CUSAT Admissions 2018

Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) offers one UG, four Integrated and five PG programme. Generally for all UG and PG courses, the application starts from January month of every year. This year, the Online application for admission to UG and PG programmes has been started from January 22, 2018 (tentative) and it will be closed on February 15, 2018 (tentative). CUSAT CAT exam is conducted by University and it will be held on April 30 and May 01, 2018 (tentative).

In CUSAT, all programmes of CUSAT expect the 3 year evening LLB programme are approved for fee concessions for SC/ST candidates and other Eligible Communities. 50% tuition fee concession will be granted for PWD candidates. Hostel accommodation for around 700 female and 600 male students is available for all UG, PG and Research students. You can download application form for admission to university hostels from university websites.

BE/B.Tech

CUSAT offers following 4 years B.Tech programmes:

  • B.Tech. Information Technology
  • B.Tech. Safety and Fire Engineering

Eligibility Criteria For all disciplines except Marine Engineering

You must have passed 10+2 in PCM with 50% marks in aggregate and minimum 50% marks in Mathematics separately to apply for B.Tech programme offered by CUSAT.

B. Tech Instrumentation Technology: You must have passed 10+2 in PCM with 60% marks in aggregate and minimum 55% marks in Mathematics separately to apply for B.Tech programme offered by CUSAT.

B. Tech Naval Architecture & Ship Building: You must have passed 10+2 in PCM with 60% marks in aggregate and minimum 50% marks in Mathematics separately to apply for B.Tech programme offered by CUSAT.

Note: For all Under Graduate Programmes  (except   Marine Engineering)  the minimum eligibility for SEBC candidates of Kerala State with  Non-Creamy  Layer Status to be considered  under reservation  quota for admission  to B. Tech is minimum 45% marks for Mathematics and 45% marks for Mathematics, Physics and  Chemistry put together in  the qualifying  examination.

The Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Cast (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination except for Marine Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech(Lateral Entry) Programme:

You must have any three year Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by the Board of Technical Education recognised by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks, will be considered for admission to the B.Tech. programme through Lateral Entry Scheme.

The maximum age prescribed is 25 years as on 1st July of the year of admission.

The Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Cast (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination expect marine engineering.

Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Marine Engineering)

You must have passed 10+2 in PCM with 60% marks in aggregate and minimum 50% marks in Mathematics separately to apply for B.Tech programme offered by CUSAT. You should have passed English at 10th and 12th with 50% marks. It is also applicable for SC/ST candidates. Vocational/Diploma students are not eligible to apply. The Maximum age limit to apply for Marining engineering is 25 Years as on 1st September of the year of admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc.] + Master of Science [M.Sc.] (Photonics)

You must have passed 10+2 in PCM with 50% marks in aggregate and minimum 50% marks in Mathematics separately to apply for Integrated M.Sc. Programme offered by CUSAT.

LLB

You must have Bachelor’s Degree with 40% (35 % for SC/ST candidates)aggregate marks in any  discipline of a University recognized by CUSAT.  Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination may also apply in anticipation of result.

M.Sc

M.Sc. Statistics: You must have B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics or Statistics as main Subject with 55% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.Sc. Chemistry: You must have B.Sc. Degree with Chemistry /Poly mer Chemistry / Environmental Chemistry /Industrial Chemistry / Petrochemicals (main) with M athematics as one of the subsidiary subject with 55% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.Sc. Computer Science: You must have Bachelor degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology /Computer Applicat ions/Computer Science & Engineering with 60% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.Sc. Biopolymer Science: You must have B.Sc. Degree with Chemistry as one of the Subject with 50% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.Sc. Electronics Science: You must have B.Sc. Degree in Electronics with 60% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.Sc. Instrumentation: You must have B.Sc. Degree in Instrumentation/Electronics/Physics with 60% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.Sc. Hydrochemistry: You must have B.Sc. Degree in Chemistry or Mathematics with 55% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.Sc. Oceanography: You must have B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics/Physics as main Subject with 55% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.Sc. Marine Geography: You must have B.Sc. degree in Geology/Physics with Mathematics as one of the subjects and at least 60% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.Sc. Environmental Engineering: You must have B.Sc. degree in Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics or B.E/B.Tech. with 55% (50% for SC/ST candidates) aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.Sc. Environmental Biotechnology: You must have a bachelor degree in Life Sciences/ Environmental Science/Zoology/Botany/Microbiology with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.Sc. Meteorology: You must have B.Sc. degree in Physics with Mathematics or Mathematics with Physics/Computer Science with Mathematics and Physics/Chemistry with Physics and Mathematics with 55% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.Sc. Biotechnology: You must have a bachelor degree in any subject of Life Sciences Science including Agricultural and Medical Science/Chemical Science/Chemical Engineering  with 55% marks to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.Sc. Marine Biology: You must have a bachelor degree in any subject of Life Sciences or B.Sc. Degree in Fishery Science with 55% marks to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.Sc. Industrial Fisheries: You must have a bachelor degree in any subject of Life Sciences or B.Sc. Degree in Fisheries/B.F.Sc. degree in Nautical Science with 55% marks to apply for M.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

M.F.Sc. (Seafood Safety and Trade)

You must have a bachelor degree in Fisheries/Food Technoogy/Food Science/Microbiology/Biochemistry /Zoology with 55% marks or B.Sc. Degree in Fisheries in relevant fields /B.F.Sc. degree in Nautical Science/ Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology or Food Science to apply for M.F.Sc. programme offered by CUSAT.

MA

CUSAT offers following 2 year MA programmes:

  • M.A. Hindi Language and Literature
  • M.A. Applied Economics

Eligibility Criteria for MA programme

M.A. Hindi Language and Literature: You must have BA/B.Sc. Degree with Hindi as a Subject of study with 45% aggregate marks in Hindi to apply for MA programme offered by CUSAT.

M.A. Applied Economics: You must have Bachelor Degree in Economics with 55% in Part III (Economics and Subsidaries) or B.Com./BBA/BB with Economics as one of the subject with 60% marks or B.Sc. Mathematics/Statistics with 65% marks to apply for MA programme offered by CUSAT. No minimum percentage marks required in qualifying examination for SC/ST candidates.

LLM

CUSAT offers following LLM programmes

  • LLM (2 Years)
  • LLM (1 year) (with Intellectual Property Rights specialisation)

Eligibility Criteria

LLM: You must have Bachelor in Law Degree 45% aggregate marks to apply for LLM programme offered by CUSAT.

LLM (with Intellectual Property Rights specialisation): You must have Bachelor’s Degree in law (law degree  not mandatory  for foreign  students) with 55% marks to apply for LLM programme offered by CUSAT.

MCA

CUSAT offers following MCA programmes

  • 3 Year Master of Computer Application(Regular)
  • 3 Year Master of Computer Application(Cost Sharing)
  • 2 Year Master of Computer Application(Lateral Entry)

Eligibility Criteria

MCA (Regular & Cost Sharing): You must have Bachelor’s Degree with Mathematics as a Subject of study or Bachelor Degree in Electronics/Information Technology/Computer Science/Computer Applications/Engineering/ Technology with 45% aggregate marks in all subjects other than language and humanities to apply for MA programme offered by CUSAT.

MCA (Lateral Entry): You must have Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/Computer Applications /Computer Science and Engineering with 55% aggregate marks to apply for MA programme offered by CUSAT.

Bachelor of Business Administration [BBA] + Bachelor of Laws [L.L.B.] {Hons.} & Bachelor of Commerce + Bachelor of Laws [BCom L.L.B.] {Hons.}

You should have Pass in 10+2 examinations with 60% marks in Science group or 55% marks in Commerce/Arts / Humanities. You should not have completed 20 years (22 years SC/ST and OBC candidates) of age as on 1st July of the year of admission.


How to apply for CUSAT UG and PG programmes?

You can submit application form for UG and PG programmes expect MA Translation in German/Russian only online mode. The registration window has been opened from January 20, 2018 (tentative). Visit CUSAT website for online application. You can not apply for UG and PG programme after February 15, 2018 (tentative). Admissions to all programs except Marine Engineering are based on the CUSAT CAT Rank.

Application Fee:

  • INR 1000/- For General & OBC Candidates
  • INR 500/- For SC/ST Candidates
  • INR 6000/- For NRI Candidates

Note: An additional  fee of Rs. 10,000/- is payable by  candidates opting Dubai as Test Centre. 

How to apply?

Submit Application Form: The online application submission is a two-stage process.

  • Stage 1: In this stage, you should fill basic personal details such as Name, DOB, email id, mobile number etc. After submitting details, user Id and password will be sent by mail and SMS.
  • Stage 2: In this stage, you should login with the help of user id and password. Now fill all other details required in the online registration form and upload your recent passport size colour photograph and signature.

Required dimensions and size of photo & signature

For Photo: 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm with the file size between 4 KB and 100 KB

For Signature: 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm with file size between 1 KB and 30 KB

Make Payment: You can make payment through SBI/SBT Internet Banking or through Challan. You should check your application status after two working days from the date of payment of fee. Last date for fee submission is February 22, 2018 (tentative).

Selection Procedure

BE/B.Tech , MCA & M.Sc

For the Programmes,  B.Tech (regular and lateral entry), 5 year Integrated M.Sc. Photonics, BCom-LLB, BBA-LLB,  LLB, LLM, M IP-PhD,  LLM -PHD, M.FSc and  all  MA, M.Sc. & MCA (regular  &  lateral entry ) Programmes  the rank list  will  be prepared on the basis of the CAT  Scores  obtained  in the CAT Test prescribed for each  Programme  with the exception  in the case of M.Sc. (Industrial Fisheries).

Note: Admission to B.Tech Lateral Entry Programme will be performed through CUSAT LET 2018 while the application process is same as that for CUSAT CAT 2018.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Industrial Fisheries)

Admission to M.Sc. (Industrial Fisheries) will be based  on the rank list prepared on t he basis of CAT  Score in the specified  Test  and Score obtained in the Interview conducted by School of Industrial Fisheries.

Special Reservation:

Physically Challenged: 3% seats are  reserved for physically  challenged  candidates with at least 40% disability for all  B.Tech courses, except B.Tech Marine Engineering,  Mechanical  Engineering,  Naval  Architecture & Ship  Building,  Instrumentation, Polymer Science  & Engineering and Safety & Fire Engineering. One seat  each for all other academic programmes except  M.Sc. (Industrial Fisheries)  is reserved for physically  challenged candidates.

Blind: Reservation for Blind candidates is applicable only for MA (Hindi) and LLM programmes.

Note: Candidates belonging to states other than Kerala are not eligible for communal reservation.
