Established in 1916, University of Mysore is a public state university located in Mysore, Karnataka, India. In addition to 122 affiliated colleges and five constituent colleges, the university has 37 postgraduate departments, eight specialized research and training centres, and two postgraduate centres that together offer a total of about 55 regular academic programmes. It runs a number of employment-oriented diploma as well as certificate courses and also offers research programmes such as Ph.D and M.Phil. under the following faculties:

Those seeking admission can download the application form available at the official university website or obtain it in person / through post from the university office. Duly filled-in applications should be submitted along with required processing fee and necessary enclosures, on or before due date. Admission to the research programmes is done on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the qualifying degree examination and Entrance Examination.

Application Process

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts , M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Commerce

  • Candidates can register for admission to M.Phil programme by filling the application forms and submitting the same along with the fee and supporting documents. Application forms can be obtained either online/by post/in person.
  • Candidates can obtain the application forms in person from Cash Counter, Administrative Office, University of Mysore upon paying the required fee of Rs. 200/- in cash
  • Candidates can obtain the application forms by post, by sending a requisition letter along with a DD for Rs. 300/- (Rs. 100/- towards the postal charges) drawn in favour of “The Finance Officer, UOM, Mysore”.
  • Application forms can also be downloaded from the official university website. In such cases, candidate must enclose a DD for Rs. 200/- drawn in favour of “The Finance Officer, UOM, and Mysore”. Candidates must write his/her name and course in the back side of the Demand Draft.
  • Completed applications, in all respects, should reach within the stipulated time to the following address:

Selection Process

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts , M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Commerce

Candidates will be selected for the programme on the basis of their marks in the qualifying merit /entrance examination followed by the counselling session.

Is there viva for m.phil admission?

Hi Rakesh, There is No viva for M.Phil, candidates will be selected on the basis of their marks in the qualifying merit /entrance examination followed by the counselling session.
