Bachelor of Hotel Management or BHM is an undergraduate course introducing students to the fundamentals and different facets of the hospitality sector. For securing an admission in BHM, the basic eligibility criteria 10+2 pass in any stream. The duration of this course varies from 3-4years depending on college.
The tuition fee for the entire duration of the course is between INR 220,000 to 430,000 in government institutions while that in private colleges may go up to INR 1,000,000.
With a BHM degree, one can choose from plenty of job profiles in both private and public sector. Some of the designations suitable for a Hotel Management graduate are hotel managers, air hostesses, flight stewards, consultants to hotels, restaurant managers, event organizers among others. The initial salary for a fresher ranges from 10,000 INR- 30,000 INR per month increasing with experience.

For BHM, the basic eligibility is 10+2 pass. Many colleges also demand an aggregate of 50% in the same and English is also required as one of the subjects. Many colleges also have an age criteria where in upper age limit is set as twenty-two years for those belonging to the General and Other Backward Classes (OBC) category and 25 for the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
The admission process for the entry to this course varies from college to college. The forms begin to come from as early as December with the entrance tests scheduled from April till July for different institutes. Admission may be procured through an entrance exam, direct admission or lateral entry.

Under Graduate Aptitude Test (UGAT) conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) is one of the nationally conducted entrance tests for entry to BHM.

In addition to these topics, students aspiring for admission in BHM program must also appear for an additional Service Aptitude and Scientific Aptitude section which contains 50 questions and is of 1 hour duration.
Institutes such as Manipal University offer merit based admission to the course and do not conduct an entrance test. Such universities invite application and then declare the list of selected candidates for admission within a fortnight or month of the last date of application.
Certain colleges offer admission through lateral entry. Welcomgroup School of Hotel Administration is one such institution. It provides admission directly in the second year (third semester) of the four year course if the candidate has a three year diploma in hotel management or equivalent after 10+2 or equivalent, with above 50% marks in aggregate.
