Lucknow University MBA Admission 2019: Entrance Exam, Dates, Result

Lucknow University offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses including Master of Business Administration (MBA) which is offered through regular and self-financed mode in multiple specializations. The following specializations are offered by the university under self-financed MBA programme:

  • Marketing – 120 seats
  • Finance & Control – 120 seats
  • HR & IR – 120 seats
  • International Business – 60 seats

In addition to MBA programme, the university also offers Master of Travel and Tourism Administration (MTTM), a two-year (60 seats) full-time programme offered by Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS).

University of Lucknow has commenced registration process for admission to the 2-year MBA programme and the last date to submit duly filled-in applications. The tentative date of university entrance test (LUMET).

Candidates are shortlisted for MBA course on the basis of marks scored in the national level entrance test i.e. CAT or the university entrance test, popularly known as Lucknow University Management Entrance Test (LUMET). All the candidates who clear the entrance test, either CAT or LUMET, must appear for the interview round conducted by the University.

Eligibility Criteria


Candidates must have completed graduation in any stream with 10+2+3 system from a recognized university. The candidate must also have obtained a minimum 50% of marks at graduate level. However, for SC/ST candidates, the minimum required pass percentage of marks at graduate level will be 45%.

How To Apply


Candidates seeking admission to MBA programme can fill and submit application through online mode via the official university website. Students should follow the below given steps in order to register successfully for Lucknow University MBA Admission:

Step 1: Candidates should register themselves through the online admission portal. Upon doing so, the applicants will receive their login details in the mobile number and email ID

Step 2: Then, candidates will be asked to enter their perosnal details and educational qualifications

Step 3: In the next step, candidates will be asked to select the admission mode. Applicants can either opt for CAT or LUMET for admission to MBA course

Step 4: Then, applicants have to select the test centers in order of preference

Step 5: Next, candidates will be asked to upload their scanned photo and signature and preview all the entries made at this point. If there is some error, they can edit these or start the entire process again. Otherwise, they should proceed for payment of the application fees.

Step 6: After previewing, candidates will be required to submit the form and proceed for payment of the application fees. Form fees can be submitted by any of the following ways – Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking

Application fee:

  • For General and OBC candidates – Rs. 2000/-
  • For SC and ST candidates – Rs. 1000/-

Step 7: Finally, applicants can print their completed application form and fee receipt to complete the application process.

Admission Process


  • Candidates will be shortlisted to MBA programme through a National/ International level aptitude test which may consist of both written as well as oral components.
  • Generally, the admissions to MBA course would be carried out through the Lucknow University Management Entrance Test (LUMET), followed by a personal interview round. The tentative date of entrance test.
  • Candidates having a valid CAT score can opt to take admission through it or choose to appear for the university entrance test known as LUMET.  
  • The written component (CAT or LUMET) will account for a merit score of 100 while the interview will account for a merit score of 20. The overall merit would be calculated out of a merit score of 120.
  • All candidates who have either opted admission through CAT score or through LUMET will have to appear in the interview conducted by the University.

Note: Candidates who have a valid CAT can opt not to appear in the LUMET. Their merit would be calculated on the basis of their CAT scores. However they will have to appear in the personal interview.

Exam Pattern for LUMET 2019

LUMET will have 100 questions which are to be answered in 90 min. Question will be asked from areas like General Awareness, Logical Reasoning, Numerical Ability, Data Interpretation and English Verbal Ability. 

Marking Scheme

  • Each correct answer will give you 4 marks
  • On incorrect answer there will be deduction of 1 mark
  • No marks awarded for unattempted question

The exam is going to held in Lucknow City Only.

Reservation Process

As per the university guidelines, only the Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes candidates originally belonging to Uttar Pradesh will be given the benefit of reservation. Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes candidates of other states will be treated as general.
