IIPS Mumbai MA, M.Sc. and MPS Admission 2018

International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) is a public university, established in 1956 in Mumbai, earlier known as International Institute for Population Studies. Besides teachings and research activities, university also provides consultancy to the Government and Non-Government organizations and other academic institutions.

The university offers the following Post-graduate courses to its students in selected discipline:

Admission of candidates to the above-mentioned programmes is done on the basis of their performance in written test and personal interview.

Candidates who wish to apply can register themselves by submitting completed applications, along with the processing fees of Rs. 500/- and all the necessary enclosures. For SC/ST/PH candidates, there is no processing fee.

Eligibility Criteria

Master of Arts [MA] (Population Studies) , Master of Science [M.Sc] (Habitat and Population Studies) & MA

  • Candidates must possess bachelor’s degree in social sciences including Mathematics and Statistics from recognized universities in India or abroad with at least 55% aggregate of marks in all subjects
  • Preference will be given to the candidates who possess bachelor’s degree in one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Geography and Anthropology, Rural Development & Political Science
  • For non-social science background candidates, they must possess experience in population and health related field
  • Candidate age should not be more than 25 years on or before June 30, 2017.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Biostatistics and Epidemiology)

  • Candidates must possess bachelor’s degree in core subjects of mathematics or statistics or with at least two papers or mathematics or statistics with minimum 55% of aggregate marks in all subjects from recognized universities in India or abroad.
  • Candidate Age should not be more than 25 years on or before June 30, 2017.

Master of Population Studies [MPS]

  • Candidates must possess post-graduate degree in social sciences including any of the following disciplines: Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Geography, and Anthropology with minimum 55% aggregate marks in all subjects.
  • Candidate age should not be more than 25 years on or before June 30, 2017

  • Candidates can obtain the application form and prospectus in person or through post by sending a self-addressed Rs. 50/- stamped envelope on or before March 25, 2018 (tentative), to the following address:

  • Candidates can register themselves by submitting duly filled-in applications and all the necessarily enclosures, along with the fee of Rs. 500/- through DD drawn from any nationalised Bank in favour of “The Director, IIPS, Mumbai” to the Assistant Registrar (Academic). Candidates can also submit the processing fee in cash at the university cash counter.

Enclosures:

  1. No objection certificate from employer.
  2. Marks sheets of all previous semesters.
  3. Category certificate (if applicable)


Admission Process

Master of Arts [MA] (Population Studies) , Master of Science [M.Sc] (Habitat and Population Studies) & Master of Population Studies [MPS]

  • Selection of the candidate will be based on their performance in the written test and personal interview.
  • There will be no entrance test conducted for foreign candidates. Foreign candidates will be selected directly if they fulfil the eligibility criteria of institute.

Fellowship:

Selected Indian student will be awarded by Government of India fellowship of Rs.5000/- per month.
