Established in 1969,Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is a public central university, located in New Delhi. The university has earned a grade of 3.9 out of 4 from NAAC, the highest grade awarded to any educational institution in the country and is considered among the top universities in the country. It has 10 Schools and four special centres which offer Undergraduate (BA Hons.), PG (MA, M.Sc, MCA) and several integrated research courses.

The university offers only one UG programme i.e. Bachelor of Arts (regular and lateral entry mode) in several languages including German, French, Spanish etc. Selection of the candidate will be done on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination, conducted by the university. Candidates can register themselves by submitting the application fee of Rs. 300/- through online payment modes or offline method i.e. demand draft (DD).

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 (HSC) or equivalent examination from this university or any other recognized university with minimum 45% aggregate of marks (OR)
  • Candidates having certificates issued by madrasas with at least 45% aggregate of marks are also eligible to apply
  • Candiates must have attained 17 years of age as on October 1, 2016

Candidate must possess bachelor’s degree or should have passed equivalent examination from this university or any other recognized university with minimum 45% aggregate of marks under 10+2+3 pattern of education.

Eligibility (German):

Candidate must have passed first year of Bachelor's degree or an exam recognised as equivalent thereto with at least 50% marks under 10+2+3 pattern of education with adequate proficiency in German


How To Apply

BA

Candidates can apply either online or offline

Online Application:

  • Candidates can register themselves for admission to BA (Regular & Lateral Entry) programme through online application process available at the official university website.
  • Application fee of Rs. 300/- should also be submitted along with completed applications through the online payment modes such as net banking, credit/ debit card etc.

Offline Application:

  • Candidates can also request for application form to be sent by post along with the prospectus by sending Crossed Demand Draft of Rs.300/- along with the self-addressed envelope.
  • DD should be drawn in favour of "Jawaharlal Nehru University", payable at New Delhi and the letter should clearly indicate the program of study for which the Application Form is required
  • Natives of Nepal can also obtain the prospectus and application form by sending demand draft of amount Rs. 400/- or equivalent in USD
  • Duly filled-in applications, in all respects, along with the copies of all the necessary enclosures should reach through registered post/ speed post at the following address:

Enclosures:

  1. Two self attested copies of the Matriculation, Higher Secondary Pre-University of Indian School Certificate or Senior School Certificate (10+2) or an equivalent examination certificate, showing the age/date of birth of the candidate
  2. A Character Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended
  3. Two self attested copies of the statement of marks obtained by the candidate in Senior School or their equivalent examination
  4. SC/ST/OBC Certificate, if belonging to SC/ST/OBC category
  5. A Medical Certificate for PWD Candidates certifying nature & percentage of disability issued by the competent medical authority
  6. Migration Certificate (in original) from the Head of the Institution/University last attended.


Admission Process

BA

BA (First year)

Selection of the candidate is done on the basis of his/her performance in the entrance examination, conducted by the university itself.

BA (Lateral Entry)

Selection of the candidate is done on the basis of his/her performance in the entrance examination (70%) and viva voice (30%), both conducted by the university itself.


Reservation

For 27% seats are reserved for OBC candidates (non creamy layer), 15% & 7.5% of seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates respectively in all programs of study, 3% seats are reserved for Physically Challenged (Handicapped) candidates
