Students aspiring for naval engineering have to take up bachelors in technology for which they have to qualify their 10+2 with science stream (physics mathematics and chemistry as a must). Those candidates who qualifies B. Tech from an ABET recognized institute are applicable to take up fundamental of engineering exam. This exam is for qualifying as a licensure for professional engineer.
Fundamental of engineering exam is an MCQ based 8-hour examination. Most of the aspirants complete it by their graduation. After completing their course students can seek jobs in government and private organizations. Students also have to seek for a licensure which is different in different states so they have to take care of their respective state qualifications.
The naval engineers who have qualified their education are eligible to take NCEES principle and practicing of engineering exam. The questions generally which are asked constitutes basic engineering marine engineering and naval architecture. With experience and proper licensure, a student is appt for applying as managerial or as a supervisor in the field.
The students who desire to get admitted into one of the naval engineering college have to fulfill certain criteria’s. A student must qualify their senior secondary exams in the field of physics chemistry and mathematics with an aggregate of 60% and 50% in English in either 10th or 12th exam.
the aspirant has to take up an entrance test for getting into the desired college with which he or she should also possess certain physical and mental abilities laid down for admission and have to take up certain physical tests too.
The question paper for the exam is in a QMR format testing the student’s aptitude and logical reasoning. These examinations are generally conducted in the month of April. Here is a list of entrance exam in marine engineering
There are a few colleges which offer an option of lateral entry that is the candidate instead of doing a 4-year bachelor’s course can get admission directly into 2nd year of college skipping the 1st year. For this the candidate, should have done a 3-year diploma course after 10th class or 1 year diploma course after 12th class. The percentage demand of colleges differs from college to college for this option. Some colleges demand for 60% while others, may demand an aggregate of 70%.
