Delhi University (DU) UG Admission 2019: Courses, Application Process, Result

Delhi University (DU), the prestigious university which attracts students from all over the India, DU offers admission under several specializations of B.A, B.Sc & B.Com which is going to start. Students can apply in online mode for merit based or we can say, to secure admission in non-entrance based courses offered in different affiliated colleges of University of Delhi. Admission to DU involves screening of qualifying marks according to which briefing of score will be performed. Final admission of a student will depend on maintaining the position in subsequent merit cum cutoff lists. Check DU Admission 2019

Apart from general cutoff list for students of boards recognized by DU, those students whose schools are not accredited with Association of Indian Universities, University Grants Commission & Ministry of Human Resource Development will be considered for admission in University of Delhi on the basis of separate merit list. University has a unique grade point conversion system to serve this purpose.

Eligibility Criteria for B.A/B.Sc & B.Com Courses

BA

Age Requirement:

There is no specific age criteria defined by the University for Admission to Under-Graduate courses. There would be no age bar for students with gap years.

BA (Vocational):

  • Admission will be offered to those students only who have passed their Higher Secondary Examination (HSC) say, 10+2 from CBSE board or any other equivalent board recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with 40% marks in aggregate.
  • Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in one language subject & three best elective subjects.
BA Honors (French, German, Italian, Spanish):
  • Admission will be offered to those students only who have passed their Higher Secondary Examination (HSC) say, 10+2 from CBSE board or any other equivalent board recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with 45% marks in aggregate.
  • Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in one language subject & three best elective subjects.

B.A Honors (Arabic, Bengali, Hindi, Persian, Punjabi, Urdu, Sanskrit):

  • Admission will be offered to those students only who have passed their Higher Secondary Examination (HSC) say, 10+2 from CBSE board or any other equivalent board recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with 45% marks in aggregate.
  • Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in one language subject & three best elective subjects.
  • Students who have obtained at least 40% marks in aggregate along with any of the subject namely, Arabic, Bengali, Hindi, Persian, Punjabi, Urdu, Sanskrit are eligible to get admission in Maulvi Fazil, Prabhakar, Arabic, Munshi Fazil, Gyani, Abid Fazil, Shastri, Hindi, Persian, Urdu, Punjabi or Sanskrit.

B.Com

B.com:

?Admission will be offered to those students only who have passed their Higher Secondary Examination (HSC) say, 10+2 from CBSE board or any other equivalent board recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with 40% marks in aggregate.

  • Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in one language subject & three best elective subjects.

B.Com (Honors):

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Statistics)

  • Student must have passed HSC examination with 45% marks in aggregate along with Mathematics (with 50% or above marks individually) as one of the subject.
  • Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks in Mathematics, one language & two best elective subjects collectively.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Botany) , Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Zoology) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Microbiology)

  • Student must have passed HSC examination with 55% marks in aggregate in Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Biotechnology.
  • Merit list will be prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in three science subjects.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Anthropology)

  • Student must have passed HSC examination with 55% marks in aggregate in Biology, Physics,  & Chemistry.
  • Merit list will be prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in three science subjects.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Biological Science)

Student must have passed HSC examination with 55% marks in aggregate in Biology/Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics along with one language subject e.g English.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Physics) , Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Chemistry) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Electronics)

Student must have passed HSC examination with 55% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics along with one language subject e.g English (with at least 50% marks)

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Geology)

Student must have passed HSC examination with 55% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics/Geology/Biotechnology/Geography along with one language subject e.g English (with at least 50% marks)

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Biochemistry)

Student must have passed HSC examination with 55% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Biology/Biotechnology along with one language subject e.g English (with at least 50% marks)

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Mathematical Science)

Student must have passed HSC examination with 40% marks in aggregate. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in one language, Mathematics & two best elective subjects.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Computer Science)

  • Student must have passed HSC examination with 55% marks in aggregate along with Mathematics, one language subject & two academic subjects.
  • Student must have scored 60% or above in Mathematics.
  • Students who have studied Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science & Mathematics at 10+2 level will be given advantage of 5% marks in the merit list.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Polymer Science)

Student must have passed HSC examination with 45% marks in aggregate in Physics, Mathematics & Computer Science/Chemistry along with one language subject e.g English (with at least 50% marks)

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Biomedical Sciences)

  • Student must have passed HSC examination with 55% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Biology/Biotechnology along with one language subject e.g English (with at least 50% marks)
  • Students with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology & Mathematics will be given extra 3% advantage in overall merit.

Student must have passed HSC examination with 50% marks in aggregate in Physics/Chemistry & Biology/Biotechnology.


How to Apply for B.A/B.Sc & B.Com Courses

BA & B.Sc

Students looking for admission in DU programmes, under non entrance category are required to apply in online mode. Information for the same has been mentioned below:

Online Application Process:

  • Students are required to register online by navigating to the official websiteof University of Delhi. University has designed an admission portal to facilitate the common application platform for the students.
  • First time users have to login by clicking on ‘New User Signup’ option in the new user section.
  • Students should provide the login credentials like e-mail ID, a password with minimum of six characters & mobile number as part of the registration process.
  • After completion of the registration process, a verification mail will be sent to your e-mail ID. You have to click on the ‘Confirm registration’ link.
  • Now you have to login again to the UG admission portal by clicking on the ‘Registered User’ link.
  • In the ‘Registered User’ section you have to click on the ‘Apply Now’ tab.
  • Students have to provide basic details like name, DOB, address, academic details & most specifically the category under which they are going to apply whether CW or Kashmiri Migrants.

Note: If students are applying under ward quota of the University then they have to provide some additional information like name of the employee (Name of Mother/Father)

  • After entering the personal details students are required to choose the course which they want to pursue according to their eligibility. You can choose more than one course at the time of application.
  • Now upload the documents & fill the details asked in the application form & submit the same.
  • After form submission you will be navigated to the ‘Online Fee Payment’ section, where you have to pay the non-refundable fee by using the available payment options.
  1. Registration fee for General/OBC: INR 100
  2. Registration fee for SC/ST/PWD: INR 50
  3. Registration fee for Sports/ECA category: INR 100

Note: Students are strictly advised to cross check the information provided by them, as no further changes can be made after form submission.

Documents required to be uploaded at the time of online application process:

  • Self-attested copy of board examination certificate of Class Xth & marks sheet
  • Self –attested copy of provisional certificate of Class XIIth & Marks sheet
  • Character certificate/Migration certificate
  • Scanned copy of Photograph & Signature
  • Community certificate, SC/ST/OBC (as assigned by competent authority)
  • Certificate with reference to Kashmiri migrant, sports quota or Extra Curricular activities (ECA) quota (if applicable)
  • Self-attested copy of income certificate, in case of OBC non-creamy layer (if applicable)

User Fact: Students must keep in mind that the documents like character/domicile/category certificates should not be more than 6 months older at the time of document verification. Students are advised, to be ready with latest documents to avoid cancellation of registration.

User Notes:

  1. Students belong to sports or Extra Curricular Quota (ECA), need to apply through the same registration portal as for other categories.
  2. Women candidates who wish to take admission in B.A./B.Com courses & who belong to the National Capital Territory in Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB) are also required to apply online. Students who want to take admission in minority colleges are required to apply through the same portal.
  3. There will be no pre-admission or registration form at college level; students have to apply through a single application only.
  4. Children of war widows & Kashmiri migrants have to apply separately in online or offline mode through a common admission form if they want to be considered under General/OBC/SC/ST/PWD or any other category.
  5. Students looking for hostel facilities can obtain the Hostel Accommodation Form from the respective college & must submit the same to that college only.
  6. Application & Admission process of St. Stephen’s college & Jesus & Mary college is slightly different form other affiliated colleges of DU. Students must visit to the respective college if they wish to take admission in these colleges.

Procedure of Fee refund:

Delhi University has certain rules & regulations in case of cancellation of admission/ Migration of student or withdrawal from admission as discussed below:

Case 1: If any student has applied for with drawl from admission before the last date of admission.  Here full amount of fee will be refunded after deduction of INR 100 as processing fee.

Case 2: If any student has applied for with drawl from admission after the last date of admission & on or before July 31 (tentative).  Here full amount of fee will be refunded after deduction of INR 200 as processing fee.

Case 3: If any student has applied for with drawl from admission after July 31 (tentative) & on or before August 16 (tentative).  Here full amount of fee will be refunded after deduction of INR 400 as processing fee.

Case 4: If any student has applied for with drawl from admission after August 16 (tentative) then no amount will be refunded.

Case 5: If a student found guilty at any stage of admission process in terms of providing misleading information of falsification of facts, his/her candidature will be rejected & no fee will be refunded.


Admission Process for B.A/B.Sc & B.Com Courses

BA & B.Sc

  • Admission will be performed after initial screening of qualifying marks as mentioned by aspiring students at the time of application.
  • After screening, merit cum cutoff list will be released by the university. Students have to report in the respective colleges along with marks sheet & other desired documents where verification of documents will be performed.
  • After completion of admission formalities college authorities will update the admission status of the student on the UG admission portal. The students will then require to pay the admission fee in online mode till 12 noon of the next day.
  • Students who could not be able to take admission in the first cutoff of Delhi University could be considered for admission in the subsequent merit lists provided seats are available in the college or course.
  • After publication of fifth cutoff list, participating colleges will publish the number of vacant seats course & category wise on both college & university website.

Note: Students whose result has not been declared yet, will be eligible for admission in between the subsequent cutoff lists provided seats are available & student has pre-register himself/herself for admission.

Admission process of Participating Colleges after fifth Cutoff list:

  • After briefing of admissions on the basis of fifth cutoff list, respective colleges will notify the status of vacant seat on both college & university website.
  • Only those students are eligible to participate in this admission process, who had earlier applied for admission during initial phase of application. No student will be allowed to participate directly in the after fifth cutoff admission process.
  • The student is again required to apply on the UG admission portal & have to choose the vacant seat in respective courses.

Note: Application under this process will be received online only for the next three days of the commencement of application process.

  • After receiving the responses colleges will separately prepare a merit list by considering the names, registration number & marks of best four subjects of PCM/PCB & will display the same on their websites (mentioning the name of eligible students)
  • Total three lists will be released according to the schedule of the university to satisfy the requirements.
  • If after such three lists, the seats remain vacant then colleges will again follow the same procedure to fill up their vacant seats.

Criteria of Grade Point Conversion for students belong to boards not recognized by DU:

According to Delhi University guidelines admission to any course shall not be granted on the basis of predefined scores given by respective boards. DU follows certain rules to grant admission in different course. Grade Point Conversion rules have been considered to provide common platform to all the students looking for admission from other boards. The whole idea is to draw a line in order to scale their marks in best possible manner. Grade conversion is applicable to:

  1. Cambridge School certificate of Malyalam/African G.C.E/Overseas examination
  2. School certificate examination of or XIIthgrade examination of Americal Embassy School New Delhi

Admission Process for Foreign Students:

I have cleared my class 12th last year with 80% in cbse board with PCB and currently I am pursuing a course in a college but I have desire to change my college next year to Delhi university and I want to start from the beginning...will there be any problem because my original transfer certificate, migration and character certificate which was provided from my school is submitted in the college... Will I be able to get it back and if not what else I can do?

Hi Kavya, for admission in Delhi University, it is compulsory to have original documents at the time of admission. So, make sure that you collect the documents from the college you are presently studying in.

Admission is done on the basis of merit prepared on the basis of previous academic performance while for BBA, admission is done on the basis of marks in entrance conducted by the university followed by GD

Admission process will start from May 15, 2019 and would close on June 7, 2019 (both the dates are tentative). Online mode is being opted for registration process. Students need to do registration by submitting the basic details after which a unique registration ID and password will be generated which would be used further in form filling process.
