Eligibility Of the M.Phil. (Mathematics)

The minimum eligibility for admission to M.Phil in Mathematics is Masters in Mathematics or in any relevant stream.

While most of the colleges require 55% in post graduation for the application process, few of the colleges like Manonmaniam Sundaranar University,Tamil Nadu and University of Pune offers admission at 50% marks in Post Graduation.

How to Get Admission in M.Phil. (Mathematics)

Most of the colleges arrange entrance test and interview for admission in M.Phil in Mathematics. Yet few colleges like Kurukshetra University and IGNOU provide direct admission for acquiring distance-learning.

Direct Admission

 There is no direct admission to any regular colleges while admission could be acquired in colleges offering M.Phil in Mathematics in distance-mode such as Kurukshetra University.

Entrance Admission

The forms for entrance examinations are available in the months of June and July and the exam is ideally conducted in the month of June.  The entrance test is of 2-3 hours duration. While most colleges have objective type questions, JNU, Delhi has Subjective type questions thoroughly from the entire syllabus of Mathematics. Students are assessed on the basis of their performance in the entrance test and marks scored in Post Graduation examination. The merit list is issued based on 50% of entrance examination marks and 25% of marks obtained in Masters.
