Annamalai University Marine Science Admissions 2017

Founded in 1929, Annamalai University is the first private university and one of Asia's largest public residential universities located in India. The university is one of the first institutions in the country to offer courses of higher education in science, engineering, humanities, agriculture and arts. A pioneer in imparting quality education, it was taken over by the Tamil Nadu government in 2013 and has emerged as one of the largest public residential university with 10 faculties and 49 departments of study. The university also provides more than 500 courses through distance learning mode.

The university offers the following programmes through the Faculty of Marine Sciences:

  • Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc.)
  • Masters of Science (M.Sc.) (6 disciplines)

Admission of candidates to the B.F.Sc programme will be done on the basis of their performance in the qualifying examination. Candidates will be shortlisted for M.Sc in marine science programmes based on their performance in entrance examination and interview, conducted by the university.

Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria can register themselves by downloading the concerned application form available at the university website. Completed applications should be submitted to the university office, along with the processing fee of Rs. 800/- and Rs.400/- for B.F.Sc. and M.Sc. courses in marine sciences respectively, to complete the registration process.

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor of Fisheries Science [BFSc]

Candidates should have passed Higher Secondary Course (10+2) / CBSE / any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto under the following conditions:

  • Candidates who belong to OC, BC/BCM category must possess 60% marks in Biology/Zoology and Botany. MBC/DNC category candidates should have scored at least 55% aggregate in these subjects and for SC/ST candidates, minimum pass is sufficient
  • Candidates who belong to OC, BC/BCM category must possess 60% marks in Physics and Chemistry taken together. MBC/DNC category candidates should have scored at least 55% aggregate and for SC/ST candidates, minimum pass is sufficient

For candidates from Vocational Stream: 

  • Students who belong to OC, BC/BCM category must possess 60% marks in Biology. MBC/DNC category candidates should have scored at least 55% aggregate and for SC/ST candidates, minimum pass is sufficient
  • Students who belong to OC, BC/BCM category must possess 60% marks in Vocational subjects (Only the subject of Fisheries). MBC/DNC category candidates should have scored at least 55% aggregate. For SC/ST candidates, minimum pass is sufficient

How to Apply

Bachelor of Fisheries Science [BFSc] , Master of Science [M.Sc] (Marine Biology/ Aquatic Biology and Fisheries) & Master of Science [M.Sc] (Marine Biotechnology)

Candidates can register themselves for the B.F.Sc /M.Sc in Marine Science courses through the online application process.

  • Candidate should log on to the official university website and fill the concerned application form to register for the B.F.Sc./ M.Sc. programmes.
  • Upon filling-in all the relevant details, candidate will be allotted an online application number for future correspondence. 
  • Candidate should also submit a registration fee of Rs. 800/- (For B.F.Sc. programme) and Rs. 400/- (For M.Sc. courses) through demand draft (DD). DD should be drawn in favour of The Registrar, Annamalai University and payable at Chennai. For SC/ST candidates, the registration fee is Rs. 400/- and Rs. 200/- for B.F.sc. and M.Sc. programmes respectively  
  • Completed applications, along with the necessary enclosures and registration fee, should be downloaded and submitted either by speed / Registered post or in person to the following address:

Selection Process

Bachelor of Fisheries Science [BFSc]

Candidates will be selected for admission to B.F.Sc. programme on the basis of qualifying degree examination merit.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Marine Biology/ Aquatic Biology and Fisheries) , Master of Science [M.Sc] (Marine Biotechnology) & Master of Science [M.Sc] (Marine Microbiology and Biotechnology)

Selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of qualifying examination marks and performance in the interview conducted by the interview.

Seats will be reserved for candidates belonging to ST/SC/SCA/MBC/DNC//BC/ BCM/OC communities as per rules and regulations of the Government of Tamil Nadu
