Maulana Azad University Ph.D and M.Phil Admissions 2018

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is established in 1988. The University has seven schools of education which include 24 Departments. The University provides various undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs in 24 departments. Most of the Schools have already produced a considerable number of M. Phil. and Ph.D. scholars. The University offers admission to the following programs for the year 2017-18.

  • Doctor of philosophy(Ph.D.)
  • Master of philosophy (M.Phil.)

Only candidates with the relevant qualifying degree can register for the above mentioned programmes. Seats are reserved for people belonging to different categories such as SC/ST/BC etc. as well as special categories viz. Differently-abled, women etc.

Candidates can register for admission by filling-in the online application form and submitting the required processing fee, on or beforeMay 31, 2018. Admission to the above programmes is done on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the entrance examination.

Eligibility

Ph.D. (Social Work) , Ph.D. (English) & Ph.D. (Hindi)

  1. Doctor of philosophy(Ph.D.): English/ Hindi/Translation Studies/Arabic/ Persian/ Women Studies/ Public Administration/ Social Work/ Islamic Studies/Education/Management/ Mass Communication & Journalism/Computer Science/ Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy/ Mathematics /Zoology

Course duration: Min. 2 years –Max. 5 years

Eligibility:

  • Candidate should have hold of Master’s Degree in the concerned branch with a minimum of 55% marks/at least second class pass (50% for SC/ST/PD/VH) /equivalent grade from MANUU/any other recognized University.
  • Candidates who do not possess M.A./M.Phil. in Translation Studies should have a Post Graduate Degree in any subject and fulfil any one of the following conditions: 
  • Publication of at least 5 articles, translated from English to Urdu in reputed Urdu Journals and Magazines/ Minimum 3 years’ experience as an English-Urdu Translator in any Government or Semi-Government organization or in any reputed media organization/ Published at least one book of minimum 100 pages, translated from English to Urdu
  • Candidate must qualify the entrance test (written and interview) with minimum 50% to qualify for admission.
  • The candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR- JRF/NET, valid GATE score/SLET/M.Phil. awarded in concerned subject are not required to appear in the Written Test. However, they have to qualify the interview.

Course duration: 1 year

Eligibility:

Important note:

  • Candidates can appear in the written test even after qualifying UGC/CSIR- JRF/NET, valid GATE score/SLET/M.Phil. as per their choice/interest.
  • Candidate must have Urdu as one of the subject of study at least till 10th /12th class.


How To Apply

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts

Candidates must apply for admission through online registration process and submit completed application before May 31, 2018. All fields in the application form should be correctly and completely filled-in with the relevant information.

Candidate should log on to the university website and follow the given steps:

  1. In the “Admissions” section, click on “Online Application” Link
  2. Click on “Apply Now” button and fill in the application form
  3. Candidates should fill up all the required information correctly and ensure online submission of the form, by clicking the SUBMIT Button.
  4. After filling the basic information online, the candidate must pay the prescribed fee (printed on the challan which is generated online) at any branch of State Bank of India.
  5. The application number (User name) and password is generated while applying online. Candidate should preserve the same till the completion of the admission process.
  6. The candidate should attach the necessary scanned documents along with application form.
  7. The hall tickets for Eligible applicants will be made available for downloading from the University's Website only. The candidates will be informed about the acceptance or rejection of their application form and date of availability of hall tickets on website through sms, email and University website.

The candidate should attach following scanned copies along with the application form and bring original of the same at the time admission to confirm eligibility:

  1. Transfer Certificate   
  2.  Receipt t of fee paid through challan
  3. Community Certificate (For OC candidates community certificate not required)   
  4. Certificates for Special categories, if required     
  5. Nativity Certificate if required     
  6.  Graduate Certificate (marks statement of each year)
  7. Master’s Certificate(marks statement of each year)
  8. Photograph  of the applicant(a scanned digital image)
  9.  photograph  of a parent/guardian (a scanned digital image)
  10. scanned signature

Note:

  • Application fee for general category is Rs. 500/-
  • Application fee for SC/ST/PwD/Women Rs.300/-


Admission Process

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts

Admission Process: Admission to various Ph.D./M.Phil. Degree programmes shall be based on the qualification of the Entrance Test conducted by the University.

Candidates who have qualified in the examinations like CSIR-UGC /NETJRF/lectureship, SET/SLET examination of different Indian states, JRF examination of ICAR/ICMR/DBT/GATE, DST-Inspire fellowship, or regular M.Phil. Degree holders qualified through entrance test need not to appear in the entrance examination. Selection of such candidates shall be made on the basis of interview.
