Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) B.Tech. and B.Sc. Admission 2017

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) is a prominent university in India which is established to provide knowledge through course containing concepts of food production processing, agriculture techniques and home science to the students.

Applications are invited by TNA University for Under Graduate degree program under different specializations such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Home Science, Agricultural Engineering and Food Process Engineering for the academic year 2017-2018. The Under Graduate degree courses are offered at various campuses of TNA University which includes Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, Killikulam, Periyakulam and Mettupalayam.

Students can apply in online as well as in offline mode. Merit is the only criteria for admission. After generation of merit list students will be called for counselling cum document verification process.

Age Limit: Student should not be more than 21 years at the time of admission i.e. July 01, 2016. There is no age limit for students belong to SC/ST & SCA.

Duration: Min-3 years, Max-6 years

Qualification: Students must have passed 10+2 with 60% marks in any of:

Group I: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry & Biology

Group II: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with an elective (fourth) subject related to Science stream. Students must note that evaluation for this subject will be considered in terms of marks not in terms of grades.

Group II (A): Students with Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology are equally eligible for B.Sc Course.

Note: Students who have completed their 10+2 Education from the state of Tamil Nadu can only apply for the admission in under graduate courses and if they are not fulfilling this condition then they must have the permanent residency (PR) Certificate of Tamil Nadu state. Maximum number of attempts to clear the qualifying exam is three for SC/ST & two for all other communities.

How to Apply

B.Sc (Agriculture) & BE/B.Tech

Students can apply for the admission through online as well as offline mode.

Online Mode:

  • First you have to log in to www.tnau.ac.in and navigate to the admission link then click on Apply online link.
  • Fill the necessary details in online form for example name, date of birth, contact number, e-mail ID, temporary address and permanent address.
  • Attached your necessary documents like ID proof, address proof and certificate of graduation. After this your authorized login-ID & password will be created.
  • Select the appropriate campus and college name as per your discretion.
  • Application fee of INR 1,000/- can be submitted online through credit card and net banking of any banks and for debit card cum ATM card use State Bank of India only.
You may apply online for B.Tech and B.Sc. programme before June 11, 2016   

Offline Mode:

Students can download form from the official website of the TNA University i.e. www.tnau.ac.in and can submit duly filled and signed form along with the demand draft of INR 1000 in favor of The Controller, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore-3" payable at "Coimbatore" and send it to:

Admission Process

B.Sc (Agriculture) & BE/B.Tech

  • Selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in 10+2 level examination.
  • Students who have scored highest marks in 10+2 examination will be called for counseling if shortlisted with respect to the merit list.
  • Counseling process will be performed at the Coimbatore campus of TNAU.
  • The final decision regarding seat allotment will be the sole responsibility of University’s authorities.

Calculation of Aggregate marks:

Aggregate marks will be calculated on the basis of maximum marks obtained by student in group I, II, II (A) & III multiplied by 50.

In case of qualifying examination other than Tamil Nadu HSC, a normalization procedure will be followed as prescribed by Tamil Nadu Professional Education Institution Act 2006. Students must satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria.

Determination of Merit:

If more than one student has obtained same aggregate marks in the merit list then final seat will be allotted to the student by following the below mentioned priority order.

  1. Marks out of 50 in Mathematics/ or marks out of 50 in Biology/Botany+ Zoology (if a students has not studied Mathematics at 10+2).
  2. Marks out of 50 in Chemistry & marks out of 50 in Physics
  3. With respect to Date of Birth criteria, elder one will be considered first.

Counselling Procedure:

Students have to report to the University with all relevant marks sheet & documents. Updation in marks will not be entertained at the time of counselling. Single window counselling will be performed for all degree courses & campus allotment.

Students will be called for counselling according to their position in the merit list. Students have to select the college & degree available at that time of counselling. Priorities once made could not be changed after.

Date, Time & venue regarding counselling will be informed to the student through e-mail & on valid mobile number provided by them at the time of application. The same information will also be displayed on university’s official website. All students called for counselling have to pay the non-refundable fee of INR 2000 (INR 1000 for SC/ST/SCA) in online mode to generate the counselling call letter.

Students who have joined in some other institution, but want to attend the counselling at TNAU, have to produce the bonafied certificate issued by the existing institute along with photocopies of original certificates & attested copies of marks sheet. As part of the counselling proceedings an admit card will be issued to the student mentioning their degree & campus allotted.

Hi Shaik, for admission in undergraduate courses, you should have completed your 10+2 Education from the state of Tamil Nadu and if you are not fulfilling this condition then you must have the permanent residency (PR) Certificate of Tamil Nadu state.
