Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU)has offered Post Graduate course in different specializations especially for students belongs to Tamil Nadu & Puducherry. MBA Programmein online mode in IT Enable Financial Services is also offered by TNOU in collaboration with Global Talent Track Pvt. Ltd, Pune.

The University’s activities regarding admission has been divided into two sessions Calendar year & the Academic one i.e. commencing in January & July respectively. TNOU University has established Learning Resource Centres (LRC), Phychotherapy Centres & Programme Study Centres (PSC) to deliver education to their students. Learning Material provided by the university whether it is in print or electronic medium is easy to understand. Master of Science [M.Sc] (Psychology)

Students looking for admission must have passed bachelor’s degree from any recognized university.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Mathematics)

Students must have passed B.Sc. in Mathematics from any recognized University.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Geography)

Students looking for admission must have passed bachelor’s degree from any recognized university.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Computer Science)

  • Students must have passed B.Sc. Computer Science / B.C.A. /B.Sc. Computer Technology / B.Sc. Information Technology / B. Sc Information Sciences/ B. Sc Information Systems/ B.Sc. Software Systems/ B. Sc Software Sciences / B. Sc Applied Sciences (Computer Science/Computer Technology are eligible to apply.
  • Students with B.E/B. Tech, (CS/IT)/ and equivalent are eligible to apply.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Counselling & Psychotherapy)

  • Students must have the Bachelor’s / Master Degree in Psychology.
  • Students who have not studied English in their graduation have to undergo a bridge course in Psychology.

Counselling & Physiotherapy (Lateral Entry)

Students must have passed post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counselling from TNOU will be eligible to apply.

M.Com

  • Students must be a graduate in Commerce/ Business Administration/- Corporate Secretary ship/ACA/ AICWA/ and ACS.
  • Those students are eligible who have studied at least 02 papers in Commerce during their degree programme

Master of Business Administration [MBA] (Logistics & Shipping Management) & Master of Business Administration [MBA] (Hospital Administration)

Eligibility: Graduate degree in any discipline is sufficient to get admission in TNOU MBA course. There is no age criteria for distance MBA. In case you have completed your graduation after polytechnic (Diploma after 10th of 10+2), you are also eligible to apply.


How to Apply for M.A/M.Com and M.Sc Courses

MA , M.Com & M.Sc

Students can apply for any of the session January or July according to their interest. They have to fill the separate application with respect to Calendar or Academic session. Students can obtain the application form from:

  • University’s sales counters on payment of INR 100 as cash.
  • From study or Zonal centres on payment of INR 100 as cash.
  • Students can also obtain the Application form through post by sending a Demand Draft of INR 150 drawn in favor of “ Tamil Nadu Open University” payable at Chennai issued by any nationalized or scheduled bank to

Note: Application form along with the prospectus will be sent only through ordinary post from the University.

  • Before filling the application form students are advised to go through the OMR application form’s instructions first.
  • Students must fill the application form & pay the requisite amount of fee in community college only with respect to the programme applied. Fee is required to be paid in the University only.
  • Students can remit the fee in any State Bank or Indian Bank branch by using the photocopy of the fee remittance challan enclosed with the prospectus. The respective bank will keep the bank copy of challan & return the TNOU & student copy of the challan to the student. Student is required to enclose the TNOU copy of the challan with application form & send it to the University’s address or to the respective study centre.


Admission Process for M.A/M.Com and M.Sc Courses

  • TNOU has established a fixed number of study centres within Tamil Nadu state to assist students for whole admission procedure & learning activities.
  • To coordinate the activities among Study centres & University, separate zonal centres also have been established. These zonal centres act as a link between the two.
  • After obtaining the application form at the desired study centre, authorities shall issue the acknowledgement card to the student & the Zonal centres will send the documents after scrutiny to the Admission wing of the university. University will first confirm the information provided by the student & will issue the ID card.
  • If a student has not opt for any study centre then university will allot the nearest location to the student according to his/her address.

Scholarship Details:

SC/ST students, if not employed in any organization/firm or institute but want to pursue distance education especially in  formal disciplines are eligible for reimbursement of the non-refundable fees provided the annual income of their parents does not exceed INR 1,00,000/.

These students can obtain the scholarship form from the Offices of Adi Dravidar/Tribal Welfare Department of TNOU. Important information required to be furnished from candidate’s side are:

  1. Applicant’s Savings Bank Account No.
  2. Name of the Bank & Branch

Scholarship form with all details is required to be sent to the Director, SSSD, TNOU.

Note: Initially, you have to pay the tuition fee after due scrutiny the applications for scholarships will be forwarded to the respective Government Departments for sanction of the scholarships.

Differently -abled students pursuing a Programme at the University are eligible for tuition fee exemption. The candidate shall apply in the prescribed application Form, for admission along with the challans for INR 300/- enclosing a copy of the disability certificate.
