Karnataka State Women's University (KSWU) UG & PG Admissions 2017

Karnataka State Women’s University (KSWU) also known as KSWU was established in 2003 and it the first university exclusively for women in Karnataka recognized under the UGC Act. The University provides postgraduate (PG) and M.Phil./ Ph.D. courses in various disciplines of arts, commerce, science, technology, education etc.

The university offers the following under graduate (UG), post graduate (PG) courses in various disciplines:

Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria can register themselves by obtaining the concerned application form and submitting it upon completion along with the prescribed fee.General candidates must deposit an application fees of Rs. 480/- whereas for SC/ST candidates, the fee is Rs. 240/- to register for admission to M.Phil. programme.

Candidates will be selected for admission to the above mentioned programmes on the basis of their performance in the qualifying examination. In case of MBA and MCA, admission is done through entrance test conducted byKarnataka examination authority.

Eligibility Criteria

The following section contains information regarding eligibility criteria for different courses offered by KSWU.

B.Ed

Candidate must possess bachelor’s degree in Arts or Science of this university or any other university recognized by UGC with at least 50% aggregate for General and OBC and 45% for SC/ST candidates.

B.P.Ed

Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

MA

Master of Arts (MA) is offered in the following disciplines:

Music and Dance – (40 seats):

Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% aggregate marks.

Urdu – (40 seats):

  • Candidate must possess BA degree with Urdu as optional subject with 50% marks in the subject and aggregate from recognized university (45% for OBCs and 40% for SC/ST).
  • Candidate must possess bachelor’s degree with Urdu as basic in 2 year programme and must have secured at least 50% marks for General, 45% for OBC and 40% for SC/ST candidates.

Hindi – (40 seats):

  • Candidate must possess BA degree with Hindi as optional subject with 50% marks in the subject and aggregate from recognized university (45% for OBCs and 40% for SC/ST).
  • Candidate must possess bachelor’s degree with Hindi as basic in 2 year programme and secure at least 50% marks for General, 45% for OBC and 40% for SC/ST candidates.

English – (40 seats):

  • Candidate must possess BA degree with English as optional subject with 50% marks in the subject and aggregate from recognized university (45% for OBCs and 40% for SC/ST).
  • Candidate must possess bachelor’s degree with English as basic in 2 year programme and secure at least 50% marks for GM, 45% for OBC and 40% for SC/ST candidates.

Kannada – (40 seats):

  • Candidate must possess BA degree with Kannada/ folk literature as optional subject with 50% marks in the subject and aggregate from recognized university (45% for OBCs and 40% for SC/ST).
  • Candidate must possess bachelor’s degree with Kannada/ folk literature as basic in 2 year programme and secure at least 50% marks for General, 45% for OBC and 40% for SC/ST candidates.

History – (40 seats):

  • Candidate must possess BA degree with History as optional subject with 50% marks in the subject and aggregate from recognized university (45% for OBCs and 40% for SC/ST).
  • Candidate must possess bachelor’s degree with History as basic in 2 year programme and secure at least 50% marks for General, 45% for OBC and 40% for SC/ST candidates.

Journalism and Mass Communication – (40 seats):

Candidate must possess bachelor’s degree with 50% aggregate marks required but in case of SC/ST and OBC, 40% and 45% marks respectively from a recognized university.

Lib. & I. Sc – (40 seats):

Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% aggregate marks.

Sociology – (40 seats):

  • Candidate must possess BA degree with Sociology as one of the optional subject with minimum 50% aggregate marks.
  • Minimum percentage required for SC/ST and OBC candidates are 40% and 45% respectively.

Social Work – (45 seats):

Candidate must possess bachelor’s degree with 50% aggregate marks required but in case of SC/ST and OBC 40% and 45% marks respectively from a recognized university.

Women Studies – (40 seats):

Candidate must possess bachelor’s degree with 50% aggregate marks required but in case of SC/ST and OBC 40% and 45% marks respectively from a recognized university.

Political Science – (40 seats):

  • Candidate must possess BA degree with Political science as one of the optional subject with 50% aggregate marks and 50% marks in optional subject separately.
  • Minimum percentage required for SC/ST and OBC is 40% and 45% respectively

M.Sc

Master of Sciences (M.Sc.) is offered in the following disciplines:

Bioinformatics – (29 seats):

Candidate must possess Bachelor’s degree in Life science (including Agriculture, Pharmacy and Fishery), Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Bio-chemistry, Biology, BCA, Microbiology, BE/B. Tech. Biotechnology with 50% aggregate marks required. In case of SC/ST and OBC 40% and 45% marks respectively are required from any recognized university.

Biotechnology – (29 seats):

Candidate must possess bachelor’s degree in Biology/Life Sciences with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, minimum marks required are 40% and 45% respectively.

Botany – (20+9 seats):

Candidate must possess B.Sc. degree examination with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, minimum marks required are 40% and 45% with Botany as one of the subject.

Chemistry – (30 seats):

Candidate must possess B.Sc. degree examination with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, minimum marks required are 40% and 45% with Chemistry as one of the subject.

Computer Science – (35 seats):

Candidate must possess any degree with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, 40% and 45% marks respectively are required.

Electronics – (20+10 seats):

Candidate must possess B.Sc. degree with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, minimum marks required are 40% and 45% respectively from a recognized university with Physics, Mathematics and Electronics or Electronics, Mathematics and Computer Science or Physics and Mathematics as optional subjects.

Pharmaceutical Chemistry – (20+10 seats):

Candidate must possess a degree with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, minimum marks required are 40% and 45% respectively from a recognized university with B.Sc. Chemistry as one of the optional subject or B.Pharm.  with Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Physics – (30 seats):

Candidate must possess a B.Sc. degree with Physics as an optional subject and 50% aggregate marks.

Zoology – (30 seats):

Candidate must possess a B.Sc. degree examination with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, minimum percentage required is 40% and 45% respectively with Zoology as one of the optional subject

Statistics – (30 seats):

Candidate must possess Bachelor’s degree in Science with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, minimum percentage required is 40% and 45% respectively with Statistics as one of the optional subject.

Mathematics – (40 seats):

Candidate must possess Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with 50% aggregate marks.

MBA/PGDM

Candidate must possess a graduate degree in any discipline with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, 40% and 45% marks respectively are required.

M.Com

Candidates must possess a degree in B.Com/BBM/BBA/BCS with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, 40% and 45% marks respectively are required.

MCA

Candidate must possess a degree in any discipline with 50% aggregate marks. In case of SC/ST and OBC, 40% and 45% marks respectively are required.

M.Ed

Candidates must possess B.Ed. degree with 55% aggregate marks but in case of SC/ST, 50% marks are required.

M.P.Ed

Candidates must possess a B.P.Ed. Degree with 50% aggregate marks.

PG Diploma in Computer Applications & PG Diploma in Arts

Performing Arts – (25 seats):

Candidates must have passed Music (Hindustani Vocal).

Kannada – (10 seats):

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

Women Studies – (10 seats):

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

Ideal Womanhood – (20 seats):

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

Computer Science – (20 seats):

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

Yoga Studies – (25 seats):

Candidates must possess a degree in any discipline with 45% marks.

  • Candidates can obtain prospectus and application form online, from the official university website
  • Candidates can obtain application form through post by sending the prescribed fee in the form of demand draft (DD) along with additional postal charges of Rs. 60/- to the following address:

Admission Process

M.Sc , MCA & MBA/PGDM

  • Selection of the candidate will be based on their meritin the qualifying examination
  • For MBA and MCA admission, students will be shortlisted on the basis of the entrance test conducted by Karnataka examination authority.
