Northl Bengal University is a UGC Recognized, AICTE Approved public university which was established in 1962. The university has 23 departments imparting professional / non-professional education, research and training to many students every year.

The university offers Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in the following disciplines:

Only candidates with the relevant qualification can register for the above mentioned programmes. Admission to the above programmes will be done directly on the basis of the merit of the candidates in the Entrance Examination conducted by the university followed by GD & PI.

Candidates can register for admission by filling-in and submitting the prescribed application form along with the required processing fee, on or before the last date.

Eligibility

M.Phil. (Remote Sensing and GIS Applications)

Course Duration: 1 year

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must have passed Master degree in relevant subject/stream (Arts, Commerce, Law, Science, Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy or any other discipline) from the University of North Bengal / any other University recognized institution with at least 55% marks [50% marks for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD].
  • For Himalayan Studies, candidates having Master Degree in Strategic & Area Studies/ History/Geography/Economics/Political Science/Sociology/Anthropology with at least 55% marks [50% marks for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD] are eligible to apply
  • Foreign candidates are eligible for admission only if they have obtained a research visa.


How To Apply

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science

  • Candidates can apply for admission by filling-in and submitting completed applications along with the supporting documents. Application forms may be collected from the office of the university upon payment of Rs. 150/- (Rs. 50/- in case of SC/ST candidates) at the university cash counter
  • Candidates can also download the application form available at the official university website.  All fields in the application form should be correctly and completely filled-in with the relevant information.
  • In case of downloaded application forms, candidate must enclose supporting documents and DD of Rs.100/- drawn in favour of "University of North Bengal", payable at SBI, NBU Campus Branch (Code 2096)
  • Duly filled-in applications, along with supporting documents (and DD in case of downloaded application) must reach the following address:

The candidate must send the photo affixed and duly signed application and the following copies of following documents.

  1. Transfer Certificate   
  2. Admit Card and Mark Sheet of 10th
  3. Qualifying degree examination
  4. HSC/CBSE/other equivalent mark sheet
  5. Community Certificate (For OC candidates community certificate not required)   
  6. Certificates for Special categories, if required     
  7. Nativity Certificate if required    
  8.  Date of Birth Certificate (SSC / ICSE / CBSE).
  9. Medical certificate
  10. Other relevant certificates.


Admission Process

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science

Candidate are selected on the basis of entrance examination conducted by the university followed by group discussion and personal interview.

Hostel facility:

The university provides separate hostel facility for boys and girls.There are 4 hostel blocks for boys and 5 for girls.
