Law has always been a widely-chosen field of study and career option in India. Thousands of lawyers graduate every year from almost 900 law colleges across the country. There are two ways to get a Law degree in India - either a 5-year integrated course after the 12th or a 3-year degree after graduation.

Most of the Indian Law Schools, including prestigious National Law Schools and some private universities like Sandip University, follow the five-year model of law education. Graduates from top Law Schools can expect a package that ranges from Rs. 3 to 15 lakhs per annum if they get employment at most Indian law firms, corporate houses or organizations.Those placed with top corporate houses can expect a pay package Rs. 6 and 10 lakhs. Government and PSUs offer starting salaries, including perks from Rs. 4.5 lakh to Rs.7 lakh.

Where to Study Law?

There are three categories of institutes in India where you can study law. The first one is the Government Law Colleges, offering admissions based on the board examination marks. The second option is the National Law Schools. These are 17 premier law schools in India. And the third ones are private institutions.  These colleges accept CLAT/LSAT (national level law entrance exams) scores for providing admissions. Some private colleges, however, conduct their own entrance tests.

Sandip University is one such private university that offers two 5-year integrated Under Graduate Programs in Law – B.A. LL.B. & B.B.A. LL.B. and two Postgraduate programs - LLM (Criminal Law) and LLM (Business and corporate law) in its School of Law.  The university conducts its own entrance test called SU JEE. However, it also accepts other national level entrance tests. The School of Law is approved by Bar Council of India.
