I did not avail Hostel facility, however classmates who had taken hostel facility and mess food did say that the facility and the food was good. The charges for hostel accommodation were very nominal and the food provided at a very nominal charges.
I did not attend the hostel as I grew up in Mumbai. The hostel facilities at St. Xaviers, at least in my time were for men only, and the few times I ate there, the food was satisfactory.
It was inside the college, pretty good, worth a experience, exposure to different kinds of people with different talents.
The college hostel is an excellent place. It charged me about 25000 rupees per semester which is quite decent compared with the PG's. The mess bill was paid individually based on what and how much you ate. My bill came upto about 4000 to 5000 per month.
As i don't stay in our college hostels but we have a college hostel which is known as St. Xavier's hostel which is located inside college the hostel is good as per rentals and services provided and also about food we have a good canteen from which we get every thing.
I don't live in the hostel as its for guys and also I am from mumbai the food in this mess in mind blowing and too good we have food from every state of India and every variety. We have pay bhaji to pizza and pasta and pasteries and chinese and punjabi and south Indian and also a home made food section run by anna as we call him. No aerated drinks allowed in the college mess. We have our own juice and coffee centre also the never ending chat counter.
The college currently only has a boy's hostel. Girls who wish to study here can take up accommodation in hostels,PGs or flats nearby. The rent+bills can vary from 8,000 a month to 20,000. It all really depends on what kind of facilities the person is looking for. Since college in located in South Mumbai where real estate is expensive owing to lack of space facilities do get expensive around it. But if one is willing to travel a little by the local trains then cost of living gets progressively cheaper as you head towards the suburbs. The college canteen is extensive with a lot of variety so that people from any part of India can comfortably eat here. The food is healthy, hygienically prepared a...
The hostel is an oly boys hostel with no mess. The canteen exists which is well stocked. Everything from pasta, pizza, Chinese, chaat, dosa etc exist and nothing costs more than Rs 90. It is cheap sanitary and good.
8/10 for the hostel facilities and 10/10 for the mess food. If Uday is still running the canteen you have to eat his yummy burjee and bread or maggi.
Hostels at that time were sadly confined to boys, am unaware if the policies have changed now but hope they have. The food was excellent and canteen services were great and highly hygienic.
