The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University (TNMGRMU) is a government medical university and is the 2nd largest health sciences university in India. The university has different departments which offer a multitude of medical courses at undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and doctoral level.

TNMGRMU offers various UG courses under the Allied Health Sciences stream through the concerned faculties available at the university. The university offers the following UG programmes to its students:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.)
  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.
  • Bachelor of Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing)
  • Post Basic Bachelor of Nursing (PB-B.Sc. Nursing)
  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy (B.P.T.)
  • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (B.O.T.)

Admission to the above mentioned UG programmes is done through marks secured by the candidates in the university entrance examination. Candidates can register themselves through online application process upon submitting the prescribed application fee of Rs. 1400/- along with completed relevant original certificates.

Eligibility Criteria

B.Sc (Nursing)

B.Sc. in Nursing (Basic)

Candidate must pass in 10+2 with science (PCB) and English core/English elective with 45% aggregate marks from recognized board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or equivalent.Candidate shall be medically fit

Post Basic-B.Sc. Nursing

Eligibility: Candidate must have pass in Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary/ Intermediate or 10+2 or an equivalent examination recognized by the University

Bachelor of Pharmacy [B.Pharm]

  • Candidate must have completed 10+2 examination conducted by state/central government as equivalent by AIU i.e. Association of Indian Universities with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology as optional subjects individually
  • Those who have passed 10+2 from Open School education system of the Central Government/ State Government institutions are also eligible for admission to B.Pharm Degree Course

Bachelor of Physiotherapy [BPT]

Bachelor of Physiotherapy:

  • Candidates must have studied physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Botany and Zoology in their 12 years study of Higher Secondary Course Examination
  • Candidates who have passed the senior Secondary School Examination of National Open School are also eligible provided such students have cleared a minimum of 5 subjects with any of the following group subjects:
  1. English, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology.
  2. English, Physics, Chemistry Biology and any other language

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy:

Eligibility: Candidate must have studied physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Botany and Zoology after 12 years study of Higher Secondary Course Examination

B.Sc

  • Candidate must have studied physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Botany and Zoology after 12 years study of Higher Secondary Course Examination.
  • Candidate must be medically fit
  • Candidate must have studied physics, chemistry, biology and English in their 12 years of schooling from a recognized board with 45% of marks and for SC/ST candidates 35% marks is must.

Medical Laboratory Technology:

Eligibility: Candidate must have studied physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Botany and Zoology after 12 years study of Higher Secondary Course Examination.

Optometry Technology:

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must have studied physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Botany and Zoology after years study of Higher Secondary Course Examination
  • Candidate must pass in English with 35% mandatory marks for all categories


How to Apply

Bachelor of Physiotherapy [BPT] , Bachelor of Occupational Therapy & B.Pharm

For Indian candidates:

  • Candidates can fill the online application form available at the university website and submit it along with the required fee to complete the registration process
  • Candidate must submit the registration fee of Rs. 1200/- for application and eligibility certificate through online payment gateway for students. The application and eligibility certificate fee is non-refundable

For NRI candidates:

  • Candidates who have passed advanced level qualification and central board examination in foreign countries can also submit application and eligibility fee amount of Rs. 10,100/- through Demand Draft (DD) in favour of The Registrar, Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai.
  • Candidate should be of Indian origin settled in foreign countries or should be born to parents of Indian origin in a foreign country. Candidate seeking admission under NRI quota must possess Indian passport

Enclosures:

  1. Higher Secondary School certificate Examination Statement of Marks (+2 Course or Equivalent Examination) Degree Certificate.
  2. Transfer Certificate
 


Admission Process

Selection of the candidates to the above mentioned UG programme will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance examination, conducted by the university.
