Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya (MGCGV) is a UGC recognized, rural university at Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh, India established on February 12, 1991 by social activist Nanaji Deshmukh, based on a separate MP Government Act (9, 1991). MGCGV aims to provide higher education to people living in rural areas with the administration that is dedicated for teaching, learning and research. The university provides admission to the following PG course for the year:

Candidates are admitted in the above PG programmes on the basis of merit to be determined by the Entrance Test and counselling, both conducted by the University. 

For M.B.A. (Rural Management/ Small Business Management /Agri Business Management), admissions are done through Central/State level entrance body.

Candidate should possess graduation degree in any stream from a recognized college /University.

Master in Social Work [MSW]

MSW (Master of Social works)- 2 years (35 seats)


Candidate should possess graduation degree in the discipline of Social Sciences/Commerce/Science with minimum 50% marks from any stream from a recognized college/University.

Common Eligibility:

  • Candidates up to the age of 28 years as on the date of admission is eligible for admission in above courses.
  • There is a relaxation of 3 years in the age limit of SC/ST/OBC Candidates (Only MP State). However, there is no age limit to the female candidates.
  • Candidates from all over India are eligible for admission. However, 80% seats are reserved for the candidates of Madhya Pradesh only.
  • Candidates with less than 50% marks in the qualifying degree shall not be considered eligible for admission.
  • Candidates need to appear and clear the entrance examination followed by the counselling conducted by the University.

All eligible and interested candidates intending for admission should apply online through the Institute website and submit . Candidates are supposed to fill an online application through according to the following steps:

  • Candidates are advised to check and ensure the eligibility criteria before applying for admission.
  • Log on to www. and fill up all correct details in Application Form
  • Upload the Scanned passport size image with signature as .jpg format
  • Print the fee details slip

  • Candidate can download the admit card online after filling up the online admission form from the university website: www.
  • The  journal number of fee deposition from bank should be noted and the receipt  should be kept safe for submission in the university during entrance examination
  • Application Fees Rs. 600/-  for general category and  Rs. 300/-(for SC/ST of MP and all Female Candidates)

Admission Process

Master in Tourism and Hotel Management (MTHM) , Master in Social Work [MSW] & Master of Journalism and Mass Communication [MJMC]

The University shall conduct an Entrance test in the University campus for selection of the applicants for admission to the various courses.

The selection of candidates on the basis of the entrance test shall be made through merit of the candidate. The merit shall be decided by the competent authority of the university according to the performance in the entrance test and a subsequent counselling.

For MBA, admissions are done through Central/ state level entrance body, however, leftover seats will be filled by local counselling.

Entrance Examination Level will be of minimum eligibility level qualifying exam, general knowledge, current affair & aptitude test.


The candidates who qualify in the entrance examination shall have to attend the counselling in person.

Candidates who are selected  in the entrance test and  final counselling process are  advised to submit attested copies of the following documents along with their respective originals for verification at the time of taking admission within the stipulated time period:

  • Mark-sheet of the qualifying examination.
  • Proof of Date of birth (Mark-sheet of Secondary/Senior Secondary examination). 
  • Character certificate from the Institute last attended.
  • SC / ST / OBC certificate, if applicable
  • Declaration regarding non-creamy layer (applicable for OBC candidates only)
  • Transfer Certificate and Migration Certificate from the Board/University/Institute last attended.

Seats are reserved according to the policy of MP government -according to which 80% Seats are reserved for MP Candidates (having domicile certificate) and 20% Seats for Other State Candidates.

MGCGV CHITRAKOOT University provides the scholarship to the all eligible students. For making fare chances to the students the University provides the financial assistance to the deserving candidates in the form of scholarship. The University provides number of scholarship facilities to the desiring candidates of the University. Some of the scholarships provided by the University are listed below:
