Manipal University M.Phil and Ph.D Admission 2017

Manipal Universityprovides M.Phil, Ph.D., D.Pharm and D.Ppharm(Post Basic) for which application is released on different dates. These programmes are offered in different specializations having different eligibility criteria. Candidates can apply for these programmes through online mode for which they require a scan copy of photograph and signature. Payment for the application can be made through Net banking/Debit card/Credit card. Selection for these programmes is made through an online entrance test conducted by the University. Selection for Ph.D. is made whenever the university has the research grants and needs research scholars. Application for Ph.D. is made throughout the year and is processed quarterly. University also provides financial aid and scholarship to deserving candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

M.Phil/Ph.D in Pharmacy , M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Medicine

Duration: 2 years

NOTE:

  • Duration for M.Phil. in natural Sciences is 18 months.
  • Duration for M.Phil. in regenerative medicine is 1 year.
  • Duration for M.Phil. in Nursing is 1 year for full-time mode and 2 years for part-time mode.

‚ÄčEligibility:

For Nursing:

Candidates are required to have done M.Sc. Nursing which has to be recognised by the Indian Nursing Council with at least 60% marks.

For Natural Sciences:

Candidates are required to have M.Tech or M.Sc. in a relevant subject, to take admission in M.Phil. Natural Sciences programme.

For Clinical Psychology:

For M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology, candidates are required to have a M.Sc. or M.A. in Clinical Psychology with at least 55% marks.

For Regenerative Medicine:

Candidates are required to have done M.Sc. in life science/M.Sc. Biotechnology/MBBS/MDS/M.Pharm/MD/M.Sc. in regenerative medicine/M.Sc. in clinical embryology with at least 50% marks are eligible for the course.

For Psychiatric Social Work:

Candidates should have done MSW from any recognised University with at least 55% marks to be eligible for the course.

Pharm.D

Duration: 6 years

NOTE: An Internship of ONE year is also included in the course duration.

Eligibility: Those candidates who have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and English as main subjects and Mathematics/Biology as optional subjects are eligible for the course.

NOTE: Those candidates who have passed 10+2 from ‘National Open School” are not eligible for admission to PharmD programme under the Pharmacy Act.

Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate)

Duration: 3 years

NOTE: An Internship of ONE year is also included in the course duration.

Eligibility: Candidates are required to have done B.Pharm from an institution recognised by the Pharmacy Council of India with at least 50% marks.

Application Process

M.Phil/Ph.D in Pharmacy , M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Medicine

Candidates can apply for the programme by visiting to Manipal University website. There are two different sections for application, one is for the Indian admissions and another is for international admissions.

Indian admissions are done for Indian nationals for whom the application fee is INR 600 and entrance test fee is INR 1400. International admissions are done for foreign national for whom the application fee is INR 2500. Application is submitted in 5 simple steps:

Here candidate is required to select the program and make the online payment for that programme.

Admission Process

M.Phil/Ph.D in Pharmacy , M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Medicine

Candidates are required to appear in Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU-OET), for getting admission in the M.Phil, Ph.D. and Pharm. D programmes. Candidates are provided with the facility to select their test slot and centre according to their convenience.

University will release a merit list of those candidates who have qualified the entrance test. These students are required to appear in an interview and group discussion.

User facts:

  • Inclusion of name in the merit list based on the entrance test doesn’t promises the selection, a final merit list will be released by the university based on the performance of candidates in qualifying exams, GD and interview.
  • A separate Merit list will be released for foreign/NRI candidates.
  • Selection for Ph.D. is made whenever the University will have research grants with the provision to select the candidates.

Financial Aid:

The State Bank of India provides financial support to those students who are meritorious but lags on financial aspects.

Bank provides a loan of INR 7.5 lakhs to deserving candidates without any security. This amount may be extended to INR 30 lakhs if candidates produce something as a security for the money taken as loan.  Bank allows the repayment of loan by the candidate up to 12 years.

Parent’s annual Income scholarship:

Up to INR 3 lakhs: 100%

3 lakhs to 5 lakhs: 90%

5 lakhs to 7.5 lakhs: 75%

7.5 lakhs to 10 lakhs: 50%

10 lakhs to 12.5 lakhs: 25%

Above 12.5 lakhs: 10%

NOTE:

  • Those candidates, who are eligible for 100% scholarship, should have to pay 5% of the annual fee or 5% of family annual income, whichever is less.
  • To claim for the scholarship candidates are required to provide an attested copy of Income Tax return of parents’ income.
  • Scholarship does not contains hostel fees, expenses on books etc.

Konkani speaking students:

There is also a provision of providing scholarship to those candidates who have linguistic command on Konkani language. They are provided with the waiver of 10% in the course fee.
