VELS University, Chennai consists of different schools which offer courses in multiple streams of engineering, management studies, physiotherapy, hotel and catering management, mass communication, basic sciences, life sciences etc. The courses offered are approved by AICTE and other reputed bodies such as Pharmacy Council of India, Indian Association of Physiotherapists and Director General of Shipping.

The university offers various under graduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) programs in various disciplines which are discussed below. Students can obtain the application and prospectus through post or online.

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Nautical Science)

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must pass in +2 or at least 60% aggregate in physics, chemistry, maths, and at least 50% in English at 10th and +2.
  • Maximum age limit of the candidate is 25 years, and candidate should be physically fit with minimum vision 6/6 in each eye with no colour blindness.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Biotechnology)

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 with biology or computer science (In computer’s candidate must have studied biology in 1st semester).

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Biochemistry)

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 with Biology as a main subject.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Computer Science) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Information Technology)

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 with Maths or Computer Science/Business Maths/Statistics.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Chemistry)

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2, HSC or equivalent with Biology/Physics/Chemistry/Maths.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Visual Communication) , Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Animation) & Bachelor of Arts [BA] (English)

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy [BPT]

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must possess at least 50% aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Botany & Zoology.

Bachelor of Computer Applications [B.C.A.] & Bachelor of Computer Applications [B.C.A] {Hons.}

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 with Maths or Computer Science/Business Maths/Statistics.

B.Com

  • B.Com (General)

Eligibility: Candidate must have 10+2 with Commerce stream subjects.

  • B.Com. (Professional)

Eligibility: Candidate must have passed 10+2.

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must possess Degree in B.Sc. Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Biology, Biotech., Biochemistry, Microbiology, Home Science, Physics, Genetics, B.Sc.Agri., B.Usc., B.Fsc., BDS, MBBS or B.Pharm.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Microbiology & Immunology)

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must possess a degree in B.Sc. Bio Sciences or Life Sciences.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Pharmaceutical Chemistry)

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must possess a degree in B.Sc. Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Biology, Biotech., Biochemistry, Microbiology, Home Science, Physics, Nutrition & Dietetics.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Organic Chemistry)

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must possess Degree in B.Sc. Chemistry, Chemical Technology and Chemical Engineering.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Chemistry)

Courses offered in M.Sc. Chemistry:

  • M.Sc. General Chemistry
  • M.Sc. Cheminformatics

Eligibility: Candidate must have a degree in B.Sc. Chemistry.

Master of Science [M.Sc.] (Information Technology) & Master of Science [M.Sc] (Software Technology)

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must possess a degree with Maths or Statistics or Mathematical Physics as main / allied subject

 

Master of Science [M.Sc.] (Hotel & Catering Management)

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must possess Degree in B.Sc. HCM, Nutrition & Dietetics, Food Service Management.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Animation)

Eligibility: Candidate must have a graduation degree in any discipline.

Master of Arts [MA] (English) & M.A. (Film & TV Production)

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must possess under graduate degree.

Master of Physiotherapy(MPT)

  1. M.P.T. (Orthopaedics)
  2. M.P.T. (Sports Physiotherapy)
  3. M.P.T. (Pediatric Neurology)
  4. M.P.T. (Cardio – Respiratory Diseases)
  5. M.P.T. (Hand Conditions)

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must possess B.P.T. degree from recognized university.


Application Process

B.Sc , BCA & B.Com

For applying to any of the UG & PG programme mentioned above of the VELS University, candidate can choose any of the following methods:

  • Candidate can opt for applying online through the official website and the processing fee can be submitted using Credit Card / Debit Card / Net Banking payment modes
  • Candidate can download application form and prospectus from the university website and send the duly filled-in applications, along with the processing fee of Rs. 350/- through demand draft (DD) butfor B.A, LL.B-Hons this DD amount is of Rs. 800/- to the following address:

  • Candidate can also obtain the form by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with the DD of Rs. 400/- to the above mentioned address. DD should be drawn in favour of “Registrar, Vels University" payable at Chennai butfor B.A, LL.B-Hons this DD amount is of Rs. 550/- .
  • Candidate can obtain the application form in person from the Office of Vels University, Chennai upon payment of the processing fee of Rs.350/- in cash.
  • In case of B.A, LL.B-Hons candidate acquiring the application form in person or through post, the candidate must enclose a DD of Rs. 300/- along with the filled-in applications

Enclosures:

At the time of admission, the candidate must bring the original and photocopies of the following documents:

  1. 3 Passport Size photographs of the candidate
  2. Two self-addressed stamped (Rs.10/-) envelope
  3. Mark Sheet of the qualifying examination or equivalent.
  4. Provisional Pass Certificate / Degree Certificate of the qualifying examination.
  5. Transfer Certificate and Conduct Certificate from the Institute last studied.
  6. Community Certificate.
  7. Entrance examination mark sheet.
  8. For B.Sc nautical science proof of date of birth is also required with the above mentioned documents.

For Foreign candidates:

Foreign candidates must bring the following documents, original as well as photocopies, at the time of admission:

  1. No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, New Delhi. 
  2. Eligibility Certificate from the respective University
  3. Appropriate Student Visa


Selection Process

B.Sc , BCA & M.Sc

  • Selection of the candidate will be done on the basis of their score in the VEE, and their marks in the qualifying examination
  • Candidate’s selection for U.G and P.G programme will also be done based on their performance in Personal Interview
  • Shortlisted candidates should report to the Directors of Schools / Heads of the Department on the specified date and time.


Reservation

Students from under-privileged and socially handicapped sections are admitted to the University according to All India Reservation policy.


Notes

  • Scholarships offered for above mentioned UG and PG programmes :

Candidate will get scholarship according to the rank in the Vels entrance examination.

  • Hostel Facilities:

For men and women, there are separate hostels within the campus.  

  1. Laundry facility is available on chargeable basis.
  2. Medical attendant is available.
  3. Mess and canteen facility is available.
  4. Indoor and outdoor games are offered.
