.

Step 2 Candidate Login: With the help of Application no and password You can login and complete all other steps.

Step 3 Fill Application Form: Fill all basic details and you should click the ‘Save’ button to save the entries made so far before proceeding to Step 4.

Step 4 Final Submission of Application Form: This is also a one time process. If you are sure that the information provided in step 3 is correct, click the link ‘Final Submission’. No correction of the application will be possible after final Submission of application in step 4.

Step 5 Payment of Application Fee: You can pay application fee through two following methods

  • Through Security Card: You can obtain security card from selected post offices in Kerala and other states, on payment of prescribed fee by cash. Security card is free of cost for ST candidates.
  • Through Demond Draft: You can pay application fee through Demand Draft (DD) drawn on a Nationalised/Scheduled Bank, in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, payable at Thiruvananthapuram.

Application Fee:

  • For General Candidates: INR 1000/-
  • For SC Candidates: INR 500/-
  • For ST Candidates: No Application fee

Step 6 Printout of Application Form: You should take a printout of the online submitted application.

Step 7 Send the printout of Application: Affix a photograph of the applicant with 3.5 x 4.5 cm size same as the photograph uploaded on the online application duly attested by the Head of the Institution which you studied last or by a Gazetted Officer. You should affix the left hand thumb impression in the space provided in the printout of the application. The applicant and parent should sign in the specified areas on the printout of the application and attach supporting documents/certificates and send to following address:

You will be required to produce all the original documents during the time of admission, failing which can result in the forfeiture of admission in the university.

In Case of Foreign Students:

The Foreign students should apply through their respective embassy/mission. The Ministry of Education would henceforth arrange for the admission through ICAR.  It is mandatory for the student’s VISA to be approved by the Government of India for a student VISA and not a tourist VISA. The eligibility certificate issued by the University will be send to the Ministry of Home Affairs to convert the tourist visa into a student’s visa.

In Case of Out of State Students:
If you seek to apply from another state than Kerala, you should apply to ICAR, Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi through your respective state government. In Union Territories of Andaman/Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands, seats are reserved for ethnic natives of those states. No restrictions will be imposed on the students apart from the ones prescribed with regards to the qualifying examination and percentage and other general requirements.

Note: If you belong to another state or you are a foreign resident, you need to pay a caution fees of Rs. 2400/- at the time of the admission which will be refundable.


Selection Procedure

B.Sc (Agriculture) , BE/B.Tech & B.Sc

Admission to the B.Sc.(Hons.) and B.Tech.courses depend on the entrance examinations, KEAM. The questions asked in this entrance exam will be objective type and will refer to your +2 syllabus. The allotment to this course will depend upon the results that will be declared by the University on May 25, 2018 (tentative).

If any seat of the reserved quota is not occupied then the seat will be automatically added in the State Merit. The seat that is un-availed by the SC candidates will go to ST category and vice-versa.

The communal reservations will be allowed only to the candidates applying as natives of Kerela.
