Jamia Millia Islamia PG Admissions 2017

Jamia Millia Islamia was established in 1920 by Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar, Shaikhul Hind Maulana Mahmud Hasan, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Shri A.M. Khwaja, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Ansari, Dr. Zakir Husain, etc. at Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh).

The University invites candidates for their various programs offered at the postgraduate level. Postgraduate courses require candidates to hold a Bachelor’s Degree as a prerequisite, along with course-wise eligibilities. The admission is based on entrance test conducted by JMI for each course. The test is also followed by an interview in some of the courses.

The last date for the submission of application forms is 21st April. Application forms are available on the University's website. They are to be filled and submitted online only. The seats indicated for each course are the maximum seats. The University may or may not fill all of them. About 50% of the seats are reserved for Muslim categories. Another 5% is booked for internal students.

Eligibility

Master of Arts [MA] (Islamic Studies) , Master of Arts [MA] (Arabic) & Master of Arts [MA] (Persian)

The candidates seeking admission must have a B.A. /B.Sc. or B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (Hons.) Degree with at least 45% marks aggregate OR 50% marks in the subject concerned.

Master of Arts [MA] (Development Communication) , Master of Arts [MA] (English) & Master of Arts [MA] (Hindi)

The candidates seeking admission must have a B.A. /B.Sc. or B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (Hons.) Degree with at least 50% marks aggregate OR 50% marks in the subject concerned.

Master of Arts [MA] (Economics) & Master of Arts [MA] (Political Science)

The candidates seeking admission must have a B.A. /B.A. (Hons.) Degree in the subject concerned with at least 50% marks aggregate, OR he/she should have any B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. or B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (Hons.) Degree with at least 55% marks aggregate.

Master of Arts [MA] (Human Rights and Duties Education)

The candidate seeking admission must have a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks aggregate. Preference will be given to those candidate who hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Rights and Duties Education.

Master of Arts [M.A.] (Convergent Journalism) , Master of Arts [MA] (Mass Communication) & Master of Arts [MA] (Politics)

The candidate seeking admission must have a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks aggregate.

Master of Arts [MA] (Social Work)

The candidate seeking admission must have one of the following qualifications:

  1. B.A. (Hons.) Degree in Social Work / Sociology / Psychology/Economics/ Political Science / History with at least 50% aggregate marks.
  2. B.A. Degree with any two of the following subjects: Sociology/ Psychology/Economics/ Political Science/History with at least 50% aggregate marks.
  3. B.Sc. (Hons.) Degree with at least 50% aggregate marks.
  4. Any other B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. or B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (Hons.) Degree with at least 55% aggregate marks.
  5. Any other Degree with at least 60% aggregate marks.

Master of Arts [MA] (Applied Psychology)

The candidates seeking admission must have a B.A. (Hons.) Degree in Psychology with at least 50% aggregate marks, or a B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. or B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. (Hons.) or B.Sc. (Home Sc.) Degree with at least 55% aggregate marks.

Master of Arts [MA] (Education)

The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree (except B.Voc.) with at least 50% aggregate marks, or B.Ed. / B.Ed. Nursery/ D.El.Ed. Degree with at least 50% marks in the theory component.

Master of Arts [MA] (Visual Effects and Animation)

The candidate seeking admission must have a Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University with at least 50% aggregate marks. The candidate should also be proficient in Windows, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.

Master of Arts [MA] (Geography) & Master of Arts [MA] (Mathematics)

The candidate seeking admission must have a B.A./B.Sc. (Hons.) in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks both aggregate and in the subject, or the candidate must have a B.A./B.Sc. Degree with 50% marks both in aggregate and in the concerned subject.

Master of Computer Applications [M.C.A]

The candidates seeking admission must have a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks aggregate along with Mathematics at 10+2 level.

Master of Business Administration [MBA]

M.B.A. is a 2 year course in which the University provides the following specializations:

  • Regular (Full Time)
  • Executive* – Self-financed/Part-Time
  • International Business – Self-financed

Eligibility: The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks aggregate

Experience: The candidates seeking admission in M.B.A. (Executive) must also have at least 3 years of experience in Govt. or Private sector at executive level. These include Public Limited/Private Limited Company/ P.S.U/M.N.C/ M.N.E/3 Wings of Armed forces.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Chemistry) & Master of Science [M.Sc] (Physics)

  • Physics
  • Chemistry (Inorganic, Organic, Physical, and Materials – Polymers and Advanced Ceramics)

Eligibility: The candidate seeking admission must have a B.Sc. Degree with at least 50% marks aggregate and 55% marks in the subject concerned.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Mathematics with Computer Science)

The candidate seeking admission must have a B.A. /B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics or B.A. /B.Sc. (Hons.) Degree in Mathematics with at least 50% marks both aggregate and in Mathematics.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Bioinformatics)

The candidate seeking admission must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, Medical, or Pharmacy with at least 50% marks, along with mathematics at 10th level.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Biochemistry)

The candidate seeking admission must have a B.Sc. /B.Sc. (Hons.) Degree in Biology or Chemistry (with Bio as a subject) with at least 50% aggregate marks.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Biotechnology)

The candidate seeking admission must have a B.Pharm./ B.Sc. / B.Sc. (Hons.) Degree in Biosciences/ Biotechnology/ Biotechnology (Vocational) / Bio-Chemistry/Microbiology /Genetics or in any area of Modern Biology with at least 50% aggregate marks.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Electronics)

The candidate seeking admission must have a B.Sc. (Hons.) Electronics / Physics / Instrumentation or B. Appl. Sc. (Hons) in Instrumentation / B. Applied Sc. In Instrumentation / B.Sc. Instrumentation / B.Sc. (Electronics) / B.Sc. (pass) Degree with Physics, Mathematics as optional subjects with at least 50% aggregate marks.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Geography) & Master of Science [M.Sc] (Mathematics)

The candidate seeking admission must have a B.A./B.Sc. (Hons.) in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks both aggregate and in the subject, or the candidate must have a B.A./B.Sc. Degree with 50% marks both in aggregate and in the concerned subject.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Biophysics)

The candidate seeking admission must have a B.Sc. Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Biochemistry or Microbiology, Mathematics, or Computer Science with at least 55% aggregate marks along with Mathematics at 12th level.

Master of Fine Arts [MFA] (Applied Arts) , Master of Fine Arts [MFA] (Painting) & Master of Fine Arts [MFA] (Sculpture)

The candidate seeking admission must have a B.F.A. Degree in the same discipline with at least 60% aggregate marks

M.Com

The candidates seeking admission must have a B.Com. / BBS / BBA / BIBF / B.Com. (Pass) or an equivalent Degree with at least 55% aggregate marks, or a B.Com. / BBS / BBA / BIBF (Hons.) Degree with at least 50% aggregate marks.

Master of Education [M.Ed] (Special Education) & Master of Education [M.Ed]

M.Ed. is a 2 year course in which the University provides the following specializations:

Eligibility: The candidate seeking admission must have a B.Ed. /B.A., B.Ed. /B.Sc., or B.Ed. /B.El.Ed. Degree with at least 50% aggregate marks. Or, the candidate should have a D.El.Ed. with an Undergraduate Degree with 50% marks in both.

  • Special Education

Eligibility: The candidate seeking admission must have:

B.A. or B.Sc. (except vocational courses and B.Com.) Degree along with B.Ed. (Special Education) with at least 50% aggregate marks specializing in Visual Impairment or Learning Disabilities.OR

B.A. or B.Sc. (except vocational courses and B.Com.) Degree along with B.Ed. Degree with at least 50% marks aggregate, along with a one year course in Special Educations specializing in Visual Impairment or Learning Disabilities.OR

B.A. or B.Sc. (except B.A./ B.Sc. Vocational or B.Com.) and 50% marks in Diploma for Secondary School teachers of Visually Handicapped or Learning Disability from Institution recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India.

LLM

The candidate seeking admission must have LL.B. Degree with at least 50% aggregate marks.

Master of Physiotherapy [MPT] (Sports-Physiotherapy) , Master of Physiotherapy [MPT] (Orthopaedics) & Master of Physiotherapy [MPT] (Neurology)

M.P.T. is a 2 year course in which the University provides the following specializations:

  • Sports
  • Orthopedics
  • Neurology
  • Cardiopulmonary

Eligibility: The candidates seeking admission must have a Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy (4 ½ year course) with at least 50% aggregate marks.

Examination:

All candidates who seek admission to any of the JMI's offered courses have to appear for an Entrance Test that is conducted by JMI. The entrance test may or may not be followed by an interview. The decided syllabus along with the admit cards of the registered students are made available on the University's website.

The tests for most of the Postgraduate courses are conducted in the campus of Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi. Although some of the courses have their entrance exam conducted in multiple cities. These courses are:

  • M.A. - Eco/English/History/Human Resource Management/ Social Work/ Political Science
  • M.C.A.
  • M.Com.
  • M.B.A. – Full Time/ International Business
  • M.Sc. – Biosciences/ Biotechnology/ Chemistry/ Physics

The exam for these courses can be given in any of the following cities:

The interviews will only be conducted at JMI campus, Delhi.


How To Apply

MBA/PGDM , Master of Physiotherapy(MPT) & LLM

  1. Candidates can get the application form from http://jmi.ac.in/onlineadmissionform.
  2. The candidates have to fill the form online.
  3. The candidate has to upload a scanned copy of their colored passport sized photo (.jpeg format with size not between 5KB and 20KB) and their signature (Blue/Black ink on white paper with size between 5KB and 10KB).
  4. After filling the form, the candidates have to pay a registration fee of Rs.700/- either by Net Banking/Debit/Credit card or the fees can be paid in cash at any Indian Bank branch by downloading the challan from the admission portal.
  5. The candidates are not required to upload any certificate etc.
  6. The following details are mandatory to be ready with the candidate before filling the form:
  • E-mail ID
  • Mobile Number
  • Scanned Photo
  • Scanned Signature
  • Credit/Debit Card (in case of online payment)

Note: When paying through debit/credit card, do not press back/refresh or close the window during the payment as it can cancel the payment.


Admission Process

MBA/PGDM , LLM & M.Ed

  1. The selection is based on the rank/marks scored by the candidate in an Entrance Test conducted by JMI.
  2. The entrance test may or may not be followed by an interview.
  3. The candidates have to score at least 40% marks to be eligible for selection.
  4. The allotment of seats will be according to JMI's Admission Procedure.
  5. A list of selected and waitlisted candidates will be available on JMI's notice board as well as on their website.
  6. The selected candidates will be given a date to appear for the admission formalities.
  7. The selected candidates are to bring their admit cards of the entrance test, along with originals and self-attested copies of the following documents:
  • Proof of passing qualifying exam along with marksheets.
  • 10+2 or equivalent exam's marksheet
  • Age proof (High School/Senior Secondary School's marksheet)
  • Proof of entitlement to any reserved category (if applicable)
  • Character Certificate from the last attended institute
  • Certificate from M.B.B.S. doctor/Govt. Hospital certifying blood group
  • In case of gap period, certificate from class –1 gazetted officer to certify no indulgence in criminal behavior
  • Proof of address along with name and location of nearest police station
  • Certificate of No Objection by current employer (for evening/part-time/Sponsored courses)

Note: Self employed candidates have to show authentic evidence of self-employment.

  1. Fees for the first year can be paid by cash, online, or demand draft.
