A statement given by a renowned engineer to boost up morale of all the engineers striving hard to get through Bachelor of Technology, or maybe are done with giving their heart & soul to get this tag of *Engineer*. If we try to peep into the journey of engineering students we could clearly come to a conclusion that every ‘To be engineer’ have started building a world of their own. I being an engineer will show you the lives of engineer through an engineer’s eyes.
“Scientists discover the world that exists & engineers create the world that never was!”
This one is for all those ‘Superheroes’ also secretly called ‘ENGINEERS’. In engineering phase, a million dollar question that can be raised is, ‘What are engineering students afraid of?’ There could be more than one answer to this question like Short Attendance, Detention, Lectures & the biggest nightmare is Backlogs. Every engineer has not only a book but volumes of memories.
Let’s flip over some of the pages of these volumes. Every person of the Engineer species has a mission to get minimum attendance so that at least they can sit in their End Semester exams. Many more hurdles are there But let’s skip these pages & get onto some more interesting pages of the book. Each one of our species has taken the saying “WORK HARD, PARTY HARDER” quite seriously. Never ending parties like Fresher’s Party, Farewell Party, Birthday Party, Exam’s Ending Party, Result Party, Internship Party, Placement Party & the most important ones are ‘No Reason Party’ are a common spectacle in an engineer’s life. Let me warn you, Don’t be mistaken here as I am talking of both the official & unofficial ones here. We can count the one night studies also as a part of these memories. If we talk of Group Study, then the most scariest moment is when we start counting the hours left before the exam & compare it with the number of units left, & then the most intelligent person divides the number of units by number of hours. That is when our ‘OPERATION SEMESTER’ begins.
I have in fact also seen that is there is a group of 3 students studying & there is only one book among them, then an amazing idea which comes up is , ‘Let’s rip up the book into separate units & take one unit per person & start studying’. But the interesting part is that a myth is followed behind it that who so ever will rip the book will get the curse of backlog & the situation which comes up is like, Who is that daredevil who will take this fatal risk! One of the most common experience among our species would be ‘Sudden Trips’. While partying, when some one comes up with the idea that, “ Let’s go somewhere, lets make memories of these graduation years & within minutes a friends group is off for a new adventure & the amusing part is many of them don’t even know that where are they up to.” I am sharing this by my own personal experience. A distinguishable difference between school life & college life can be that in school life students didn’t carry pens but in college time some of us don’t feel the need to carry even the registers too. Once, I was using a register in which at the NAME column, one name was written & struck off to write the second name, then second name is struck to write the third name and even I myself struck off the third name to write my name. Some unforgettable things in my journey of Engineering are Bus Stop wale uncle ki chai, Canteen ke samosa, College Gate ki Maggi, Nescafe ki coffee, Nukkad naatak performances, Debates ki nervousness, Basement ke Computer Labs, Lecturers ki daant & Class ki backbenches. Every engineer has their own enthralling & engaging stories of their own engineering period which can leave you spellbound.
Salute to all those engineers out there as engineering has been chosen as the world’s toughest course among all the courses by Guinness Book of World Records. I am proud to be an engineer.Last Updated - 19 Dec 2016
