CUSAT B.Tech Lateral Entry Admission 2017

Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) offers admission to third semester of B.Tech. programmes through lateral entry scheme. Generally for all courses, the application starts from January month of every year. This year, the application for admission to B.Tech(Lateral Entry) programme has been started from January 22, 2017 (tentative) and it will be closed on February 15, 2017 (tentative).

Applicants for B.Tech Lateral Entry programmes will be required to appear for the Lateral Entry Test (LET) conducted by university and LET exam will be held on May 01, 2017 (tentative).

In CUSAT, all programmes of CUSAT except the 3 years evening LLB programme are approved for fee concessions for SC/ST candidates and other Eligible Communities. 50% tuition fee concession will be granted for PWD candidates. Hostel accommodation for around 700 female and 600 male students is available for all UG, PG and Research students. Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech(Lateral Entry) Programmes

BE/B.Tech

You must have any three year Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by the Board of Technical Education recognised by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks, will be considered for admission to the B.Tech. programme through Lateral Entry Scheme.

The maximum age prescribed is 25 years as on 1st July of the year of admission.

The Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Cast (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination expect marine engineering.

How to apply for B.Tech(Lateral Entry) in CUSAT?

BE/B.Tech

You can apply for B.Tech lateral entry programme only online mode. The registration window has been opened from January 20, 2017 (tentative). Visit CUSAT website for online application. Last date for application to B.Tech(Lateral Entry) programme is February 15, 2017 (tentative). Admissions to all programs except Marine Engineering are based on the CUSAT CAT Rank.

Application Fee:

  • INR 1000/- For General & OBC Candidates
  • INR 500/- For SC/ST Candidates
  • INR 6000/- For NRI Candidates

Note: An additional  fee of Rs. 10,000/- is payable by  candidates opting Dubai as Test Centre. 

How to apply?

You can submit online application form after January 20, 2017 (tentative). Visit official website of CUSAT. You can not change any detail after submission of application form. Last date for application form submission is February 15, 2017 (tentative).

Submit Application Form: The online application submission is a two-stage process.

  • Stage 1: In this stage, you should fill basic personal details such as Name, DOB, email id, mobile number etc. After submitting details, user Id and password will be sent by mail and SMS.
  • Stage 2: In this stage, you should login with the help of user id and password. Now fill all other details required in the online registration form and upload your recent passport size colour photograph and signature.

Required dimensions and size of photo & signature

For Photo: 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm with the file size between 4 KB and 100 KB

For Signature: 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm with file size between 1 KB and 30 KB

Make Payment: You can make payment through SBI/SBT Internet Banking or through Challan. You should check your application status after two working days from the date of payment of fee. Last date for fee submission is February 22, 2017 (tentative).

Note: You can not change any detail after submission of application form.

Selection Procedure for B.Tech(Lateral Entry) programme

Admissions to B.Tech Lateral Entry will be based on the rank in the CUSAT CAT admission test.

Special Reservation:

Physically Challenged: 3% seats are  reserved for physically  challenged  candidates with at least 40% disability for all  B.Tech courses, except B.Tech Marine Engineering,  Mechanical  Engineering,  Naval  Architecture & Ship  Building,  Instrumentation, Polymer Science  & Engineering and Safety & Fire Engineering. One seat  each for all other academic programmes except  M.Sc. (Industrial Fisheries)  is reserved for physically  challenged candidates.

Blind: Reservation for Blind candidates is applicable only for MA (Hindi) and LLM programmes.

Note: Candidates belonging to states other than Kerala are not eligible for communal reservation.
