UPES UG & PG Admission 2017

University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) located in Dehradun, Uttrakhand was established under UPES Act 2003. UPES offer admission in several Under-Graduate & Post-Graduate courses namely. M.Tech, M.Design, B.Plan. &BFA. These courses have been offered by different schools of studies under UPES.

Students can secure admission by following the exam pathway (means exam conducted by UPES itself) & Non-Exam Pathway (merit based selection or entrance exam based of All India Level). Students can appear for the tests as per their score & convenience. Students can apply through any of the online or offline mode. Entrance exam will be conducted on different dates at different enrollment offices of UPES. Apart from the UPES entrance test, university also grant admission through other entrance tests of All India Level e.g. JEE Main/NATA & CEED.

Eligibility Criteria

B.Planning

Students looking for admission have to choose whether they want to appear for the UPES entrance test which is UPAT 2017 or other way, through JEE-Main. Students have to fulfill the separate eligibility criteria with respect to the test, in which they want to, appear for the test.

Age Criteria:

Those students will be eligible to apply whose Date of Birth falls on or before October 01, 1994.

Eligibility Criteria with respect to UPAT 2017-18:

Students must have passed SSC & HSC in any stream with 50% marks in aggregate along with Mathematics/Statistics or Business Mathematics as one of the compulsory subject.

Note: According to university guidelines a merit list based on Xth & XIIth marks will also be considered for admission. Merit list will include minimum 65% marks in aggregate along with Mathematics/Statistics or Business Mathematics as one of the compulsory subject.

Eligibility Criteria for admission through JEE-Main:

Students must have passed SSC & HSC with at least 50% marks in aggregate along with Mathematics/Statistics or Business Mathematics as one of the compulsory subject followed by valid score card of JEE Main or NATA.

Bachelor of Fine Arts [BFA] (Digital Art)

Students must have passed SSC & HSC in any stream with 50% marks in aggregate.

M.Des

  • Students must have passed SSC & HSC with at least 60% marks in aggregate.
  • Student with B. Tech / BE in any stream or B. Arch degree are eligible to apply.
  • Students with BFA of 4 year’s duration or B. Des or B.Sc in Design along with 1 year of foundation course in Applied Arts with minimum 50% marks are also eligible to apply.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Petroleum Exploration)

Students must have passed SSC & HSC with at least 60% marks in aggregate. This criterion is applicable to all specializations of M.Tech course.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who have passed B.Tech/B.E in Petroleum/Geo-Science/Geo-Informatics/Mechanical/Chemical stream or M.Sc in Geology/Geo-physics with 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Energy System Engineering)

Students who have passed B.Tech/B.E in Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical/Chemical/Instrumentation & Control with 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Pipeline Engineering)

Students who have passed B.Tech/B.E in Petroleum/Mechanical/Chemical/Civil stream with 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Process Design Engineering)

Students who have passed B.Tech/B.E in Petroleum/Chemical Technology/Chemical Engineering/Petro-chemical Engineering with 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Robotics Engineering)

Students who have passed B.Tech/B.E in Electronics/Mechanical/Instrumentation/CSE/Electrical/ Instrumentation & Control with 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Artificial Intelligence)

Students who have passed B.Tech/B.E in IT/CSE/EEE/ECE /Instrumentation & Control) with 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Computational Fluid Dynamics)

Students who have passed B.Tech/B.E in Aerospace/Aeronautical/Civil/Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Disaster Management)

Students who have passed B.Tech/B.E in Chemical/ Mechanical/ Electrical/ Civil/ Industrial Safety/ Petroleum Engineering/ Geo Science Engineering/ Fire Safety Engineering/ Electronics or Geo Informatics with 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles)

Students who have passed B.Tech/B.E in Aerospace/Aeronautical/Avionics/CSE/ECE/MECH/EEE/ EIE with minimum 60% marks with in aggregate are eligible to apply.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Offshore Structures)

Students who have passed B.Tech/B.E in Civil Engineering with 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Renewable Energy Engineering and Management)

Students who have passed B.Tech/B.E in Electrical / Electronics / EEE / Mechanical / Chemical / Instrumentation & Control Engineering   with 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Nuclear Science Engineering)

Students who have passed B.Tech/B.E in Mechanical/ Production & Industrial/ Mechatronics / Industrial Automation with 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.

Note:

  1. Students who are going to appear for their final degree examination are also eligible to apply provided they produce their eligibility proof prior to October 30, 2016.
  2. Students who will not be able to clear their qualifying subjects in one sitting or say placed in compartment will not be eligible for any programme offered by the university.
  3. Students with M.Sc. as qualifying degree require 60% marks in aggregate in B.Sc too.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Rotating Equipment)

Students who have passed B.Tech/B.E in Mechanical/ Production & Industrial/ Mechatronics / Industrial Automation with 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.

Note:

  1. Students who are going to appear for their final degree examination are also eligible to apply provided they produce their eligibility proof prior to October 30, 2016.
  2. Students who will not be able to clear their qualifying subjects in one sitting or say placed in compartment will not be eligible for any programme offered by the university.

How to Apply?

B.Planning , ME/M.Tech & M.Des

Aspirants looking for admission can apply for various courses offered by UPES through any of the online or offline mode within due dates.

Offline Mode:

  1. Students can obtain the information brochure & Application form from any of the listed enrollment offices of UPES namely, Dehradun, Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad or kochi after payment of INR 1750 as part of application fee.
  2. Students can also obtain the prospectus & application form through post after payment of INR 1850 in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favor of “UPES-Fee Account” payable at Dehradun or Delhi.

Online Mode:

  • UPES has its own web based application which allows students to submit their online application form, so to serve this purpose they have to visit to the official website of UPES.
  • First students have to select their status, whether they are Indian or Foreign nationals.
  • You are required to buy the application form by signing up initially. A sign up form will be displayed on the screen which is required to be filled by you completely (including the course which you want to pursue).
  • After submission of the form, you will receive an e-mail from UPES on the e-mail ID which you have provided at the time of form filling.
  • Now by clicking on the given link, you have to proceed further by providing all the required details.
  • After final submission of the application form, you have to pay the application fee by using credit/debit card or through net banking.

Note:

  1. Online application form submission process is applicable to those students who wish to submit the application in online mode
  2. Students are advised to not to click on the ‘BACK’ button while filling the online application form.
  3. After submission of the application form, you must take print out of the application form.


Selection Process

Bachelor of Fine Arts [BFA] (Digital Art)

Students have to appear for UPES-DAT 2017, an online entrance test conducted by the university. Shortlisted students, on the basis of marks obtained in entrance test, have to appear for subsequent rounds of Portfolio presentation & interview. Selected students will be separately informed for interview via e-mail.

B.Planning

Students will be shortlisted on the basis of marks secured in UPES Planning Aptitude Test (UPAT).

In case of students applying through JEE Main or NATA, a merit list will be prepared by UPES admission authority to confirm the seat.

ME/M.Tech

Students will be selected on the basis of performance in UPES M.Tech Engineering Entrance Test (UPES-MEET). Student with valid GATE score are also eligible for UPES M.Tech programme. These students will be exempted from the university entrance test.

UPES-MEET is the online test of one hour duration comprises of total 60 questions from General Aptitude, English, Engineering Mathematics & General Engineering.

M.Des

Students have to appear for UPES-DAT 2017, an online entrance test conducted by the university. Shortlisted students on the basis of marks obtained in entrance test, have to appear for subsequent rounds of Portfolio presentation & interview. Selected students will be separately informed for interview via e-mail.

Students can also apply on the basis of any of 2016 or 2017 CEED score, & those students will be exempted from UPES-DAT.


Scholarships

25% fee discount will be offered to the students belong to Uttrakhand state provided they must fulfill the below mentioned conditions:

  • Those students are eligible whose gross family income is not more than 3 Lakhs.
  • Students who have a ‘Sthai Niwas Praman Patra’ issued by the Uttrakhand state.
  • Those students who have passed class Xth & XIIth from Uttrakhand board are eligible for 25% fee waiver. This condition is relaxed for defence personal provided they produce the valid certificate regarding its approval.
