Rabindra Bharti University  invites applicants for admission in their BA/BFA/B.L.I.Sc & B.Ed. undergraduate courses through common entrance test. Under the RBU panel, the University has divided it’s faculty into 3 departments: Faculty ofArts, Faculty of Fine Arts & Faculty of Visual Arts. Under these faculties different courses are arranged in a way best suited for the advancement and progress of the University’s teaching methodologies and the students.

As per the guidelines issued by the Govt. of West Bengal, reservation of seats is reserved for SC/ST/OBC categories; additionally separate seat reservation is allocated to Foreign/NRI students. RBU provides time to time scholarships to its meritorious students.

Eligibility:

Candidates must have cleared the H.S. examination with a minimum score of 55% (relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/OBC) in the concerned subject in which they wish to pursue the course.

For applying in economics department, students must have Mathematics as their subject at H.S. level with a minimum score of 30% (with economics) and at least 50% (without economics) in the same. 

Eligibility For Special Honors:

Candidates must have cleared the H.S. Examination with a minimum score of 55% (relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/OBC) in the concerned subject in which they wish to pursue the course.

BFA

Duration: 4 Years (8 Semesters)

Bachelor of Education [B.Ed] (Special Education)

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility:

Candidates securing a minimum score of 50% (-5% for SC/ST/OBC) in either in Bachelor’s/ Master’s Degree or both (subjects: Science/Social Science/Humanity), Or a minimum score of 55% (-5% for SC/ST/OBC) in Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology (B.Tech) (subjects: Science & Mathematics) are eligible to apply.

Note: Freshers on a break of studies of 2 years and Deputed candidates on any duration of break are not eligible to apply.

Bachelor of Library and Information Science [B.Lib.I.Sc]

Fresher candidates having a Bachelor/ Master’s Degree with Honors (10+2+3) or Bachelors in Engineering or Technology (10+2+4/ 10+2+5) from any institute recognized by the UGC are eligible to apply.

Fresher candidates having a break of studies of 2 years or more are not eligible to apply. Deputed candidates having a graduation degree in Honors and a full time salaried work employ experience from a Govt. aided institution or Library are eligible to apply. No break is allowed for deputed candidates.

For certificate courses, candidates having a graduation degree in Honors and a certificate in Library Sciences are eligible to apply.


How To Apply

BA , B.Ed & BFA

In order to fill the application form, students must follow these instructions in order to proceed with the scheduled admission process:-

Step 1: Online Registration

  • Students have to register themselves, providing all the required and valid information along with contact details (e-mail ID and mobile no.)
  • After successful registration, students may receive a Login Password via SMS. Students are advised to immediately change their passwords after first login.

Step 2: Login

  • After the students enter the login portal, they have to fill up the preferred course(s) & check the eligibility. If eligible, students may fill the rest of the application form.
  • During the filling up of the form, students have to upload a passport size photograph and a signature copy also.

(If the student doesn’t have complete information, he/she may save the form in draft and fill it afterwards.)

Step 3: Payment method

  • Once required information is filled, students have to proceed by clicking on the link to download the help manual for using State Bank Collect Portal. The information in the booklet consists of a Fees Identificaton No., needed for payment process.
  • Further students have to make the payment by clicking on the payment option and filling up the required information. After that they may be directed to the SB Collect Portal. Fill in the information and lastly collect the payment receipt.

NOTE

  1. The application form will be considered incomplete unless the student makes the payment.
  2. The student must take the print out of the form which consists of an Application Identification No. (AIN) which may be treated as a unique no during admission process.
  3. Without AIN, application form for any student may not be considered for admission.


Admission Process

BA

Criteria for evaluation of marks in merit lists for all courses offered are as follows:

50% of the score is based on the marks obtained in 10th  and 12th  standards (or equivalent) in the ratio of 20:30 respectively. (Best four subjects)

The other 50% is based on the score in the concerned subject in which the student wishes to apply in the Honors Degree. On the basis of total aggregate, the merit lists will be prepared.

For English specifically, there will be two separate merit lists. This separation will be performed on the basis of students seeking English language as their First or Second Language in their H.S. examination respectively. Also, for students qualified from different boards other than ICSE and CBSE. For students belong to these boards a separate admission test will be conducted and the provisional merit list will be prepared accordingly.

BFA

The total aggregate of each candidate shall be proposed based on the marks secured in H.S. /12 standard (or equivalent) and marks scored in the admission test (theory + practical) in the ratio 20:80 respectively, according to which the merit list will be prepared.

Selection of Elective Subject:

For students who are pursuing B.A. or B.A. Hons. Degree of respective faculties, they have to select two subjects from the following Groups A, B, C, D. Out of which only one subject can be selected per group. The elected subjects carry 300 marks each.

NOTE:

  • Students opting for Instrumental Music are prohibited from choosing Percussion anymore and Vice-Versa.
  • Any change in the choice of elective subject may not be entertained after two months from the date of admission.
  • Students cannot opt for the same elective subject to which they are concerned with in the Honors Degree.
  • Additional fees of INR 2000/- has to be paid by the students opting for Mass Communication & Videography. The payment must be made within one month from the date of admission.

B.Ed

Deputed candidates having a teaching experience from class IX onwards from a Govt. aided school will be eligible for admissions. They should also submit an NOC issued from the school authority at the time of admission.

Reservation

SEAT ALLOTMENT AND RESERVATION For B.Ed

Total no of seats for the B.Ed. Course: 50

Out of the total, 75% seats will be reserved for Fresher candidates (90% of this is reserved for home university and 10% for other university candidates) and the rest 25% of seats are reserved for Deputed candidates.

Out of the total, 90% seats will be reserved for home university candidates and the rest 10% seats will be for open competition from other universities. As per the Govt. rules, separate reservation of seats will be conducted for reserved categories (SC/ST/O

SEAT RESERVATION For B.L.I.Sc.

  1. Separate seat reservation for the reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC) as per the Govt. guidelines.

2) Students must notify themselves about the seat allocation for fresher candidates (internal & external) and deputed candidates from the University website.

3) B.L.I.Sc. Course reserves 4 separate seats for Foreign/ NRI candidates against a higher tuition fees.
