Calicut University provides admission to deserving students through Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for the academic session 2018-19. This process has been acquired by university to grant admissions in UG programmes related to Arts, science & Technology courses. Under university scheme separate seat allocation has been performed for students belong to Kashmir, Lakshadweep. Students can apply online for various colleges & courses under CAP.  50% seats through CAP merit have been reserved to grant admission in Self Financing Colleges only.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech/B.Sc/BCA and Other UG Courses

Different courses offered by Calicut University has different eligibility norms as mentioned below.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Microbiology) , Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Biotechnology) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Aquaculture & Fishery Microbiology)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent with a minimum 45% of the total for the subjects – Biology, Physics & Chemistry are eligible for admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Applied Statistics)

Students who have passed 10+2 from Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination with Mathematics or Statistics.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Biochemistry)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent and have studied Chemistry& Biology at HSE level are eligible for admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Chemistry) , Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Physics) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Polymer Chemistry)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent with Science subjects.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Computer Science) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Mathematics)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent and have studied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or Computer Application at HSE level are eligible for admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Electronics)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent and have studied Electronics, Physics, Mathematics at HSE level are eligible for admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Environmental Science & water Management)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto and have studied two science subjects at HSE level are eligible for admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Family and Community Science) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Psychology)

Students who have passed the HSE from Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other equivalent examination are eligible.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Food Technology)

Students who have passed the HSE from Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination with Mathematics are eligible to apply.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Genetics)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent and have studied Physics, Chemistry & any branch of Life Science at HSE level are eligible for admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Geology)

Students who have studied Science subjects at plus two level are eligible for admissions to B. Sc programme in Geology, since Geology is taught as a subject at plus two level in both Science and Humanities stream, those students who have studied Geology at Plus two level are also eligible for admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Information Technology)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent with minimum of 50 % marks with Mathematics. Concession of 5% marks will be given to OBC/OEC candidates.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Botany) , Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Plant Science) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Zoology)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination with Biology as a compulsory paper or PDC with Second group are eligible for admission. 

B.Com

1. Students who have passed the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent examination with at least one commerce subject. Candidates, who have not taken at least one commerce subject for Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination, should score at least 45% (in 6 subjects) in that examination to become eligible.

2. Concession of 3 GPV will be given to OBC/OEC candidates. The SC/ST candidates need to pass only.

BCA

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent and have studied Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Application or Information Practices at HSE level are eligible for admission.

BMM

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with not less than 45% marks in aggregate shall be eligible for admission.

BE/B.Tech

Age Limit: 17 years as on December 31, 2018 (tentative) for B. Tech & 25 years for Lateral Entry

Educational Qualification:

  • Pass in Pre-Degree Examination from any of the Universities of Kerala State, or examinations recognized equivalent with 50% marks in Mathematics/Biology and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistryand Mathematics put together. Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary Examinations of Kerala have been recognized as equivalent to the Pre-Degree Examination.
  • In case of NRI students who are selected on the basis of marks in the qualifying examination, 50% marks in mathematics alone and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are required. For Diploma holders 60% marks in the final diploma Examination is required.
  • For all streams, students belonging to SEBC with a total annual family income up to Rs.4.5 lakhs will be provided with relaxation of 5% marks i.e. 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.
  • SC/ST students require only a pass in qualifying examination.
  • Students, who have passed their qualifying examination from outside the State of Kerala, shall produce a certificate of recognition and equivalency of qualification at the time of the time of admission.
  • Those who pass the qualifying examination in compartmental/supplementary examination are not eligible for admission in the same year.
  • For Lateral Entry, students shall have passed Diploma in Engineering awarded by the State Board of Technical Education or equivalent after undergoing an institutional course of at least 3 years and must have minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST) in Diploma.
  • Lateral Entry will be permitted only to the branch of Engineering in which they have obtained the Diploma or corresponding branches.
     

Note: All decisions regarding admission will be governed by the Commissioner for Entrance examinations, Govt. of Kerala.

BBA/BBM

Candidates who have passed the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent examination with not less than 50% are eligible for admission. Concession of 3 GPV will be given to OBC/OEC candidates. The SC/ST candidates need to pass only.

B.Ed

Students can check the relevant criteria for above mentioned disciplines with respect to Computer Science & Commerce group.

  • BA/B. Sc. Degree of the University of Calicut or a degree recognized as equivalent to 10+2+3 pattern with minimum of 50% marks.
  • Candidates not having 50% marks in Part III of the degree course can also apply provided they possess 50% marks in the Post Graduate Degree.
  • SC/ST candidates, natives of Lakshadweep and applicants under Teacher Quota need to pass in the Degree examination.
  • Relaxation of 5% marks for OEC and 3% for OBC candidates will be allowed from the minimum required marks i.e, OEC candidates need only 45% 
    and OBC candidates 47% of marks.

Computer Science:

  • Candidates should have passed MCA/MSc. Computer Science/MSc Electronics of the University of Calicut or a Degree recognized as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • SC/ST candidates, natives of Lakshadweep and applicants under teacher quota need a mere pass in the qualifying examination.
  • Relaxation of 5% marks for OEC and 3% for OBC candidates will be allowed from the minimum required marks i.e. OEC candidate’s need 45% and OBC candidates 47% of marks.
  • Candidates shall opt as optional subject for the B. Ed course only that main subject in which they have passed the B.A/ B. Sc. degree with the following exemptions.

a. Graduates in History/Geography/Economics/Political Science/Islamic History/Sociology/Philosophy/Psychology will be eligible for admission to B.Ed. Course with Social Science as optional subject.

b. Graduates in Statistics with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary subjects and candidates possessing B. Sc. applied statistics Degree will be eligible for admission to B. Ed. Course with Mathematics as optional subject.

c. Graduates in Home Science/Geology with Physics/Chemistry as subsidiary subjects will be eligible for admission to Physical Science and those with Botany/Zoology/Life Science as subsidiary subjects will be eligible for admission with Natural Science as optional Subject for the B.Ed. Course.

d. Candidates possessing B. Sc. Bio-Chemistry and B. Sc. Plant Science will be eligible for admission to Natural Science optional.

e. Candidates possessing B. Sc. Polymer Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry Degree will be considered for admission to Physical Science optional.

f. Candidates possessing B. Sc. Agricultural Degree with Bio-Chemistry and Zoology as subsidiaries will be eligible for admission to Natural Science optional.

g. Candidates possessing B. A. Functional English Degree will be eligible for B. Ed. admission in English optional.

  • Categories under IV should secure 50% marks in Part –III of their course.
  • SC/ST candidates, natives of Lakshadweep and applicants under Teacher Quota need only a pass in the degree examination.

Commerce:

  • Candidates should have passed M.Com Degree of the University of Calicut or a degree recognized as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • SC/ST candidates, natives of Lakshadweep and applicants under Teacher Quota need a mere pass in the qualifying examination.
  • Relaxation of 5% marks for OEC and 3% for OBC candidates will be allowed from the minimum required marks i.e. OEC candidate’s need 45% and OBC candidates 47% of marks.


How to Apply for B.Tech/B.Sc/BCA and Other UG Courses

BA , B.Sc & BHM

Students can choose up to 20 courses according to their interest & priority in from affiliated colleges of University of Calicut by following these simple steps for online application:

  • STAGE 1

Step1: Fee payment through payment Gateway:

Before fee payment you must have Date of Birth, a valid e=mail ID & mobile number. You have to navigate to the home page of the Calicut University; www.universityofcalicut.info. & click on Instant Web Payment System. Now click on Fee-remittance link on www.cuonline.ac.in. Now pay the fee INR 250 for General (INR 100 for SC/ST).

Way of fee payment for students belongs to Kerala:

Those students, who have State Bank of Travancore (SBT) online facility, can pay through this mode. They can also pay through SBT E-Challan.

Procedure:

  1. Select UGSW18 which is Centralized Admission Process Degree- 2018 Application Fee.
  2. Fill all details & select the mode of fee payment which is SBT online.
  3. Enter the fee amount & click on proceed. Now check all details & click on ‘Pay Now’.
  4. Click on redirect option to go to Calicut University Instant Web Payment System (CUIWPS) or wait for 60 seconds.
  5. Take the print out of fee receipt. CAP ID & password will be sent to you through SMS so that you will be able to complete the application proceedings.

They can also pay through SBT E-Challan, Friends Janasevana Kendrum or Akshaya Centres.

Procedure:

  1. Select UGSW15 which is Centralized Admission Process Degree- 2018 Application Fee.
  2. Fill all details & select the mode of fee payment which is SBT E- Challan.
  3. Enter the fee amount & click on proceed.
  4. Take the print out of challan & you can pay the fee in any nearest SBT branch after 3 hours of generation of challan.
  5. After payment you will receive the CAP ID & password within 24 hours.

Step 2: Photo upload requires these things; CAP ID, password, scan passport size photo in jpg. Format (30 to 40KB) & copy of SSC & BPL certificate if applicable. You have to login to www.cuonline.ac.in

Step 3: Register yourself by filling all personal details.

  • STAGE 2:

Stage 2 will be completed by the students only after declaration of result.

Step 1: Submission of marks obtained by you in the entrance test.

Step 2: After that students have to fill their choices related to courses & colleges.

Admission Process for B.Tech/B.Sc/BCA and Other UG Courses

BA , BMM & B.Sc

Admission to all courses will be through Common Entrance Test following by merit list. All seats available in University of Calicut have been filled strictly on merit basis whether it is for Government, Aided, Un-Aided (Self – Financing) colleges.

Procedure of indexing of Merit list:

Marks obtained in 10+2 will be considered for merit list preparation. Deciding factors of merit list:

  1. If a student has scored more marks in 10+2 then he/she can easily satisfied the criteria of minimum marks required. Extra marks scored by him will work as bonus points for him/her.
  2. 15 marks will have been added in the total marks in case of children & widows of Ex-serviceman & Jawans.
  3. 15 marks will be awarded to those students who have been working in Illiteracy Education Programmes on volunteer basis from at least one year.
  4. 15 marks will be awarded to NCC & NSS cadets on priority basis, for e.g. priority will be given to A,B,C certificate holders.
  5. 10 point bonus will be given to forst rank holder in Kerala state Higher secondary or Vocational Higher Secondary Art Festivals.

Note: 10 point will be deducted for every successive attempt to clear the qualifying exam up to maximum of 25 marks ( for those students who would not be able to pass 10+2 exam in first attempt).

Seat Allotment:

Seats will be allotted by following three allotment processes for Government & Aided colleges & two processes for Un-aided colleges with respect to availability of vacancies.

  • First Allotment:
  1. After trial allotment, seat matrix on the basis of rank & priority order will be published, & all options below the published ranks will be automatically get cancelled. Students whose seat will be confirmed after first allotment have to pay the fee of INR 425 for General (100 for SC/ST).
  2. If a student is satisfied with the allotted seat then he/she can cancelled the remaining options.
  3. Students whose seat has been confirmed, has to report to the respective college along with original & photocopies of the documents.
  • Print out of the application (Taken at the time of form filling)
  • E-Challan or online payment slip
  • Age certificate
  • Marks sheet of qualifying exam
  • Transfer & code of conduct certificate
  • Income/nativity/community certificate, if applicable
  1. Confirmation of admission will be performed by respective college after cross checking of documents & information provided at the time form filling by the student. Information regarding admission should be conveyed to University of Calicut by the college.
  • Bifurcation of seats which have not been considered under CAP:
  1. Seats under Community quota (For Aided colleges only)
  2. Seats under Management quota (Applicable for Aided/Unaided & unaided courses)
  3. Sports quota
  4. Lakshdweep quota/ students of Kashmir (for affiliated colleges)
  5. PWD & mentally retarded students

Note: Admission to the new colleges & new courses will be made through traditional manner for those students only who have registered themselves for CAP. Trial allotments will be conducted to provide the clear picture regarding the exact allotment process.

  • Seats available under CAP:
  1. Seats available in Government  colleges excluding the seats reserved for students belongs to Union Territory of Lakshadweep, Tamil Linguistic Minority, Sports quota, Person with Disability & Mentally retarded students from Kashmir.
  2. Seats available in Aided colleges for students belong to open quota, SC & ST.
  3. Total 59% Seats are available in Un-Aided & for aided courses in Self- Financing colleges including the seats reserved for SC/ST/SEBC.
  4. Total 59% Seats are available in IHRD self-financing colleges subject to reservation as per Government rules.

Note: To claim reservation under any category students must register for CAP through Calicut University.
