Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) is a screening test for admission to Ph.D. and Integrated Ph.D. programme in Physics and Theoretical Computer Science (TCS) or Neuroscience in premier research institutions. It is conducted by several premier research institutions. It is conducted by Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali. JEST examination is conducted for two subjects only, namely, Physics and Theoretical Computer Science (TCS). JEST score isvalid for only one year. The online registration window will be open between November 01, 2015 and it will be close on December 10, 2016.
JEST exam will be held on a February 21, 2016. Qualifying in JEST does not entitle an applicant to get a Research Fellowship. Using the JEST results, each institute will call a limited number of candidates for further selection depending on their requirements. Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai is the only one that offers a Ph.D. programme in Theoretical Computer Science (TCS).
