Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) PG Admissions 2017

Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) offers three Under Graduat and three post graduate programme in various disciplines. It also offers Ph.D. programmes in 23 disciplines. All candidates desires of getting admission to PG programmes in KAU have to qualify an entrance exam conducted by the university. The application will start from June 20, 2017 (tentative) and it will be closed on July 07, 2017 (tentative). For Ph.D. programme, admission will be based on interview.

KAU offers all PG and Ph.D. programme at following campus in Kerala.

Admission to PG courses in based on Performance in entrance exam and academic performance. The entrance exam will be held on August 08, 2017 (tentative).

ME/M.Tech

The KAU offers two year M.Tech. programme in following disciplines at Kelappaji College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, Tavanur:

  • M.Tech. Agricultural Engineering (Farm Power & Machinery)
  • M.Tech. Agricultural Engineering (Soil and Water Engineering)
  • M.Tech. Agricultural Engineering (Agricultural Processing & Food Engineering)

Eligibility Criteria for M.Tech programmes:

You must have a bachelor degree in Agricultural Engineering or an equivalent degree recognized by KAU with an OGPA of 6.50/10.00 for General Category and 6.00/10.00 for SC/ST candidates. Students in the final semester of their degree programme are also eligible to apply. However, the result notification should be produced at the time of Entrance Examination for PG Course.

Eligibility for M.Sc. Agriculture / Horticulture (all disciplines except Statistics, Home Science and Co-operation & Banking)

You must have a Bachelor’s degree in the respective subject/ equivalent degree recognised by KAU with an OGPA of 6.50/10.00 for General Category candidates and 6.00/10.00 for SC/ST candidates.

 

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Home Science)

You must have a Bachelor degree in Home Science/Family and Community Science with 50% marks from a recognized university or B Sc. (Hons.) Agri. of KAU or equivalent. Minimum OGPA requirement for KAU students shall be 6.50/10.00 for General Category candidates and 6.00/10.00 for SC/ST candidates.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Agricultural Statistics)

You must have a bachelor degree in Agriculture or equivalent recognized by KAU with an OGPA of 6.50/10.00 for General Category candidates and 6.00/10.00 for SC/ST. If you have a bachelor degree in B. Sc. Mathematics/Statistics with 50% marks from a recognised University can also apply.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Co-operative Management)

You must have a B.Sc. (Hons.) C& B Degree of the KAU or an equivalent degree recognized by KAU with an OGPA of 6.50/10.00 for General Category candidates and 6.00/10.00 for SC/ST.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Forestry)

A basic degree in Forestry/ Agriculture/ Horticulture/ BVSc. & AH (for Wildlife Science only) or equivalent degree recognized by KAU with an OGPA of 6.50/10.00 for General Category candidates and 6.00/10.00 for SC/ST.  Degree holders with higher Grade Certificate from Ranger's College or with Diploma in Forestry from State Forest College/Indian Forest College, Dehradun are also eligible.

Note: Students in the final semester of their degree programme are also eligible to apply. However, the result notification should be produced at the time of Entrance Examination for PG Course.

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science , M.Phil/Ph.D in Agriculture & M.Phil/Ph.D in Engineering

Eligibility for Ph.D. programme except in Home Science & Rural Marketing Management

You must have Master’s Degree in the respective discipline /related discipline from the faculty concerned of KAU or a recognised equivalent qualification with an OGPA of 7.0/10.0 for general category and 6.5/10.0 for SC/ST. A basic degree in Agri./Hort./Ag.Engg./Forestry is essential for all courses except Home Science and Rural Marketing Management.

Ph.D. (Home Science)

You must have M Sc. Degree in Home Science with specialization in Food Science and Nutrition/M Sc. in Food Science and Nutrition recognised by KAU with an OGPA of 7.0/10.0 for general category and 6.5/10.0 for SC/ST or 60% marks for general category and 50% marks for SC/ST under traditional system.

Ph.D. (Rural Management)

You must have Master’s Degree in the respective discipline /related discipline from the faculty concerned of KAU or a recognized equivalent qualification with an OGPA of 7.0/10.0 for general category and 6.5/10.0 for SC/ST or MBA (ABM) with an OGPA of 7.0/10.0 for general category and 6.5/10.0 for SC/ST.

Note: Students in the final semester of their degree programme are also eligible to apply. However, the result notification should be produced at the time of Interview for Ph. D. Programme.

How to apply for M.Tech, M.Sc. and Ph.D. programme?

M.Sc (Agriculture) , M.Sc & ME/M.Tech

You can apply online or download application forms for PG courses from the official website of KAU. Last date for online application is 15 July, 2017 (tentative).Application forms and prospectus for admission to the above PG programmes are available in the official website of KAU. You should apply for PG and Ph.D. Programme programme through online and take a printout of hard copy of the application.

You should send a hard copy of application form along with the required documents and fees  details to the Registrar, Kerala Agricultural University, KAU P.O., Thrissur, Kerala - 680 656 within 7 days to the last date prescribed for the submission of online application.

Application Fee:

For Master Degree Programme

  • General Candidates: INR 1000/-
  • SC/ST Candidates: INR 500/-

For Ph.D. Programme

  • General Candidates: INR 1250/-
  • SC/ST Candidates: INR 750/-

Make Payment of Application Fee:

If you belong to Kerala then you can remit application fee at any branch o SBT Bank. If you belong to another state then you should pay application through Demand draft drawn I favour of Comptroller, KAU at SBT, KAU main campus branch.

  • For Keralite Students: Fee may be remitted by pay in slip at any SBT Branch in the state, to the Kerala Agricultural University Comptroller’s SB Account No. 57006546701 maintained at SBT, KAU Branch Main Campus, Vellanikkara and the counterfoil of the remittance slip must be attached along with the hardcopy of application form send to University.
  • For Students outside Kerala: The application fee shall be paid by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Comptroller, KAU, Vellanikkara payable at the SBT, KAU Campus Branch, Vellanikkara and the DD should be enclosed with the hard copy of application.

Required documents to send with Application Form

  • Remittance slip/Demand Draft for the application fee
  • Community Certificate and Income Certificate
  • No objection certificate (NOC) and experience certificate (in case of in-service candidates)
  • Self attested copies of certificates in proof of age, qualifications, mark list of qualifying examination, sports activities.
  • Self attested copy of Residential certificate (in the case of candidates from Kerala)

Note: All candidates applying for Ph.D. Programme shall submit a project proposal along with the application forms.


Selection Procedure

M.Sc (Agriculture) , M.Sc & ME/M.Tech

For the PG pogrammes except Ph.D., selections process will be based on performance in written test and interview. There will be an entrance exam of two hours duration for Master programme. The questions will be MCQ type. You will be considered for admission only if you secure a minimum of 40% marks (35% for SC/ST candidates) in the entrance examination.

You will be ranked on the basis of aggregate marks obtained by you as follows.

  • Entrance Exam: 50
  • Academic Merit: 40
  • Experience: 05
  • Sports/Arts/Publication: 05

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science , M.Phil/Ph.D in Agriculture & M.Phil/Ph.D in Engineering

For Ph.D. programme , selections process will be based on overall assessment of merit of the candidate by a Selection Committee constituted for the purpose as detailed below:

  • Interview: 20
  • Academic merit based on the marks obtained in Qualifying exam: 40
  • Teaching / research / extension-experience: 15
  • Published papers / meritorious teaching/research/extension work: 15
  • Project proposal: 10

You will be considered for admission only if you secure a minimum of 50% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates) in the entrance examination.


Reservation of Seats

25% of the seats shall be reserved for the eligible candidates sponsored by the ICAR based on All India Entrance Examination. One seat each for M Sc. (Ag.) Plant Biotechnology and M Sc. (Ag.) Plant Pathology will be reserved for the candidates from the Union Territory of Lakshadweep.
