YSR Horticulture University M.Sc And Ph.D. Admissions 2017

Dr. YSR Horticulture University was established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2007 at Venkataramannagudem in West Godavari District. It is the second Horticulture University in the country. The University runs on the Land Grant pattern followed in USA, with the emphasis on Education, Research and Extension of Horticulture. Therefore, the mandate of the University is Human Resource Development through Education, conduct need based research and dissemination of the proven technologies developed through research.

The University invites applications for admission to the Master of Science Programme in Horticulture with a total of 26 seats, and the Doctor of Philosophy Programme in Horticulture with 6 seats, in various specializations for the academic year 2016-17.

The admissions will begin on June 22nd, 2016 and applications must be submitted by July 22nd, 2017. The admission will be based on an Entrance Test followed by an Interview to be held on August 4th, 2017 for M.Sc. Programme and August 5th, 2017 for Ph.D. Programme.

The University offers the following specializations under the M.Sc. Programme:

  • Fruit Science
  • Vegetable Science
  • Floriculture and Landscape Architecture
  • Spices, Plantations, Medicinal and Aromatic Crops

Eligibility Criteria:

You must have passed the relevant Bachelor’s Degree i.e., B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture with an OGPA of a minimum of 5.5 out of a score of 10 from ICAR Accredited University.

Ph.D. (Horticulture)

Ph.D. Programme

The University offers the following specializations under the Ph.D. Programme:

  • Fruit Science
  • Vegetable Science
  • Floriculture and Landscape Architecture
  • Spices, Plantations, Medicinal and Aromatic Crops.

Eligibility Criteria:

You must have passed the relevant Master’s Degree i.e., M.Sc. Horticulture with an OGPA of a minimum of 6.5 out of a score of 10 from ICAR Accredited University.

Age: You should not be more than 40 years of age as on July 1st, 2017.

You should download the Form and take a print out of the same.

You must fill the form with the required personal and educational details in your own handwriting only. You must also affix a recent passport size photograph in the space provided.

Application Fee: You should pay the following Application Fee through a Demand Draft in favour of “Comptroller, Dr. YSRHU” payable at Tadepalligudem, from any nationalised bank:

You must also attach along two self-addressed envelopes with your pin code affixing postage stamps of Rs.05/- on each.

You should then send the duly filled in together with Demand Draft and all the prescribed certificates to the following address on or before July 20th 2017:

Admission Process

M.Sc

You will be selected on the basis of an Entrance Test conducted by the University, followed by an Interview if you qualify the Entrance Test. The entrance test will be objective type, covering all relevant subjects prescribed for the concerned Bachelor’s degree requirements of this University. You should be able to secure a minimum of 50% marks in the Entrance Test to qualify for the interview/counselling which will be relaxed in case of SC/ST category, to the extent of reservation of seats.

The Selection shall be based on the following weightage:

  •  Academic performance in B.Sc. – 30%
  •  Academic performance in Intermediate (10+2) – 10%
  • Academic performance in S.S.C – 50%
  • Performance in Entrance test – 50%

Ph.D. (Horticulture)

You will be selected on the basis of an Entrance Test conducted by the University, followed by an Interview if you qualify the Entrance Test. The entrance test will be objective type, covering all relevant subjects prescribed for the concerned Master degree requirements of this University. You should be able to secure a minimum of 50% marks in the Entrance Test to qualify for the interview/counselling which will be relaxed in case of SC/ST category, to the extent of reservation of seats.

The Selection shall be based on the following weightage:

  • Academic record of M.Sc. (Hort.) - 30%
  • Academic record of B.Sc. (Hort.) - 10%
  • Performance in Entrance Test - 50%
  • Interview – 10%
