MGU Kerala MA, M.Sc, M.Ed, LL.M Admissions 2018 through CAT MGU

Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala popularly known as MGU, is a UGC approved university which has grown to be amongst the top universities in India. It offers 300 academic programmes for undergraduate and postgraduate level all over India. The university offers the following PG courses to its students through CAT-MGU entrance exam:

  • Master of Arts (M.A.)
  • Master of Science (M.Sc)
  • Master of Education (M.Ed)
  • Master of Law (LL.M)

Students who satisfy eligibility criteria can register for admission to the concerned PG programme by filling the application form and submitting the required fee through online payment modes. Admission in these programmes will be done on the basis of their performance in the university entrance examination (CAT-MGU), after which they will be called for counselling.

Eligibility Criteria

LLM

Eligibility: Candidate must possess L.L.B. degree with not less than 50% marks (or CGPA of 2) in the aggregate

M.Ed

Eligibility: Candidate must possess B.Ed. degree in concerned specialization with 55% or CGPA of 2.2

MA

The university offers MA in the following disciplines:

  • M.A. Gandhian Studies
  • M.A. Development Studies

Eligibility: Candidate must possess Bachelors Degree in any subject with a minimum of 45% marks.

  • M.A. Politics & International Relations
  • M.A. Politics and Human Rights
  • M.A. Politics (Public Policy & Governance)

Eligibility: Candidate must be a Graduate in Economics/ Politics/ History/ Law with not less than 45% marks for Part III Or Bachelor’s Degree in English/ Sociology/Anthropology/ Psychology/ Geography/ Philosophy/Commerce with not less than 50% marks or Graduates in Science with not less than 60% marks for Part III

  • M.A. Malayalam

Eligibility: Candidate should be a Graduate in the subject concerned with a minimum of 45% marks in Part III or Graduate in Arts/Science with a minimum of 50% marks in Part II Malayalam

  • M.A. English

Eligibility: Candidate should be Graduate in the subject concerned with a minimum of 45% marks in Part III or Graduate in Arts/Science with a minimum of 50% marks in Part I English

  • M.A. History
  • M.A. Anthropology

Eligibility: Candidate should be a Graduate under the faculty of Social Sciences with not less than 45% marks for Part III

  • M.A. Economics

Eligibility: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics/ Mathematics/ Statistics under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks (or CGPA of 1.8) in core and Complementary subjects or equivalent degree from an institution approved by Mahatma Gandhi University

M.Sc

The university offers M.Sc in the following disciplines:

  • M.Sc. Disability Studies and Rehabilitation Sciences

Eligibility: Candidate must have a degree in Arts with not less than 45% marks or any Science Degree with a minimum of 50% marks

  • M.Sc. Psychology

Eligibility: Candidate must possess BA/B.Sc. in Psychology degree with minimum 50% marks

  • M.Sc. Biochemistry
  • M.Sc. Biotechnology
  • M.Sc. Microbiology
  • M.Sc. Biophysics

Eligibility: Candidate must have a B.Sc. Degree in Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry or Physics with not less than 50% Marks in Part III of the respective subject

  • M.Sc. Computer Science

Eligibility: Candidate must have a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science/ Computer Application/B.Sc. IT/B.Tech Computer Science/BCA or any other B.Sc. Degree with Computer Science as one of the Main Subjects with not less than 50% marks in optional subjects (Main & Subsidiaries.)

  • M.Sc. Environment Science and Management

Eligibility: Candidate must have a B.Sc. Degree in any of the Optional subjects (Botany/ Zoology/Chemistry/ Physics/ Geology/ Geography/Life Science/ Environment Science/ Environment Management/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Plant or Animal Science/ Agriculture/ Fisheries/ Aquaculture/ Horticulture/ Forestry/ B.Tech. in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental or equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in Part III

  • M.Sc. Environment Science and Disaster Management

Eligibility: Candidate must have a B.Sc. Degree in any subject with not less than 50% marks in Part III

  • M.Sc. Chemistry (Inorganic Chemistry)
  • M.Sc. Chemistry (Organic Chemistry)
  • M.Sc. Chemistry (Physical Chemistry)
  • M.Sc. Chemistry (Polymer Science)

Eligibility: Candidate must possess B.Sc. Degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 50% marks in Part III (Mathematics and Physics as subsidiaries)

  • M.Sc. Physics with Specialization from Astrophysics, Theoretical Physics, Material Science, Applied Electronics

Eligibility: Candidate should be a B.Sc. Degree in Physics with Mathematics as subsidiary with not less than 50% marks in Part III.


How to Apply

MA , M.Ed & M.Sc

  • Candidates can log on to official university website and click on the CAT-MGU 2018 link or one can directly log on to www.cat.mgu.ac.in. Upon registration, candidate will be alloted a username and password for their account which they should use to fill the concerned application form
  • Candidates should fill the application form with all the relevant details as prescribed by the university. After selecting the programmes, the candidates should pay the registration fee only through online payment mode. THERE IS NO OFFLINE METHOD FOR PAYMENT OF REGISTRATION FEE.
  • The details of the registration fee is as follows:
  1. For General Candidates - INR 500 per programme/cluster of programmes.
  2. For SC/ST candidates from Kerala – INR 250 per programme/ cluster of programmes.


Admission Process

MA , M.Ed & M.Sc

Candidates will be shortlisted for admission to M.Ed., LL.M and selected disciplines of M.Sc and MA on the basis of marks scored in the CAT-MGU entrance examination, conducted by the university itself.


Reservation Criteria

There are three types of reservation applicable in the CAT MGU examination. These three types of reservation are:

  • Reservation for Persons with Disabilities

Candidates in the following three categories will be treated as Physically Handicapped category:

  1. Blind
  2. Deaf
  3. Orthopedically challenged

Candidates with 40% or more of any disability as certified by a Medical board constituted for this purpose will be considered for reservation in this category. For such candidates there is a 3% seat reservation for all the programs.

  • Special Reservation

Candidates falling under the following categories will be considered under the special reservation category
