Delhi University (DU) UG Admissions through Entrance Test 2019: Eligibility, Application Process, Result

Delhi University UG Admissions for the academic year 2019-20 commenced from May 30, 2019. Admissions are offered to the undergraduate programmes based on merit, performance in entrance test or sometimes both. Candidates need to apply online on the official website for Entrance-based courses.

The registration fee for Delhi University and UG entrance exam is INR 250 and INR 750 (per course) respectively. For applicants from SC/ST/PwD/EWS category, registration fee is INR 100 (DU Registration) and INR 300 (per course).  Fee can be deposited using Credit Card/Debit Card/Netbanking. 

The university conducts entrance test for following UG Programmes:

  • Bachelor of Management Studies
  • Bachelor of Business Administration - FIA
  • B.A. (Hons) - Business Economics
  • B. Tech. - (IT&M)
  • B.A. (Hons) - Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Bachelors of Elementary Education (B.El. Ed.)
  • B.Sc. in Physical Education, Health Education & Sports
  • B.A. (Hons) – MMC
  • B.A. (Hons) – Music

NTA (National Testing Agency), on behalf of DU, will organize JAT (Joint Admission Test). The written test is conducted for admission to BMS, BBA – FIA, BBE, B.Tech (IT&M), BA (Hons.) HSS, B.El.Ed, B.Sc (PE. HE& S), B.A. MMC and 5 year IPJ.

For B.A. (Hons.) Music, candidate have to appear for practical test. For B.Sc (PE. HE& S) apart from test, they also need to appear for trials.

Eligibility Criteria

The following 3 courses are offered through Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and Humanities, in various colleges of Delhi University.

  • Bachelor of Management Studies
  • Bachelor of Business Administration - Financial Investment Analysis [BBA (FIA)]
  • B.A. (Hons) - Business Economics

Admission to the above mentioned programmes is provided through Joint Admission Test (JAT). Candidates should meet following criteria to appear for the entrance:

  • Secured minimum of 60% marks at 10+2 level in four subjects including English, Mathematics and other two subjects from the list of elective subjects approved by the University.
  • Should have passed each of the four subjects in 10+2 examination. 

BA

B.A. (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences

Admission is given based on the scores obtained in the MCQ based entrance test, conducted by the university. Minimum 60% aggregate at 10+2 level in four subjects is the basic pre-requisite to appear for the test.

B.Sc

Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Health Education & Sports: B.Sc. (P.E.,H.E. & S.)

Should have passed Class 12th or equivalent with at least 45% marks in one language and three best subjects.

BA

B.A. (Hons) - Multimedia and Mass Communication (MMC) – Only for Women candidates

Offered only at the Indraprastha College for Women. A minimum of 75% aggregate at 10+2 level in four subjects with at least 85% marks in English is required.

BA

There are three courses offered as specialisations under BA (Hons.) Music.

  • BA (Hons.) in Hindustani Music: Vocal/Instrumental (Sitar/Sarod/Guitar/Violin/Santoor)
  • BA (Hons.) in Karnatak Music: Vocal/Instrumental (Veena/Voilin)
  • BA (Hons.) in Percussion Music: Tabla/Pakhawaj

Eligibility criteria for the courses is: 

  • Must have obtained 45% marks in Class 12th with one language and two elective subjects in addition to music.
  • Candidates must have learnt the music at least three years from recognised institute or Well Known Guru/Teacher, if they didin’t take Music as subject in qualifying exam .
  • Such candidates required to produce certificate of completion of three years or more in Music from particular institute or teachers.

How to Apply

BA & B.Sc

Candidates seeking admission to the above mentioned UG courses can apply through the common Web Portal for centralized registration. Follow the steps mentioned below to successfully register for entrance test:

Step 1: Visit the DU admission portal and click on the “Register Here” link.

Step 2: Click on New Registration and enter requisite details. 

Step 3: After successful registration, login to the admission portal using uegistered email ID and password.

Step 4: Candidates now required to add personal and academic details.

Step 5: Choose courses for which they wish to appear for test.

Step 6: in the next step, upload the following documents:

  • Scanned Passport size photograph (maximum size: 50kb; Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG)
  • Scanned signature (maximum size: 50kb; Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG)
  • Self-attested copy of Identity Proof (maximum size: 50kb, Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG)
  • Self-attested copy of Class 10th Certificate (maximum size: 100kb, Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG/ PDF)
  • Self-attested copy of Caste Certificate, if applicable (maximum size: 100kb, Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG/ PDF)

Step 7: After documents are uploaded, click on “Submit” button and see a preview of the form filled. Any modifications or update in the details should be done at this step.

Step 8: Next, click on “Save Application” button and proceed to pay the registration fee through any of the payment gateway.

Step 9: Form submission process is completed only after successful payment of registration fee.

Notes:-

  • Candidates can select any number of courses.
  • Application fee varies for each course.
  • Fee is calculated during the payment process.
  • All particulars must be carefully filled and verfied, as no option for correction is available after fee payment. 
  • One time correction facility is provided to edit limited number of fields against the fee of INR 100. 


Admission Process

Bachelor of Management Studies

Bachelor of Business Administration - Financial Investment Analysis [BBA (FIA)]

B.A. (Hons) - Business Economics

Admission to the BMS/BBA/BA (Honours) courses is done on the basis of marks secured in the Joint Admission Test (JAT) and qualifying exam. 

The weightage of the Entrance Test and qualifying exam is as follows:

  • 65% for JAT
  • 35% for the Qualifying exam

Entrance Test will have questions from topics like:

  • Quantitative Analysis
  • Reasoning and Analytical Ability
  • General English
  • Business and General Awareness

Note: The Paper pattern will be for all the courses. There will be 100 questions and for each correct answer a student shall score + 4 marks and for each negative response there will be -1 mark. Duration of exam will be two hours.

BA

B.A. (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences

Entrance test will comprise questions based on General Awareness, Current Affairs, General Knowledge, Communication Skills (English/Hindi), Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability. Question paper is set in both Hindi and English.

B.A. (Hons) Multimedia and Mass Communication (MMC)

Candidates are shortlisted based on the merit list prepared using marks secured in the entrance test. Entrance test will have questions from topics such as General Awareness, Media awareness, Current Affairs, English Comprehension and Grammatical & Analytical skills. 

B.Sc

Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Health Education & Sports: B.Sc. (P.E.,H.E. & S.)

Admission is done on the basis of marks scored in the written examination and other tests, conducted by Delhi University. 

The weightage of the Written Entrance Test and other tests is as follows:

  • 50% for Written Test
  • 20% for Physical Fitness Test
  • 30% for Sports Proficiency Award

B.Tech

B.Tech in Information Technology and Mathematical Innovation

The entrance test will consist of questions from Mathematics, Reasoning and Analytical abilities at 12th class level.

Important Instructions:

Registration /Admission of foreign nationals

  • All the categories of foreign students will be considered under the same category of 5% quota for foreign nationals for admissions
  • Foreign nationals shall be exempted from the online registration process of Delhi University or appearing in Admission Entrance Test conducted by the College/Department for admission. 
  • Foreign nationals who are stationed in India and have passed last examination from Board / University in India are also exempted from online registration process of the University and appearing in entrance test

Hi Jyoti, students who have scored 50% or more in intermediate are eligible to apply for admission. Thus, you are eligible. However, admission will be based on the cut off of the concerned college for a specific course. After declaration of first cut off list, you will get to know if you are eligible for admission in the concerned college or not.

Hi Lushi, for admission in BA Hons Political Science, the university conducts an entrance exam regardless of the college in which you seek admission. However, for simple BA Political Science course, admission is merit based and this applies to each college of the university.

Hi Shivani, no, admission to this course is done on the basis of merit only. The university will release cut off marks for all its affiliated colleges. You will have to look out for the college in which your score fits for the concerned course.

Hi Parmila, students who have done intermediate in any stream from a recognized board will be held eligible for this course. Thus, you are eligible. However, students will get admission on the basis of Joint Admission Test (JAT) conducted by the university which will be followed by interview.
