Andhra University started its School of Distance Education in 1972 and is the second university in South India, after Mysore University, to start such a directorate for correspondence courses. The school of distance education is affiliated to Distance Education Council or DEC and the degrees conferred by the university are approved by the University Grants Commission. The University itself has a NAAC accreditation of “A”.
The School of Distance Education of Andhra University offers different courses for graduation, certification etc. The school also offers an MBA correspondence course. The MBA correspondence course of AU is operated from its Vishakhapatnam Campus. Unlike MBA programs offered by other institutes, the School of Distance Education offers a 3 year long MBA program.
The MBA program is offered with specialization in – Finance, Human Resources Management, Marketing, and Hospital Administration. A special executive MBA is also offered in the following subjects- Marketing, Finance, HRM and Hospitality Management. Eligibility for the Course:
The Andhra University Distance MBA Criterion is quite stringent. Its distance MBA program requires interested candidates to fulfill a number of eligibility criteria. The criteria required has been mentioned.
- A graduation degree in any discipline (except BA OL and BFA) with 50% marks
- For SC/ST/OBC, the required percentage is 45%
- Must have studied maths at the SSC/Intermediate Level.
- Must qualify in the entrance examination conducted by Andhra University.
To pursue an executive MBA, the Andhra University Distance MBA Criterion is given below:
- All the requirements of a regular MBA.
- Minimum 2 years work experience after graduation.
Admission process for the Course:
Andhra University Distance MBA Admission Procedure for 2014 begins from January. The form is made available online. You need to download it, fill it and print it and send it over to the university along with attested photocopies of your documents, the examination hall ticket etc.

Fees to be paid for Pursuing the Course:
The Andhra University Distance MBA Fee has been broken down for each year.
- For the 1st year, a student has to pay Rs 15,000
- For the 2nd year, Rs 10,000.
- For the final year, Rs 5,000 has to be paid.
- For the executive MBA, Rs 20,000 has to be paid in the first year and Rs 10,000 in the second year.
The entrance examination fees is not much. It is around Rs 350/- only and needs to be paid by a demand draft in the name of the Registrar of Andhra University.
