How do you look at your association with K N Modi University?
With 20 yrs. of teaching experience in India and abroad, I feel privilege to be a part of Dr. K N Modi University. Having taught in various streams like management, architecture and banking, I felt that there is a huge gap between varied methods of teaching and student's learning. There is an urgent need to bridge that gap. Teaching has been my main focus and I'd like to see new improvements in this sector. Studying abroad was truly rewarding and gave me an exposure to newer ways of learning and taught me to not compromise with the rules and regulations.
Any of the significant challenges you faced as a Vice Chancellor, K N Modi University?
Higher education needs an upgradation and the Ministry of Human Resource must take immediate action to mend that change. Since the revenue is poor in terms of education nowadays, many students fail to get proper access. Hence, it's high time that the Ministry invests in infrastructure and work towards the betterment of the education sector.
How do you look to enhance the value of MBA program with the University?
Setting a benchmark and teaching with International standards is what we strive for. We aim to deliver value for money thereby working towards making education cost-effective and reaching to students from rural backgrounds as well. Our dream is to bring Harvard's brilliant pedagogy, imbibing excellent skills that work in the best interest of students leading them to become successful individuals in the future ahead.
How do you stand against the IIMs/IITs/NITs in Management & Engineering?
We are regularly in touch with the IIM faculty creating maximum opportunities for students. Through regular seminars and workshops, students get a chance to interact with the faculty members of crÃ¨me de la crÃ¨me universities and colleges which in turn help them in expanding their horizons. Though IIMs have the brilliant gems, we too believe in turning silver into gold.
What according to you are the top 2 things that the MBA program teaches and nobody else teaches?
Our MBA program is a reservoir of prospects for students. We build leaders who not only sell jobs but are able to create one. We put special emphasis on making each individual independent who can face the extremities of the world without depending on anyone.
How your curriculum ensures best practices of Industry?
Through regular seminars, workshops and guest lectures. Our teachers have the best expertise and know-how who work closely with the students, guiding and encouraging them at every step.
How opportunity does differentiate at your B-school for the students?
There is no dearth of opportunities. Where a diploma student from some other college is paid Rs. 10,000 per month, the students from our university are offered a package of 9 lacs per annum. The minimum package goes down to 6 lacs per annum. Students from Bangladesh, Afghanistan and several other countries pursue various courses here. The dedication and persistent determination of students is depicted in the innovative designs they have made in the form of solar car and electrical motor bike.

What is your message to the students who wish to join K N Modi University?
The precious four years spent at the University are going to be extremely crucial. So burn the midnight oil, work hard and be focused. How do you look at enhancing student-industry interaction at K N Modi University?
Every week, half of Saturdays are devoted to seminars, workshops and interactive sessions with top-notch experts and CEOs from reputed firms where in students get acquainted with a set of new skills and knowledge required for future endeavors.
Any advice to Young Students?
There are lots of opportunities. There is no dearth of jobs. Develop yourselves in the best way possible and bring yourself to a level where no one can defeat you. These days, "it's not the survival of the fittest but the survival of the fastest".
Brief Bio:Dr. Devendra Pathak
Born on 17 December 1949, Dr. Devendra Pathak has a great deal of teaching experience in India and abroad. An Economist in multi-disciplinary streams of banking, education and research, he also gracefully served as a Director of a few premium schools and was a Vice Chancellor of three universities before leading Dr. K N Modi University.
He worked for the United Nations and shared an excellent camaraderie with National and International Print and Electronic Media. A Phd in Finance from Hallifax University, Wyoming USA and Economics from (BU) India, Dr. Devendra Pathak has an excellent record of achievements and awards in his repertoire.Last Updated - 14 Jul 2015
