Gautam Buddha University (GBU) is a state-owned University located in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It is a fully residential campus, with world-class infrastructure. The University offers UG, PG, and research courses in multiple disciplines.

The University offers both undergraduate and postgraduate engineering, architecture and planning courses through its School of Engineering, School of Biotechnology, and School of Information and Communication Technology. The application process for these programs begins in March. The application process is online and can be completed on University’s official website. These programs are also open to International candidates.

The University conducts an entrance test, GPTU (General Proficiency Test for Undergraduates) for admission to all B.Tech. programs. The admission to B.Arch. is on the basis of marks scored in NATA. For admission to M.Tech. and M.Plan., university conducts GPT (General Proficiency Test for Post-graduates) and personal interview.

Eligibility Criteria

BE/B.Tech

For Indian Candidates

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from this university or any other recognized university with minimum 50% marks for General candidates and 45% marks for candidates belong to SC/ST category
  • Candidate must pass separately in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with minimum 40% marks

B.Arch

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from this university or any other recognized university with minimum 50% marks and 45% marks (for candidates belong to SC/ST category).
  • Candidate must pass separately in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with minimum 40% marks along with NATA score securing minimum 40% marks.

ME/M.Tech

Candidate must possess B.Tech. degree in EE/EEE/EC Instrumentation Engineering with minimum 60% marks for general candidates and 55% marks for candidates who belong to SC/ST category candidates.

Candidate must possess B.Tech. degree in food processing technology/ food engineering/ dairy engineering/ agriculture engineering/ biotechnology/ biochemical engineering with minimum 50% marks for general candidates and 45% marks for candidates who belong to SC/ST category candidates.

Software Engineering, Intelligent System and Robotics, Wireless Communication and Networks, VLSI Design

Candidate must possess BE/B.Tech. degree in computer science/ computer technology/ information technology/ electronics and communication or MCA with minimum 50% marks and 45% marks (for candidates who belong to SC/ST category candidates)

Computer Science

Candidate must possess BE/B.Tech degree in computer science/ computer technology/ information technology/ electronics and communication or  M.Sc. in Computer Science or MCA from this university or any other recognized university with minimum 50% marks for General category candidates and 45% marks for candidates belong to SC/ST category candidates.

Embedded System

Candidate must possess BE/B.Tech degree in electronics science/ electronics and communication/ information technology or M.Sc. in Electronics from this university or any other recognized university with minimum 50% marks and 45% marks for candidates who belong to SC/ST category candidates.

Biotechnology

Candidate must have B.Tech. degree in Biotechnology or any other area of Biotechnology or M.Sc. in Life Science with minimum 50% marks for general candidates and 45% marks for SC/ST candidates.

M.Planning

Candidate must possess graduation degree in B.Plan. or B.Arch. or BE/B.Tech. in Civil Engineering or MA in Sociology/Geography/Economics from this university or any other recognized university with minimum 60% marks and 55% marks for candidates who belong to SC/ST category

For Foreign Candidates

  • Candidate must hold valid passport from their respective countries.
  • Candidate must obtain certificate of the International Students approved by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
  • Candidate studying in the final year or having qualified Degree are also eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must have completed 12 years or 10+2 years of formal schooling at the school level followed by a Bachelor’s Degree.


How to Apply

For Indian Candidates

  • Candidates can fill the application form for GPTU and GPT on the university website “www.gbu.ac.in”
  • The application fee is Rs. 1200/- for General candidates and Rs. 600/- for SC/ST category candidates.
  • Application fee can be paid through credit card/ debit card/ net banking / Demand Draft.
  • A print-out of the filled in application form must be sent to the following address:

Note: Candidates applying to B.Arch. program must send their NATA score not older than 2 years on the last date of the application.

For International Candidates

  • Candidates can download the application form from the university website “www.gbu.ac.in”
  • International Candidates can register themselves to the above mentioned courses by submitting the registration fee of amount $200.
  • Candidates can pay the fees through cash mode in the branch of the nationalized bank situated in the GBU campus
  • Candidates can also pay the fees through Demand Draft issued in favour of The Chairman Admissions, Gautam Buddha University payable at Greater Noida.

Admission Process

BE/B.Tech , ME/M.Tech & B.Arch

The university conducts GPTU or General Proficiency Test for Undergraduates for admission to B.Tech. program. The entrance test will have three sections – Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. While Chemistry and Physics section will have 30% weightage each, Mathematics will have 40% weightage.

For admission to M.Tech. and M.Plan. courses, the university conducts GPT or General Proficiency Test for Postgraduates. GPT has three sections – Subject Awareness, English Proficiency, and General Knowledge. Subject Awarness has the most weightage, i.e. 70%. The rest two sections carry 15% weightage each. Subject Awareness section will have questions from the specialization to which a candidate has applied.

The entrance exam for M.Tech. Biotechnology will have four sections- Advanced Biology, Chemistry, English Proficiency, and General Awareness. Advanced Biology will have 50% weightage, Chemistry will have 20% weightage, and English Proficiency and General Awareness will have 15% weighatge each.

Admission to B.Arch. will be done on the basis of marks scored by a candidate in NATA Exam. Candidates applying for B.Arch. at Gautam Buddha University will have to send a photocopy of their NATA score along with the application form to the University.

Notes:

  • There will be a common entrance test for M.Tech. Computer Science and each specialization in M.Tech. in Information and Communication Technology. The specialization  will be allotted at the time of counselling according to the merit in entrance exam.
  • There will be a common entrance test for M.Tech. in Power System, M.Tech in Instrumentation & Control, and M.Tech. in Power Electronics and Drive.
  • For M.Plan., the university will also conduct an Interview round after the written test. In final merit list preparation, 70% weightage will be given to Written test and 30% weightage will be given to Interview. 


Reservation Process

Seats will be reserved for the SC/ST/OBC category candidates as per the Uttar Pradesh Government rules and Gautam Buddha University rules.

Sports person with relevant certificate of participation in National/International level sports events may be given 5% relaxation in respective qualifying examination.

University provide 18 hostels for boys and girls on single occupancy basis in the University
