Vinayaka Mission University B.Tech, M.Tech and B.Arch Admission 2018

Vinayaka Mission University offers B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch and M.E/M.Tech programmes for a period of 4 years, 5 years and 2 years respectively. There is lateral entry available in B.E. and B.Tech courses after a year which makes the course duration that of 2 years, while one can also pursue it for 3 ½ years as a part time course. M.E and M.Tech programmes are for the given duration of 2 years.

These courses are offered in the two campuses of the Vinayaka Mission University, the Vinayaka Missions Kirupananda Variyar Engineering College, Salem and Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, Chennai. The admissions to these programs happen through AICEE, the All India Common Entrance Examination

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates applying for B.E. and B.Tech programmes require passing marks in 10+2 with the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology. Candidates with no knowledge of Mathematics in +2 will only be eligible for branches namely Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology. Others will be eligible for all the branches. Candidates appearing in the final exams of the qualifying examination can also apply to these programmes.

Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science & Software Engineering)

B.Tech courses are offered by the faculty of Engineering and Technology in the following fields:

  • Information Technology
  • Bio-Technology

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates applying for B.E. and B.Tech programmes require passing marks in 10+2 with the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology.   • Computer Forensic and IT Securities

Eligibility Criteria

In case of M.E/M.Tech programmes, a pass in the Bachelor’s program equivalent to the course applied for will be accepted. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination can also apply to this course.

B.Arch

For B.Arch course, passing marks in 10+2 from a recognized board/university with a minimum of 50% of the aggregate marks or 10+3 year diploma in any stream recognized by the Central/State government with 50% aggregate marks of International Baccalaureate diploma after 10 years of schooling with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and with Mathematics as a compulsory subject will be required. Also, the candidate should secure a minimum percentage of 40% marks in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) that can be taken in SSA premises.  Note that candidates should have completed 17 years of age on or before the 31st December of the year of admission.

All the candidates who have applied and fulfilled all the procedures for the registration to the entrance examination will be sent admit cards for their respective CEE before the test date.

The answer sheets are evaluated via computers unless the number of applications is small.

 The counselling will begin in the month of May/June 2018. The counselling letter will; be sent to the candidates after they have secured their positions in the rank lists that will be published shortly after the commencement of the entrance exam.

It is important to carry the following documents while the admission takes place:

  • Character Certificate
  • Community Certificate (if applied under reservation)
  • Migration and Provisional certificates
  • Physical fitness certificate
  • 8 Recent Passport size pictures

The tuition fees is Rs. 20000/- which will have to paid through demand drafts at the time of counselling.


Admission Process

BE/B.Tech

Entrance Exams

For B.E./B.Tech courses:

The questions asked in the CEE exam are objective type. The candidate is given 3 hours to complete the question paper that consists of 360 questions. The distribution of marks are as follows:

Part 1: Physical Sciences (180 marks, 3 marks for each correct answer)

  • Physics (30 Questions)
  • Chemistry (30 Questions)

Part 2: Biology (180 marks, 3 Marks for each correct answer)

  • Biology (60 Questions)

Part 3: Mathematics (180 marks, 4 marks for each correct answer)

  • Mathematics (45 Questions)

Note: There will be no negative marking in this paper.

The candidates will be ranked as per their performance in the CEE Exams. In case there is a tie between two candidates it will be resolved on the following basis:

Priority will be given to candidates who have higher marks in the subjects Maths/Biology in the CEE. If the tie persists, higher marks in Physics will be taken into consideration. If it still exists, higher total marks (Math/Biology + Physics + Chemistry) will be taken into consideration. In case of a persistent tie-up, higher marks in Math/Biology in Qualifying Exam will be considered, then higher marks in Physics in Qualifying Exam will be taken into consideration after that. If the tie persists even after this lengthy process, the elder candidate will be given preference.

ME/M.Tech

The paper is of 2 hours and consists of 300 objective type questions. 3 marks will be awarded for every correct answer and a negative marking of 1 will be carried out for every wrong answer. The question breakup is as follows:

Section 1: Engineering Mathematics (25 Questions)

Section 2: Basic Engineering and Science (25 Questions)

Sections 3: Qualifying Branch(es) (50 Questions)

The candidates will be ranked as per their performance in the CEE Exams. In case there is a tie between two candidates, it will be resolved on the following basis:

Priority will be given to candidates who have higher marks in CEE, if tie still persists, higher marks in section 3 will be considered and then Section 2. In case the tie still exists, higher percentage in the qualifying examination will decide the candidate’s rank. If the tie-up still  exists, it will be resolved by giving priority to the elder candidate.
