Jadavpur University UG Admissions 2017

Jadavpur University is a public state university located in Kolkata, West Bengal. It has two campuses: the main campus at Jadavpur and the new campus at Salt Lake.  It was upgraded to a full-fledged university in 1955. The University has its origin in the erstwhile National Council of Education.

Jadavpur University has been ranked within Top 10 Indian Research Institutions as per report of International Comparative Performance of India s Research Base (2009-14). It was Re-accredited by NAAC with a CGPA of 3.68 on a four point scale at A Grade for a period of five years in 2014.

The University invites Applications for admission to the undergraduate programmes for the academic year 2017-17. The programmes offered are Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.), Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.), Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) Programme for a duration of 4 years and the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) Programme for a duration of 5 years.

The admission to the programmes will be based on the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2017 to be held on May 17th, 2017. The entire application process is online and must be completed between January 5th, 2017 and February 29, 2017 with further dates being available for uploading of documents and payment of fees. The reservation policy will be as per the state government rules but candidate will have to have domicile in West Bengal only.

Eligibility: (For both Programmes)

Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General Stream in regular class mode of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Council/ Board with:

  • Individual passing mark in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • Minimum of 60% marks in above subjects taken together (45% for SC/ ST/ PWD candidates) having 60% marks in Mathematics (45% for SC/ ST/ PWD candidates) as well as passed in English with a minimum of 30% (for all categories of candidates) in the said qualifying examination.

B.Arch

Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General Stream in regular class mode of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Council/ Board with:

  • Individual passing mark in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • Minimum of 60% marks in above subjects taken together (45% for SC/ ST/ PWD candidates) having 60% marks in Mathematics (45% for SC/ ST/ PWD candidates) as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% (for all categories of candidates) in the said qualifying examination.
  • Candidate must qualify either in theNATA-2016 (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi or in Paper 2 of JEE Mains conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education. Necessary document in the regards will have to be produced at the time of counselling.

B.Pharm

Bachelor of Pharmacy Programme (4 Years)

Eligibility:

Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General Stream in regular class mode of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Council/ Board with:

  • Individual passing mark in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • Minimum of 60% marks in above subjects taken together (45% for SC/ ST/ PWD candidates) having 60% marks in Mathematics (45% for SC/ ST/ PWD candidates) as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% (for all categories of candidates) in the said qualifying examination.

Bachelor of Pharmacy – Ayurveda Programme (4 Years)

Eligibility:

Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General Stream in regular class mode of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Council/ Board with:

  • Individual passing marks in Physic, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English and Vernacular (or any other fifth subject)
  • Minimum of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology taken together for general candidates (40% for S.C/S.T candidates)


How To Apply

BE/B.Tech , B.Pharm & B.Arch

For WBJEE:

You should fill the Application Form online on the official WBJEE website. You must then choose the Type E Application.

WBJEE- 2016 Application Form will be broadly categorized into three steps-

  • Filling of personal details
  • Document uploading
  • Fee payment

You must fill in your Personal Details. You must be careful in filling this information. If there is any mistake, you will not be able to correct it later.

Document Uploading: You will then be directed to Document Uploading. You must upload all the images/documents in jpg/jpeg format. The page size of document should be in A4 format. You must upload the following documents and images in the size as given below:

Application Fee: Once the documents are successfully uploaded, the system will enter into the Fee Payment. You can pay the Application Fee of Rs. 500 + Bank Service Charges either by Debit Card/Credit Card or by Allahabad Bank Challan.

This completes your registration process. You can take a print out of the Confirmation Page after final submission of the Application for future references. There is no need to send any document by post.


Admission Process

BE/B.Tech & B.Arch

For all Programmes except B.Pharm. (Ayurveda):

You will be selected on the basis of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2017.

The exam would be based on class XI, XII Syllabus. There will be two papers. Paper I will be of Mathematics for a duration of 2 hours. Paper II will be of Physics and Chemistry, also for a duration of 2 hours. Questions in the exam will be of multiple choice/ objective type. In both the papers, questions will be classified in three categories – category 1, category 2 and category3. Distribution of questions is as below:

The category-wise marking scheme is as follows:

Category 1- For each correct answer, one mark will be awarded. There shall also be negative marking with 0.25 marks being deducted for every incorrect answer. For marking more than 1 answer, marks will be deducted.

Category 2- For each correct answer, 2 marks will be allotted and negative marking of 0.50 marks will be implemented for wrong answers. For marking more than 1 answer, marks will be deducted.

Category 3- In this section more than 1 answer can be correct. Negative making will not be done in this section. You might have to mark all the correct answers, for which 2 marks will be awarded. However, if you mark one correct and one incorrect answer then no marks will be awarded.

Bachelor of Pharmacy [B.Pharm] (Ayurveda)

You will be selected on the basis of merit. However, candidates with rank in WBJEE 2017 and/or AIEEE 2017 will be given preference.


Notes

  • You must be a citizen of India for admission to any of the above courses.
  • Passing marks in any subject for academic eligibility shall imply pass marks in theory and practical individually, as applicable, as specified by the concerned Council/Board.
  • Age (For all courses): You must be at least 17 years of age as on December 31st, 2017. There is no upper age limit.
