VELS University B.Pharm. and M.Pharm. Admissions 2018

VELS University, Chennaiconsists of different schools which offer under-graduate, post-graduate and research courses in diverse streams such as engineering, management studies, physiotherapy, hotel and catering management, mass communication, basic sciences, life sciences etc.

The university offers the following programmes in pharmaceutical sciences:

  • Bachelors of pharmacy (B.Pharm)
  • Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm)
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D)

For admission to the pharmacy programmes, candidate should have a pass in 10+2 with at least 50% aggregate in physics, chemistry, maths or biology. Candidate’sselection will be based on his/her performance in VelsEntranceExam (VEE) conducted by the institute.

Candidate can obtain application forms through post by sending a demand draft for Rs. 850/- in favour of "The Registrar, Vels University". Candidate can also download the application forms from the university website or apply online by submitting the processing fee of Rs.800/-

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor of Pharmacy [B.Pharm]

Eligibility: Candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology / Botany & Zoology according to PCI norms.

Master of Pharmacy [M.Pharm] (Pharmaceutics)

  2. M.Pharmacy (Pharmacology)
  3. M.Pharmacy (Pharmacognosy)
  4. M.Pharmacy Pharmaceutical Chemistry)
  5. M.Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical Analysis)
  6. M.Pharmacy (Pharmacy Practice)
  7. M.Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical Biotechnology)

Eligibility: Candidate must possess a degree in B.Pharmacy from recognized university and PCI. Those appearing for their final semester examination of the qualifying degree in the concerned year of admission are also eligible to apply.

Pharm.D

Eligibility: Candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology / Botany & Zoology in accordance with the norms of PCI. Those appearing for their final semester examination of the qualifying degree in the concerned year of admission are also eligible to apply.

Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate)

Eligibility: Candidate must have degree in B.Pharmacy from a recognized university and PCI. Those appearing for their final semester examination of the qualifying degree in the concerned year of admission are also eligible to apply.

 


Application Process

For applying to Pharmacy programs of the Vels University, candidate can choose any of the following methods:

  • Candidate can opt for applying online through the official website and the processing fee can be submitted using Credit Card / Debit Card / Net Banking payment modes
  • Candidate can download application form and prospectus from the university website and send the duly filled-in applications, along with the processing fee of Rs. 800/- through demand draft (DD), to the following address:

  • Candidate can also obtain the form by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with the DD of Rs. 550/- to the above mentioned address. DD should  be drawn in favour of “Registrar, Vels University" payable at Chennai
  • Candidate can obtain the application form in person from the Office of Vels University, Chennai upon payment of the processing fee of Rs.500/- in cash
  • In case of acquiring the application form in person or through post, the candidate must enclose a DD of Rs. 300/- along with the filled-in applications

Enclosures:

At the time of admission, the candidate must bring the original and photocopies of the following documents:

  1. 3 Passport Size photographs of the candidate
  2. Two self-addressed stamped (Rs.10/-) envelope
  3. Mark Sheet of the qualifying examination or equivalent.
  4. Provisional Pass Certificate / Degree Certificate of the qualifying examination.
  5. Transfer Certificate and Conduct Certificate from the Institute last studied.
  6. Community Certificate.
  7. Entrance examination mark sheet.

For Foreign candidates:

Foreign candidates must bring the following documents, original as well as photocopies, at the time of admission:

  1. No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, New Delhi. 
  2. Eligibility Certificate from the respective University
  3. Appropriate Student Visa

Reservation

Students from under-privileged and socially handicapped sections are admitted to the University according to All India Reservation policy.


Note

  • Scholarships offered:

Candidates will be provided with scholarship according to their rank in the Vels entrance examination (VEE).

  • Hostel Facilities:

For men and women, there are separate hostels within the campus.  

  1. Laundry facility is available on chargeable basis.
  2. Medical attendant is available.
  3. Mess and canteen facility is available.
  4. Indoor and outdoor games are offered.
