The Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) is a public Agricultural university in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh. It is the largest in India with an infrastructure of nine colleges, 58 research stations distributed in seven agro-climatic zones of the state, eight agricultural polytechnics, one horticultural polytechnic, one multipurpose polytechnic, 22 District Agricultural Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centres, 12 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (Farmer Science Centre), one Agricultural Technology and Information Centre and Electronic Media Wing apart from one Extension Education Institute and Agricultural Information and Communication Centre.

The University offers various postgraduate programmes including Master of Science (M.Sc.) Programme, Master of Technology (M.Tech.) Programme and Master of Business Administration (MBA) Programme. However, the M.Sc. Home Science Programme is only for women.

ANGRAU invites applications for admission to the postgraduate programmes for the academic year 2017-18. The admission process will begin on May 27th, 2017 with the availability of Application Form online which must be submitted by June 21st, 2017. The admission for the M.Tech. , and all M.Sc. Programmes will be based on an Entrance Test to be conducted on July 3rd, 2017. The admission for MBA Programme will be based on an Entrance Test to be conducted on July 4th, 2017 followed by a Group Discussion and Interview on July 5th, 2017.

Eligibility Criteria

For all courses:-

You should have passed the following Bachelor’s degree course with a minimum OGPA of 5.50 out of 10.00 (for SC/ ST- 5.00 out of 10.00); or 2.50 out of 4.00 (for SC / ST-2.00 out of 4.00) or 50% marks in traditional system (40% for SC/ST):

For Agriculture: B.Sc. (Agriculture) / B.Sc. (CA&BM).

For Molecular Biology: B.Sc. (Agriculture) / B.Sc. (CA&BM) / Horticulture / Sericulture / Forestry

For Environmental Science: B.Tech. (Agriculture Engineering) / B.V.Sc. / or B.Sc. (Home Science) or B.Tech. Environmental Science & Technology / Environmental Studies or B.Sc. (Agriculture) / Horticulture / Sericulture / Forestry /B.Sc. CA&BM or B.F.Sc. of 4 years duration

For Home Science: B.Sc. (Home Science) / B.H.Sc. (Rural) / B.Sc. (Home Science) / B.H.Sc. / B.Sc. (Hons.) Home Science of 4 years duration

Age: You should not be more than 40 years as on 1st July, 2017.

Note: The M.Sc. (Home Science) Programme is for women only.

You should have passed the following Bachelor’s degree course with a minimum OGPA of 5.50 out of 10.00 (for SC/ ST- 5.00 out of 10.00); or 2.50 out of 4.00 (for SC / ST-2.00 out of 4.00) or 50% marks in traditional system (40% for SC/ST) in B. Tech (Agriculture Engineering) of 4 years duration or B. Tech. Food Technology Graduates of 4 years.

Age: You should not be more than 40 years as on 1st July, 2017.

MBA/PGDM

You should have passed the following Bachelor’s degree course with a minimum OGPA of 5.50 out of 10.00 (for SC/ ST- 5.00 out of 10.00); or 2.50 out of 4.00 (for SC / ST-2.00 out of 4.00) or 50% marks in traditional system (40% for SC/ST): B.Sc. (Ag. ) / Hort. / B.Tech. (Agriculture Engineering) or B.V.Sc. & AH / B.F.Sc. / B.H.Sc. / B.H.Sc. (Rural) B.Sc. (H. Sc.) / B.Tech (Dairying) / B.Tech (Food Technology) / B.Sc. (Food Science & Technology) / B.Sc. (CA&BM) of 4 years duration.

Age: You should not be more than 40 years as on 1st July, 2016.


How To Apply

M.Sc , ME/M.Tech & MBA/PGDM

You can download the Application Form from the website of the University.

You should take a print out of the Application Form and fill it with the required personal and educational details in your own handwriting.

You must select the course you are applying for and strike off the courses which are not applicable.

You should affix a recent coloured passport size photograph in the space provided.

Application Fee: You should pay the registration fee in the form of Demand Draft for Rs.800 for General and Rs. 400 for SC, ST and PH. The Demand Draft should be from SBH / SBI / ANDHRA BANK and drawn in favour of Comptroller, Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, payable at Hyderabad.

Enclosures: You should attach the following along with the application form:

  • Two self-addressed (with PIN code) envelops affixing postage stamps of Rs.5 on each.
  • Memorandum of marks (all years) obtained at the qualifying (B.Sc. level) examination or transcript
  • Provisional/degree certificate of the qualifying examination
  • Study Certificates / Residence Certificate
  • Caste Certificate
  • Date of Birth certificate

Admission Process

M.Sc & ME/M.Tech

For M.Sc. (Agriculture) / M.Sc. (Home Science) / M.Tech (Ag. Engineering):

Your selection shall be based on the previous academic record at Under Graduate level and performance in Entrance Test and the weightage would be in the ratio of 30:70.

The Entrance Test shall be comprehensive one, covering all relevant subjects prescribed for the concerned Bachelor degree requirements of this University. It shall be of 2 hours duration with objective type questions in English and answers must be written in English. The qualifying marks in Entrance Test shall be 50% marks which will be relaxed for SC/ST category to the extent of seats reserved for them.

There will be extra weightage as indicated below given subject to a maximum of 5 marks if you produce certificates for achievements in NCC / NSS / Sports / Games / Cultural / Literary activities at B.Sc. level:

  • International level - 3 marks
  • Inter State Level - 2 marks
  • Inter University Level - 1 mark

MBA/PGDM

For M.B.A Agri-Business Management:-

Your selection shall be based on the performance in a Written Test, group discussion & interview.

The written test is designed to evaluate Quantitative Aptitude, Numerical Ability and Test of Reasoning, General English / Language Skills, General Knowledge and Current Affairs.

It shall be of 2 hours duration with objective type questions in English and answers must be written in English. The qualifying marks in Entrance Test shall be 50% marks which will be relaxed for SC/ST category to the extent of seats reserved for them.

  • Overall, 40% of the seats in B.Sc. (Ag.), B.Tech (Ag.), B.Sc. (CA&BM) and B.Tech. (Food Science & Technology) courses are reserved for candidates coming from families of Agriculturists actually engaged in and owning not less than 3 acres of land and who have studied for a minimum of 4 years in schools located in Non-Municipal areas.
  • In M.B.A. (Agribusiness Management) course 10% (5 Seats) are reserved for NRIs / Industry Sponsored Candidates. 5% of the seats shall be provided to NRIs / and 5% to Industry sponsored candidates.
