University of Allahabad was established in 1887 and is considered to be the fourth oldest university of India. The University currently offers bachelors, master’s as well as doctoral degree in multiple streams such as arts, science, commerce, law, vocation, and computer application.
University of Allahabad has a dynamic Law Department which offers Undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) as well as doctoral courses to students every year. It offers BA.LLB, LL.B, LL.M, D.Phil. and LL.D degree under the department of Law.
For all the law courses students will be selected on the basis of entrance examination.
Students seeking admission to the Master of Laws programme must have passed Law Graduate degree in any discipline with minimum 45% marks or equivalent. Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of marks secured by them in the PGAT (Post Graduate Admission Test), usually conducted in the month of May every year. The candidates shortlisted through PGAT will be intimated for the counselling process. Application forms for admission to LL.M will be available from the first or second week of April and the candidates can submit them upon completion till the first week of May.
How To Apply
For admission to LL.M programme, candidates can register through the online application process for appearing in the Allahabad University PGAT. Eligible candidates are advised to visit the official website of Allahabad University and follow the below given steps:
Candidates should click the “apply online” button and select the desired course in order to register for the entrance examination
Upon going through all the instructions, candidate should click “I Agree” button and fill the form with all the relevant details. The details include personal details, uploading passport size photograph and signature, etc.
Upon completing the application form, the candidate will be required to pay the application fee of INR 1600/- (Rs. 800/- for SC/ST/ Physically Handicapped candidates) either through net banking or E-Challan
Candidates should have obtained Law Graduate degree from a recognized university with at least 50% aggregate in marks or equivalent. Students currently in the final year of their LL.B course awaiting their results are also eligible to apply. However, such students have to present their final year mark sheets as proof during the time of admission.
At the time of admission, preference is given to fresh graduates as compared to those who have passed LL.B in previous years. Accumulative discount of 5% in the Standardized score will be applied to the gap in every year with a maximum of 15% discount i.e. 3 years.
Allahabad University LLM Admission is done based on the scores obtained by the candidates in the PGAT (Post Graduate Admission Test). The test will be conducted through online mode only.
The test paper pattern is as follows:
The admission test is conducted online and consists of 150 questions. The candidates need to complete the examination within duration of 2 hours.
Candidate will be awarded 3 marks each for the right answer and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer
The question paper will be divided into 2 parts - Section A will be general aptitude test and will be common to all disciplines of PGAT. There will be 40 questions in this section based on General science, Hindi, English, reasoning, current affairs etc.
Section B will comprise of 35 questions based on the subject proficiency. 2 marks will be reduced for every wrong answer in this section.
Selection will be purely based on the merit list issued upon evaluating the performances of candidates
If the candidate is an NCC cadet, then a total of 5% marks will be added to his marks during the time of admission process provided the cadet should owe a ‘C’ certificate of the National Cadet Corps
Candidates having 40% or more disability in any limb or any orthopaedic structure, or an overall handicap of 70% or a certified blind is allowed to be admitted to the course irrespective of their marks
There is preference for filling physically handicapped quota where high preference is given to the candidates having visual impairments, second preference to hearing and last one in case of orthopaedic disability.
