University of Hyderabad M.Phil. and Ph.D. Admission 2018

University of Hyderabad (UOH)  is a public University affiliated by UGC and AIU. The university is accredited grade “A” by NAAC.The University imparts professional /non-professional education, research and training. The university offers admission to the following programmes: 

  • M.Phil.(Master of Philosophy)
  • Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy)

Only candidates with the suitable qualification i.e. master’s in relevant discipline can register for the above mentioned programmes. Reservation of seats shall be as per the GOI/UGC norms for SC/ST/OBC/PH/ Seats are reserved for people belonging to different categories such as SC/ST/BC/PH etc. as well as special categories viz. Differently-abled /Wards/Dependants of defence personnel/ Kashmiri migrants/ Foreign Nationals/ NRIs.

Few seats are also provided to the nominees from some Union Territories/North Eastern states. Relaxation in the prescribed percentage of marks in the qualifying degree examination is also provided for SC/ST/PH categories etc. in accordance to the rules of the government of India/UGC.

Candidates can register for admission by filling-in the online application form and submitting the required processing fee, on or before April 23, 2017. Admission to these programs is done on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the entrance test-2017.

Eligibility of the courses mentioned above is as follows:

  • Candidate must have hold of master’s degree in the concerned/relevant  subject with not less than 55% of marks/equivalent grade from a recognized university
  • Candidates need to qualify the written test and interview
  • Qualified Candidate who have qualified UGC/CSIR/NBHM /JRF/RGNF/MANF  are not required to take the entrance test
  • Candidates who are appearing in the final examination of the qualifying degree and expecting their results and certificates before 31st July 2015 are also eligible to apply

How To Apply

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science , M.Phil/Ph.D in Engineering & M.Phil/Ph.D in Pharmacy

Candidates must apply for admission by filling in and submitting completed online application before April 23, 2017. All fields in the application form should be correctly and completely filled-in with the relevant information.

Candidate should log on to the http://acad.uohyd.ac.in website and follow the given steps:

  1. Fill the application form online with the necessary information
  2. Pay the application fee via available  payment modes
  3. Upload  the necessary scanned documents 
  4. Candidate must preserve the registration number generated during the online filling of application form.
  5. Note: without the generation of registration no. the registration process is incomplete.
  6. Submit the application form online
  7. Download the hall ticket
  8. Candidate must keep the Xerox copy of the completed applications for subsequent use

The candidate should upload / bring/submit the application and the following copies of following documents at the time of counselling/whensoever asked to do so.

  1. Transfer Certificate   
  2. HSC/CBSE/other equivalent mark sheet
  3. Graduation certificate
  4. Master’s degree certificate
  5. M.PHIL. / UGC/CSIR/NBHM /JRF/RGNF/MANF  qualification certificate
  6. Community Certificate (For OC candidates community certificate not required)   
  7. Certificates for Special categories, if required     
  8. Nativity Certificate if required   
  9.  Date of Birth Certificate (SSC / ICSE / CBSE).
  10. Medical certificate
  11. Other relevant documents

Important Note:

  • Application/entrance  fee for General & OBC Category: INR 350/-
  • Application/entrance fee for SC/ST/PH Category: INR 150/-

Note: Then application/registration fee is non-refundable


Admission Process

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts , M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Engineering

Candidates will be selected for the above Program on the basis of their merit in written test followed by an interview.

However, candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR/NBHM /JRF/RGNF/MANF are exempted from the written test. Selection of such candidates shall be based on the interview.
