Kerala University M.Tech. Admission 2017

Students looking for admission in higher degree courses in University of Kerala can apply for PG programmes in different streams. Information regarding the same has been issued and the last date for the application is June 15, 2017 (tentative).

University has separate rules & regulations for admission in certain PG courses like MSW & M. Ed. For professional courses students can directly download the application form & can apply at respective UIT centres Mode of the selection regarding certain courses will be the sole responsibility of the Kerala University, whether it would be performed on the basis of marks obtained in qualifying test or in separate entrance test.

Eligibility Criteria for Kerala University M.Tech/M.Sc & other PG Courses

Check different eligibility norms for different  PG programmes offered by University of Kerala.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Electronics and Communication Engineering) & Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Optoelectronics and Optical Communication)

  • Students must have obtained B. Tech/ B.E in related fields with 55% marks.
  • Candidates under sponsored seats must have a minimum experience of two years in relevant field and must be sponsored by the industry / training / research organizations.

Reservation:

5 seats for sponsored students and 3 seats for SC/ST students out of a total of 18 seats have been reserved.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

  • Students must have passed B. Tech / B.E in related fields
  • Or First Class Master’s degree in Computer Science / Computer Application from the University of Kerala or equivalent recognized degree of a recognized University.

Master of Technology [M.Tech] (Technology Management)

  • B. Tech Degree or equivalent in any branch of Engineering / Technology with at least 55% marks from any of the recognized Universities in India.
  • Admissions to non-sponsored seats will be made on the basis of valid GATE score.
  • Admissions to sponsored seats will be governed by the following AICTE guidelines. The candidates should have:-
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Technology with at least 55% marks from AICTE approved institutions. Preference will be given to candidates who have qualified GATE.
  2.  A minimum two-years of full time work experience in a registered firm / company / industry / educational and research institution / any Government Department or Government Autonomous Organization in the relevant field.
  3. Less than 45 years of age as on 1st day of the year of admission.

Master of Social Work [MSW]

Students must have passed Bachelor’s Degree with 45% marks from this university or from a University with equivalent standard.

User Note:

Usual relaxation from the minimum marks for SC/ST and OEC candidates, as may be prescribed by the University from time to time, shall be applicable to this course also.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Computer Science)

  • Students must have passed B. Sc. With not less than 60% marks.
  • Those students are also eligible who have undergone B. Sc. Electronics or BCA or any other Science degree with Mathematics/ Computer Science/ Computer Applications/ Computer Maintenance as one of the subject.

M.Ed

Students must have passed B. Ed. Degree with 55% marks in aggregate.

How to Apply for Kerala University M.Tech/M.Sc & other PG Courses

Aspiring students can check the separate application process for different PG programmes offered by the University of Kerala.

ME/M.Tech

  • Candidates seeking admission to the course have to download the application form from www.keralauniversity.ac.in
  • Students need to fill the application form & required to send it with Demand Draft of INR 500 drawn in favour of ‘University of Kerala’ payable at Thiruvananthapuram to:

The Professor & Head,

Documents required to be send along with the application form:

  1. Pay in slip of INR 500 or Demand Draft of INR 500 drawn in favour of “The Finance officer, Kerala University” payable at Thiruvananthapuram, issued by SBT/SBI or District Cooperative Bank. Name of the student should be written on the back side of the DD.
  2. Marks sheet of qualifying exams (attested copies)
  3. Copy of GATE score card
  4. Attested copy of Community certificate (for SC/ST students)
  5. BPL/Experience/Sponsorship certificates
  6. Attested copy of Disability certificate

Master of Social Work [MSW] & Master of Science [M.Sc] (Computer Science)

  • Students can obtain the application form & prospectus from all centres of UIT by paying INR 200 in cash.
  • Students can also obtain the application form through post by sending a request letter (self-addressed stamp of INR 22 along with cost of application fee) to the respective centre.
  • Application form can also be obtain from the UIT centre by paying the fee of INR 210 drawn in favour of “The Finance Officer, Kerala University” issued by SBI/SBT/DCB payable at Main branch of SBI, Thiruvananthapuram.
  • Duly filled application form along with all relevant documents should reach to the respective office of the principal of UIT centres.


Admission Process for Kerala University M.Tech/M.Sc & other PG Courses

Aspiring students can check the separate admission process for different PG programmes offered by the University of Kerala.

ME/M.Tech

Students will be selected on the basis of valid GATE 2017 score or entrance exam conducted by University.

User Fact:

  • When GATE qualified candidates are not available, admission will be given to Non-GATE candidates on merit. Such admissions will be based on an entrance test conducted by the University of Kerala. Ranking will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and the entrance test in the 40: 60.

In case of sponsored candidates ranking will be done on the following basis:

  • Qualifying exams:  40% weightage will be given to the marks secured in the qualifying exam by the candidate.
  • Entrance exam:  50% weightage to marks secured in the Entrance Exams
  • Experience: 10% weightage will be given to the work experience of the candidate.

Master of Social Work [MSW] & Master of Science [M.Sc] (Computer Science)

Although the selection process is completely merit based but in case of entrance test , the division of marks is as follows.

  1. A weightage of 40 % for the marks scored in the qualifying examination.
  2. A weightage of 30% for the marks obtained in the entrance test conducted by the university for this purpose.
  3. A weightage of 15 % for the performance of the candidate in group discussion and, a weightage of 15% for the performance of the candidate in interview.
