Shivaji University M.Phil & Ph.D Admission 2018

The research programmes provided by Shivaji University has different specialisations for candidates from different fields. For M.Phil and Ph.D. programmes, candidates are required to apply online to the University and send a research proposal describing their research interest. Selection for research programmes is made on the basis of entrance test followed by an interview. There is also a relaxation for those candidates who have qualified UGC-CSIR-NET / SLET / SET / GATE /P.G.D.T.E./ BET/GPAT exams. Such candidates are required only to appear for the interview. In interview candidates are required to discuss their research proposal with the panel constituted by the University. Entrance test will be based on the syllabus of post graduation courses except engineering students. For them syllabus of GATE will be considered in the exam. A final merit list will be prepared for selecting candidates for which 50% marks of qualifying exams, 40% marks scored in entrance test and 10% marks of entrance test will be considered.

Eligibility: Candidates are required to have done a Master’s degree in arts/commerce or M.Sc./B.Tech in relevant specialisation from any recognised University to be eligible for the M.Phil. Programme.

How To Apply

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts

Candidates are required to fill the application form on website Application form is available online only. Entrance examination fee for each subject is INR 200 which is to be submitted in form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Finance and Accounts Officer, Shivaji University, Kolhapur.

The application form along with the Demand Draft is to be submitted to the concerned department either by post/courier or by person.

Candidates can also avail the copy of course directory by paying a sum of INR 100 to the University in form of cash or Demand Draft drawn in favour of Finance and Accounts Officer, Shivaji University, Kolhapur.

NOTE: If course directory is demanded through post then a sum of INR 30 extra is to be paid by the candidates.

User facts:

  • If there are less than 10 candidates allotted to an examination centre then that centre is subjected to cancellation and information regarding this will be made available on the University website.
  • Applications are accepted after the last date of submission with a late fee of INR 100.
  • There is also a provision to accepted application form with super late fee of INR 500.

Required documents to be send to the university:

  • 12 copies of research proposals
  • Marks card of Post Graduation
  • Migration certificate
  • Copy of professional experience and published research work wherever necessary.


Admission Process

M.Phil. (Arts) & M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts

  • Selection to Ph.D. and M.Phil courses are made on the basis of entrance test followed by an interview.  Question paper will contain 50 MCQs of 2 marks each.  The duration of the exam will be of one and half hour.
  • Examination is conducted in both online and offline mode. The pattern for entrance test will be strictly based on the syllabus of post graduation programme.
  • On the basis of this entrance test a merit list will be prepared for conducting the interview. In interview, candidates are required to discuss about the area of research.
  • A final merit list will be prepared for selection on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying exam, entrance test and interview. 50% marks of qualifying exam, 40% marks of entrance test and 10% of interview will be considered to form a merit list for selecting candidates.

NOTE:

Those candidates who have qualified UGC-CSIR-NET / SLET / SET / GATE /P.G.D.T.E./ BET/GPAT are exempted from appearing in the entrance test and they only need to appear in the interview.

Those candidates who want to do research in engineering and technology, entrance test pattern for them will be based on GATE syllabus.

Scholarships:

  • Apart from the different schemes for scholarships provided by the government authorities, University has their own provision to provide scholarship to deserving candidates. 
  • University releases about 500 scholarships of INR 5000 and INR 10000 which is given to deserving candidates enrolled with the University under the scheme of Shivaji University Merit Scholarship Scheme (SUMS).
