I think the college prepares you well for the industry in terms of discipline and rigour. if you can handle the first year at IIMA, you can pretty much handle anything in life.
ENTRANCE PREVIEWGMAT;Reputation of the institute & professors was the first thing I was looking for. In addition, Affordability visa international institutes played an important role in my decision. This is where IIMA really scores above other campuses. We have over 50 years of alums in the industry who always are willing to help out younger alums.
FEE STRUCTURE AND FACILITIES
It is expense in comparison of other MBA programs in India. at 23 lakhs it is in-fact most expensive. However, as it is compared with other international institutes, it is one of the most cost-effective destinations. It was 12 lacs for the 2 years during my time. It is a reasonable figure to sustain the infrastructure and faculty. Moreover, within 2 years of graduating, we are able to pay off the loan. Nobody is denied admission due to lack of funds.
Wide variety of companies come to campus. Average salary offered is 25+ Lakh. Companies like -Accenture, Bain, Tata Telecom, Tata Capital, BCG, Bank of America, Aditya Birla Group, and list go on. Coming out of recession, placements were a challenge. the top 30 students get a shot at consulting and ibanking jobs whereas the others have to fight it out through ugly group discussions. As such, the cohort system was introduced in my batch as a pilot and was successful in finding a good fit between interest and openings.
Amazing library, canteen, computer lab, classrooms. Xavier's lack in providing corporate & industry exposure, it should open its doors for corporate companies (internships+placements). Regular events (Intra/Inter College), all festival celebrations, 3 days fest made my college life enjoyable. A highly intellectual and smart crowd is what makes St. Xavier's College one of the best institutes in Jaipur. As compared to other colleges, the fee structure of Xavier's Jaipur is quite high but it's absolutely worth.

Faculty is world class and are major contributor towards making IIMA best in India and one of the bests in the world. All of them are at min. Phd in their subjects and have tremendous industry experience. Infact many of them have had worked in govt. comm.
With 20% females, students are from 5-6 nationalities. more than half of the students have 3+ years of international work experience at various international locations like SOuth Africa, Canada, USA, Germany, France, UK etc.Very competitive campus life. Academics is the single most important thing and every student is a topper from their undergraduate days. There are plenty of sports and other opportunities such as dance for those who are interested.
Most of the exams are case based. Students are given case and they are supposed to analyse that and right an assessment or answer given questions within 2-3 hours.10% class participation, 20% mid term, 20% quizzes and about 50% for the end term examination. This is good because it encourages ongoing effort and not slogging just before the exam.
COURSE CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
Most of the exams are case based. Students are given case and they are supposed to analyse that and right an assessment or answer given questions within 2-3 hours.Case-based curriculum inspired by Harvard Business School. This can be a strength as it models real life situations very well and borrows from multi-dimensional subject learning. We are expected to read the theory ourselves prior to class. We will not be spoon-fed.
As most of the participants have worked for more than 9-10 years, For this course, we don't look for internship. Therefore it is not a factor here. However, if one requires, we have industry projects that we can do. We don't charge companies for that. Our focus with this is to be able to help small and medium enterprises without any monetary favor.
ConnneXions - With the budget of 25 Lakhs it gets industry leaders to talk about one theme over two daysInsight - With the budget of 50+ Lakhs it gets students from across the country. Other big events are : Confluence, Speaker Series, TNite. Chaos is the annual cultural fest. We had Mohit Chauhan and Sonu Nigam in 1st year and 2nd year respectively. Confluence is the technical festival and has eminent speakers from India and abroad visiting.
