Tamil Nadu Agriculture University includes UG, PG and Research courses in its educational module in which candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria can get admission. TNAU offers admission to B.Tech., B.Sc., M.Tech., M.Sc., MBA and Ph.D. programs in campuses at Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai, Mettupalayam and Periyakulam.
Registration to these courses begins in the month of May every year and continues till the month of June. The University conducts an entrance test for admission to PG Courses while admission to UG courses is based on marks scored in 10+2 in the relevant subjects.
After the declaration of results of entrance exam, university conducts a counseling procedure in which short listed candidates are called. The counseling procedure for UG programs will be held at TNAU, Coimbatore campus only. Counseling for NRI candidates is conducted separately by the university. Deserving candidates are awarded scholarships in some of the specializations in Ph.D. offered by the university.

Admission to B.Sc. and B.Tech. Programs is entirely based on merit, no entrance test is conducted for it. Students with highest scores are shortlisted for admission to TNAU. Admission to M.Sc., MBA and M.Tech. programs is carried out in TNAU based on the entrance test conducted by the university in which General Agriculture (15 marks), Aptitude (10 marks) and Specific subject (75 marks) are the prime sections. Integrated Ph.D is a four year research degree which incorporates a three year Ph.D thesis with one year of course work. This course work comprising of General research along with the discipline specific research.
Scholars have to complete the first three trimesters with CGPA of 8.5 at least. Students, not meeting the minimum CGPA requirement after 5th trimester, will not be permitted to continue their Ph.D priogramme but may be offered a choice of transferring into a Masters programme by maintaining the required credits in the subsequent trimesters. After that they will be awarded with the M.S degree.
Note: Those students are eligible to apply who have passed a four-year degree program of any state agricultural university. Students of affiliated colleges of state agricultural Universities alone are only eligible to apply.
Note 2: Minimum CGPA Requirement: For Masters & Ph.D programmes, only those students are eligible to apply who have scored 70% marks in aggregate (3 out of 4 & 7 out of 10 in a CGPA system). For SC/ST students, a pass in the qualifying degree is sufficient.
TNAU MBA. M.Sc & M.Tech registration process for Trimester Exam: All newly admitted students have to register themselves for trimester exam. Students of Post Graduate courses should report to the concerned head of the department on the date of registration.
The university offers admission to research programs as well, in which Ph.D. courses have many specializations. Candidates with required eligibility can apply for these courses by filling up the application form that is available online with fees of Rs. 1000. 25% seats are reserved for candidates who belong to other states under ICAR quota. Candidates who have 2 years’ experience in Govt. or Private sector can get admission in Ph.D.

TNAU offers B.F.Tech & M.F.Tech, MBA & M.Sc courses under its Directorate of Distance & Open Learning (DDOL). This department offers distance programmes through correspondence mode. In order to interact with the students, DODL conducts the Personal Contact programmes (PCPs). Minimum 60% attendance is required in PCPs to take the final examination of DODL. Self-instructional manual is provided by distance centre after receipt of the fees.

Application for TNAU DODL courses: Students can download the application form from official website of the TNAU or may contact to the DODL department directly.
Students can file a request for re-evaluation or re-totalling in the prescribed format along with the fees to the Controller of Examination, DODL, within 30 days after the declaration of result. Requests thereafter will not be considered.
